First in tops up the gin supplies and turns on the tea urn.

Yes - virtual speech day and prom cancelled. Thank you BoJo

Phineyj · 14/06/2021 19:50

I worked in a school with several tea urns. They used to boil and boil during INSET. It was like a free facial.

HarrietDVane · 09/07/2021 19:09

Tried to post in the Republic but the 63rd is full!

< sweeps away cobwebs >

Hope you're all ok! At least it's Friday.

PumpkinPie2016 · 09/07/2021 19:13

Hope everyone is ok Smile

I'm shattered today 😴 timetable was released so had a few staff complaining that they didn't want x/y/z. The timetable is honestly fair and has the best interests of the kids at the centre.

8 more get ups!

ChloeDecker · 09/07/2021 19:34

Is it Friday yet?! Each day just blurs into the next currently Grin
10 more get ups…

MrsHamlet · 09/07/2021 19:44

I'm so tired I could cry

In shocking news kids are allowed to come in late on Monday.

One week to go here. So knackered this week.

Something strangely cheering about this video of the England team getting changed into suits and laughing at each other for looking like teachers.

Also, the England team admitting they know how to tie a tie from school except the ones who had a clip on tie.

Also half naked fit men for MrsH who sounds like she needs it.

SquashedFlyBiscuits · 09/07/2021 19:50

I wish our head would encourage the children to come in late on Monday. Thursday was a car crash.

This week lasted about 10years. I have aged! Wishing ds was younger so he was in bed already so I could go to bed too.

MrsHamlet · 09/07/2021 19:52

Why do none of my colleagues look that?
Also, even if they turned up half naked and offered themselves to me, I'd probably ask for a cuppa and a bedtime story.

noblegiraffe · 09/07/2021 19:54

The England team seem so nice they’d probably oblige, MrsH

ChloeDecker · 09/07/2021 20:07

Not in my school sadly SadFootball

Saucery · 09/07/2021 20:15

I’m not a fan of the coming in late on Monday thing. A quick glance round the little faces in my class and you could immediately tell whose parents would have to spend all weekend telling them that they have to come in at the usual time because said parents have to work. Doesn’t seem fair, to me. A bit (lot) of leeway for tiredness would be better imo.
We had our whole school Euros Day last week and that went down well, was lots of fun. Monday will just be a load of hyped - up children who didn’t catch up on their sleep anyway, whether they came in late or not.

I shall retire to the Curmudgeonly Grump Corner now Grin

noblegiraffe · 09/07/2021 20:18

I suspect those heads fancy a lie in themselves!

No late start at my school.

MrsHamlet · 09/07/2021 20:21

No late start for us either. Which I'm fine with because I am also a curmudgeon.
Bob's class cheered today when they found out they have me next year. Weirdos.

Saucery · 09/07/2021 20:22

All the staff have to come in. It’s Putting A Film On While We Strip The Displays by the back door, I tell you!
The same parents who moaned about online learning and their dc missing out on vital education lobbied the Head for Monday morning off. 🤷‍♀️

WhenSheWasBad · 09/07/2021 20:23

No late Monday for my kids. My youngest doesn’t sleep well anyway, so it won’t make any difference to him.

Not quite sure what to do with him. He just lies awake in his bed for hours on end.

MrsH can’t believe you got called petty for pointing out we have 189 with pupil days next year.

PumpkinPie2016 · 09/07/2021 20:25

No late start for us either (secondary). I suppose the issue is some parents need to go to work so a fairly sudden late start is difficult. Secondary kids often rely on buses and so it may be hard for them to get in later.

This week has been incredibly long though!

MrsHamlet · 09/07/2021 20:29

I think when that they're going to try to guilt us into 190. Not on my watch, comrades.

Piggywaspushed · 09/07/2021 20:30

It all falls under the same rhetoric though 'our children have sacrificed so much' . Blah blah.

Maths bods , have you seen this?

I need to check on my school's calendar.

Saucery · 09/07/2021 20:35

Indeed. Sadface Overdrive for the middle class and flexibly employed. Sod everyone with set hours and no chance of time off and sod their kids.

WhenSheWasBad · 09/07/2021 20:36

My current t head talked about workload from September onwards in his briefing. I was a bit surprised by his attitude.

He pointed out sometimes extra workload falls on our laps (e.g. TAGs). Instead of trying to reduce workload, we need to manage the peaks and troughs.

No mention at all of trying to reduce the workload. It was pretty much, “sometimes your workload is massive just deal with it.”
If you can work from home do that (how does that work when you are teaching everyday?). If I’m honest I’m glad I’m leaving.

New school have given me a reduced timetable with extra NQT ppa time. I said it was very kind and pointed out I’m not a second year ECT so didn’t need the time.

Their response was that NQTs have had their training years interrupted and they though we needed the extra time for planning and development.
I may take on extra classes around Christmas but they wanted me to settle in well. Nearly cried, I think I’ve made a good choice moving.

MrsHamlet · 09/07/2021 20:42

Are you NQT+1 when?
Schools have been funded for an extra 5% remission for those this year (unexpectedly). We can't make it work on the timetable mind 🤦🏼‍♀️

WhenSheWasBad · 09/07/2021 20:47

Are you NQT+1 when

As of September MrsH

I’m not quite sure how the extra 5% works on a timetable either. You sort of get an extra 30 minutes. Which doesn’t work at all.

Mind you current school chose to completely ignore the NQT 90%, so I was expecting the same from new school. Instead they’ve been extremely generous.
