@RuleWithAWoodenFoot

Just offer it as an option. That's the simplest thing to do.

I was at lunch last week with a guy who is involved with the AZ stuff - an Ox prof. He said that what 'they' want is to be able to offer a third jab as a paid option for adults. Like flu. AZ want some ££ for all the bad press basically.

Are any other countries charging for their boosters?
RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 04/09/2021 11:34

No idea. Doubt it.

I expect here we'll treat it like the flu jab.

noblegiraffe · 04/09/2021 12:10

Amazing way to figure out that 33 is divisible by 3. Primary school and maths teachers should immediately adopt this: twitter.com/linguanumerate/status/1433861813913915394?s=21

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 04/09/2021 12:14

I don't understand that. I've practically got a degree in maths.

We just do the rule that if you add the digits until you get a single figure, and that single figure is 3, 6 or 9, then it's divisible by 3.

I found this working helpful twitter.com/lnmcjames/status/1434079545364258816?s=21

Mathematicians gotta get their kicks somewhere. Grin

Glad I looked at this article - Dr Strain says quite a few things I haven’t heard anyone else saying - that 1:7 kids getting long Covid is a lot; encourage your kids to keep masking in school, and other points too:

Mistressiggi · 04/09/2021 15:34

Surely a lot of more well off people (who can afford the booster) are still wfh and need a booster less, unlike a lot of less well off people working in shops or factories and taking public transport.

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 04/09/2021 15:36

Who are the Tory voters?

noblegiraffe · 04/09/2021 15:41

Charging for jabs will be Saj again. We’ve got two chancellors. Remember charging for LFTs is still on the cards.

HSHorror · 04/09/2021 17:08

I dont mind people having to pay. Much better than like with kids some idiot saying they cant have it.
However i wouldnt choose AZ as it seems less effecti ve - especially on the SA variant. Plus the clot risk - again if you are paying they shouldnt be able to force 40yo to have that one.
But otoh pfizer is much mire expensive.
If the make people pay they cant have a no booster no nightclub etc

Thanks for posting that-I was just reading it.

It says that non-teachers who the school use as tutors will need to do 11 hours of online training first. This training is provided free, but will they be paid for doing it??

What is the pay, as well-does anyone know!

And who will do the planning for the sessions if it’s a TA?

This pisses me off so much. If I read one more article about poor office workers having to go into their SD workplace, in person once a week ... Angry

What a bumbling fool he is. No answers to any questions. Truly clueless.

Gavin Williamson now so unpopular among Conservatives that his rating is interfering with the formatting of the chart. And look how easy it is to a have a positive rating - Raab!! (Although he has fallen massively since the last poll).

And still Gav clings on.

I just think Boris is too lazy to bother having to think about reshuffling his Cabinet.

He knows that many are incompetent, but actually having to move them around....nah, too much like having to do his job....

noblegiraffe · 05/09/2021 11:46

Word on the street is that the reshuffle will be after the October conference.

motherrunner · 05/09/2021 11:46

Who would replace him?

noblegiraffe · 05/09/2021 11:48

All the rumours are about dreadful people. But that's the current Tory party for you. No Justine Greening-types in the wings, just Kemi Badenochs.

cantkeepawayforever · 05/09/2021 11:49

@noblegiraffe

Only if his hand is forced. There were rumours of a reshuffle after exam results, but the media coverage of those wasn't too negative for the government. I suspect that it will only be if the big Tory donors start refusing to give money unless some changes are made that anything will happen.
JanglyBeads · 05/09/2021 12:24

Interesting article , mainly for what it says about classrooms full of unvaccinated kids:

Our sixth form is so oversubscribed this year that they’re all being encouraged to go off site in frees. This doesn’t usually happen until November and then only for those about whom there are no concerns.

Am not sure am wild about this, as mum to a Y12 who doesn’t have a fantastic work ethic!
