Can't go that far back on your link, Jan. Did watch a lovely story about conjoined twins though!

Is it just my school that is entirely back to normal, full assemblies, no staggered timetable or anything?

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 06/09/2021 16:56

We've always had staggered starts and finishes - the school stairwells just don't accomodate more than one class at a time. We used to have separate gates for drop off and pick up, but now they are all on the playground.

The main thing I've noticed is that staff have given up. No one really bothering with masks etc.

BitterTits · 06/09/2021 17:02

I'm a PP under a namechange.

Today I sat in a full staff meeting of around 150 people for over an hour, then a group of 25 and a busy canteen. We know that double vaxxed staff are still getting ill with Covid. Why is The Guardian still obsessed with office workers who don't feel like going back while we have to put up with these conditions?

DS is in class with the sibling of a confirmed case. I still don't know where I stand with pay when if he gets it. I really have to get out of teaching this year.

MrsHamlet · 06/09/2021 17:05

We're back to normal too

cornercupboard · 06/09/2021 17:15

noble we're back to normal. This afternoon, assembly in the sweaty hall, every child except Reception, all staff. Oh, and the fans going, lovely, fan that Covid soup around the whole community!

JanglyBeads · 06/09/2021 17:23

Here we are with the BBC article:

Parents concerned about Covid risk - opinion poll

A majority of British parents with school-age children say they are concerned about the risk of their children catching Covid, an opinion survey suggests.

The online poll of 2,017 UK adults by Ipsos Mori found 70% were concerned with only three-in-10 untroubled.

Over seven-in-10 (71%) said they thought it was likely that the number of coronavirus cases will rise as a result of children returning to school - only eight per cent said they thought this unlikely.

Some 43% said they thought the government would once again be forced to close schools because of Covid - compared to one-in-four who did not.

JanglyBeads · 06/09/2021 17:24

We’re back to normal, apart from weekly staff briefing is never going back to all cram into the Staffroom.

BewareTheLibrarians · 06/09/2021 17:25

Mmm covid soup! Smile Hope the first day/s back have been bearable for everyone. I just wanted to pop this here as it feels like vaguely hopeful news:

www.tes.com/news/covid-school-attendance-fines-could-be-unlawful

This is the Good Law project taking on Gavin Williamson. It feels far too late, but hopefully will be a positive step if it is proved unlawful. (Although I am slightly upset that it’s not Gavin himself that’s been found unlawful due to his entire awfulness.)

I have been here before, under a different username, but took a break over the summer. I shall now waft my cape and disappear mysteriously. Wink

Well that can't be true because someone on the covid section said that they'd asked simply everyone in their WhatsApp group and no one gave a shit.

noblegiraffe · 06/09/2021 17:30

I do hope that the government get into shit about how they've treated vulnerable families re school attendance, it's absolutely shocking.

They are the 3 in 10.

This article has lots more detail about the poll. It makes for sad reading really

noblegiraffe · 06/09/2021 17:37

Was it a Scottish survey, piggy? The Scots aren't as hardy as the English....

PumpkinPie2016 · 06/09/2021 17:47

Well, I survived the INSET day Grin

Actually enjoyed my day in lots of ways but it's been manic and my head is fried Confused

Need to get my head around a few things tonight.

Looking forward to seeing kids tomorrow.

DreamingofBrie · 06/09/2021 17:53

I'm absolutely shattered after 1 day! Y7 lesson not so great and confrontation with Bob within 3 minutes of the lesson starting. But ok, will take some time to get back into.

We've kept some measures - hand washing on entry, one way system, some lunchtime restrictions, and some virtual assemblies. There seem to be many kids who caught it over the summer. LFTs should be finished by tomorrow.

JanglyBeads · 06/09/2021 17:57

Well I don’t know who you are (definitely, anyway) but will need some persuading not to umbrage at your new username...

(Only joking)

BewareTheLibrarians · 06/09/2021 18:01

Jangly Grin “Beware the librarians for they are all powerful” was too long for a username, unfortunately! Wink

Piggywaspushed · 06/09/2021 18:06

No, it was not a Scottish survey. And if you accuse the Scots of not being hardy, we will come for you. In the dead of night.

JanglyBeads · 06/09/2021 18:18

True Beware!

Mine's completely back to normal too
noblegiraffe · 06/09/2021 18:21

Forgot a winky face and have insulted the Scots. This is not good.

Piggywaspushed · 06/09/2021 18:24

Piggy digs around in cupboard for stiletto knife .

Tailrunner · 06/09/2021 18:34

Inset day for me today and things seem to be more or less back to normal. Some restrictions on the way we arrange desks, collecting exercise books less often (to allow some quarantine time) and we can circulate the classroom but it was suggested that it might be better to do it a bit less than pre covid Hmm.

I wonder how the questions were phrased on that survey. I think very few parents would tick to say they have no worries at all about covid but that doesn't mean they are worried enough to want to keep any measures.

Mistressiggi · 06/09/2021 18:34

Forget about that wee trip up to the festival Noble.
