You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

Do not give the staffroom password to others just in case it attracts the wrong sort

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation. Do not sit on the chairs and wear a mask.

@TheHoneyBadger

Seems from my limited sample of people that people called for age reasons only were give Pfizer and people called for health conditions AZ. Don't know if there's a reason why?
DS had Pfizer...
TheHoneyBadger · 04/03/2021 13:53

Well there you go then - my extremely limited sample doesn't reflect broader trends.

Saucery · 04/03/2021 13:54

I’ve just had a look at the local vaccination info (group of GP practices) and they have the AZ at the practice for CEV etc and the Pfizer one at the local hubs.
My GP is further away and is only on Group 6. Doesn’t specify which vaccine they are using.

HercwasanEnemyofEducation · 04/03/2021 13:55

Medra Do DM someone on here, there are always people happy to help and chances of them knowing you are teeny.

Similar re Desmos. "I'm tired" seems to be a coverall for a general feeling of meh about the whole thing.

Saucery · 04/03/2021 13:55

My anecdata backs your hypothesis, Honey! Grin And we are Randoms on the internet so practically experts in this Covid bollocks, like everyone else......

MrsHamlet · 04/03/2021 13:58

Definitely ask someone medra

TheHoneyBadger · 04/03/2021 14:00

Yeah I reckon we're right Saucery.

Piggywaspushed · 04/03/2021 14:03

DH had AZ. No side effects at all.

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 04/03/2021 14:11

My anecdata is the other way around. Older folk getting AZ at GP surgeries, health bods getting Pfizer at hospital settings. We don't have a vaccination hub near us at all.

Iamnotthe1 · 04/03/2021 14:11

Mine was due to health conditions and was Pfizer.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 04/03/2021 14:15

We only had Pfizer at work so that what we got as did all the health & social care staff and any 80+ arms they could find.

Vaccine centre definitely have AZ but not not sure if they also have Pfizer.

Medra · 04/03/2021 14:30

My parents got AZ at the big hub here.

Has anyone here given up a TLR or chosen to take on more reponsibility while part-time?

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 04/03/2021 14:40

I was sort of demoted when I went back part time after mat leave - they'd stepped someone up to DH in my absence, and when I came back they made both of us ass heads. I didn't mind that much as they didn't change anything about my salary or owt.

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 04/03/2021 14:41

I'm wearing a proper bra in preparation for tomorrow. OMG, it's a revelation - boobs NOT sat on my gut! it wasn't that bad but nearly was

noblegiraffe · 04/03/2021 14:53

ass heads

Always makes me smirk. So childish.

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 04/03/2021 15:08

That's why I called myself an ass-head. It amused me.

Appuskidu · 04/03/2021 15:17

@RuleWithAWoodenFoot

Had a meeting with an amazing Ed Psych this morning. Maybe I should be an EP.
I thought about this. My cousin is one but trained before you had to have a doctorate so it was just another year to do an MSc and she got that funded so was trained pretty young.

Although, my degree wasn’t in psychology so that still would have been a killer route for me to get there anyway let alone throwing a 3 year doctorate and 80,000 word research project into the mix.

It looks a fab job though... and they’ve all been vaccinated

DriveInSaturday · 04/03/2021 15:21

There doesn't seem to be much of a pattern to which vaccine you get round here. DH got the AZ vaccine at the NHS invite hub (he's 60). Yesterday DS (health) got the AZ vaccine at the GP centre, but our neighbour (age), went to the same GP centre last week and had the Pfizer vaccine.

Not sure if it's an official side effect, but DS was voraciously hungry after it. He polished off a naan bread and a huge pack of kettle crisps as a mid-afternoon snack, with no impact on his appetite.

Medra · 04/03/2021 15:24

@RuleWithAWoodenFoot I went back after maternity leave expecting a demotion, but getting a job-share. That ship has now sailed and I’ve been offered either dropping the TLR or upping my days and doing it by myself.

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 04/03/2021 15:40

Teacher Tapp interesting today.

Reasons why specific children haven't engaged in online learning:

Limited/no parental support for learning (61%)
General, long standing poor attitude to school work in general (71%)
Lack of independent study skills (60%)

SmileEachDay · 04/03/2021 15:44

That teacher tap result tallies with my experience Rule

HercwasanEnemyofEducation · 04/03/2021 15:46

Teacher tapp is exactly what I voted.

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 04/03/2021 15:47

my degree wasn’t in psychology

Me neither. Civil engineering! Conversion MSc first, so that's £6k minimum, plus a year out of earning. The Open U course isn't accredited. Then the actual massive training bit, which I wouldn't be able to afford unless I got sponsored or something. So, that's a no unless I win the lottery, at which point trying to help broken children will I'm afraid be quite low down on my list of things to do.

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 04/03/2021 15:47

Exactly what I voted too.

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 04/03/2021 15:48

Just need to pop that on the Health board - children who haven't kept up with school work? It's parent's fault. Ha.
