You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement for school staff to let off steam.

Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

Do not give the staffroom password to non-staff as it attracts the wrong sort of crowd.

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation. Do not sit on the chairs and do wear a mask. Finally, upload your covid test results twice a week on Wednesdays and Sundays.

Such nice weather for carrying wardrobes down the stairs and out to the road for collection tomorrow. Only got a massive chest of drawers and a metal high sleeper frame that we have to somehow dismantle left to go Angry The state of ds's room is disgusting.

Large waste collection booked for tomorrow so no turning back. Think I might prefer teaching to this.

eitak22 · 01/06/2021 14:48

@TheHoneyBadger I'm having a similar sort of day this time doing deep cleans of rooms I haven't done in a while. Definitely picked the wrong day for it.

TheHoneyBadger · 01/06/2021 14:49

I'm bathed in sweat eitak! May the force be with you.

CallmeHendricks · 01/06/2021 15:57

I've been on a long dog walk, defrosted the freezer and de-weeded half the driveway (bastard block paving 😡)
I then went for a microdermabrasion facial where they sand-blasted my face with a vacuum cleaner. Bit drastic but I honestly look loads younger better for it already. I've been forbidden from going out in the sun for the rest of the day so dh's the other half of the driveway isn't going to get done.
I reckon sitting under a parasol in the sages with an ice cream instead is OK isn't it?

GuyFawkesDay · 01/06/2021 16:05

@CallmeHendricks get a weed burner, really makes block paving weeding easy.

Went into town (Stratford). Heaving but actually just so, so nice to see people out, the cafes and Ice cream vans with queues. Those busine8 must be so relieved the weather has brought out the punters. So I had a lovely potter about with a gazillion other people and am now in the shade in the garden with a magazine. Absolute bliss.

And my kids don't need entertainment so much these days. They're happy pottering too and all of us slept in til at least 8:30. Its such a relief!!

Piggywaspushed · 01/06/2021 16:07

I am currently choking on BBQ smoke. Always windy in my garden! Hopefully cheeky can of Pimms will make up for it.

Portable neck fan is the way forward! Also giving up and watching Netflix.

@CallmeHendricks I think that is what is called for, chilling in the shade with ice cream.

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 01/06/2021 16:24

I'm on rinse and repeat. Sea swim, pool swim, icecream, read a book. Partner and parents have left now though, so just me and the child for a couple of days. I've got work to do at some point, not sure when that's going to happen.

ChloeDecker · 01/06/2021 16:25

Hopefully cheeky can of Pimms will make up for it.

Welcome to the club! Grin

TheHoneyBadger · 01/06/2021 16:31

Sounds like bliss Rule. I'm desperate for a sea swim.

Niece texted ds saying she's at my mum's so he pissed off there. We've gotten the wardrobe out, I've taken 2 boxes full of recycling out of there and two big bags of rubbish and have given away some bits on the local giving page and sold some clothes on fb so long as the buyers turn up (finding unworn, tags still on, clothes he's grown out of has irked me!) and he's emptied and taken the draws out from his chest of drawers. Still need to get the carcass of the drawers out and then try and find a way to dismantle the high sleeper.

On enforced break now whilst he quickly visits with niece in my parents garden so have poured a gin and tonic.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 01/06/2021 16:58

Sea swim is the first thing on my list if I eventually get home.

Might be before if I can find uncrowded beach.

Do you hear that Gavin et al!? What they want/wanted list was not last minute decisions that caused them more stress. Very articulate and sensible young people in that article Grin
TheHoneyBadger · 01/06/2021 20:06

Yep we’d all just like to know what’s going to happen. I think kids trust their teachers to sort things out so long as we all know what the plan is.

I’m knackered

noblegiraffe · 01/06/2021 20:28

I don’t like Pimms.

Having a lovely, pimmsless time.

TheHoneyBadger · 01/06/2021 20:34

Pimms is a lot of faff for not much alcohol. G&t here. Been a long day.

JanFebAnyMonth · 01/06/2021 20:37

I love Pimms but rarely get to drink it these days! Are you seeing yr mum yet noble?

Seen this, 6 families taking DfE to court over “wring” CAGs in 2020. Illustrated with a fine looking young man named Henry-James Brioche, which to me sounds like a rather amateur attempt at making up a middle class name! (Apols Harry J, am sure you’re genuine!)

Mistressiggi · 01/06/2021 20:40

What's the article saying about how the teachers gave the "wrong" grades? (I can't read it)

TheHoneyBadger · 01/06/2021 20:41

Brioche??

Piggywaspushed · 01/06/2021 20:45

These are all people on the ALGI Facebook group. Mrs Brioche (not her name) is v vocal.

Piggywaspushed · 01/06/2021 20:47

They can't possibly win, surely? There is statistically no such thing as a wrong grade?

I do think Mrs Brioche would se an exam board in a normal exam year if Henry did not get what she he needed

MrsHamlet · 01/06/2021 20:48

How is it wrong???

ChloeDecker · 01/06/2021 21:03

My school is still suffering the fall out from litigious parents regarding the 2020 process that the DforE just left us to deal with alone.
I wonder how they are using the fact that the Nov 2020 used inflated grades that we are discouraged from using this year!?
