You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Do not give the staffroom password just in case it attracts the wrong sort

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation.

If you come with a stick to goad us then that is not allowed in the staffroom and you will receive a detention

So weird listening to LBC.

Just heard a presenter say (something like). March 8th is a big day. Not only because schools are reopening.

Does LBC know more than everyone else? Are schools all going back?

Saucery · 20/02/2021 13:14

Our new neighbours had their dd and gds round yesterday. DH and I did a sort of fake OMMAAAAA! Shock noise and....got on with our day. From what I know of them they are nice people, have had Covid, possibly had vacc but not spoken to them recently to find out. If they want family to visit inside then let them crack on. They’re not having hot tub parties or attending weddings (2 things people were fined for recently near me).

Saucery · 20/02/2021 13:28

Sorry, that had a bit at the top for Enemy, saying that the neighbours who reported her Mum are knobheads and hope her Mum wasn’t too upset by the police coming round.

mN is so weird today. Its SSL Handshake keeps being rejected, according to the error messages I’m getting.

sherrystrull · 20/02/2021 13:35

Thanks @CarrieBlue. I'm sorry to hear you feel the same but also glad to hear I'm not in isolation. We had multiple isolation periods last term and I really dread going back to that.

RandomGrammarPun · 20/02/2021 13:55

Oh no. Just a particular thread.

But leaving the profession has been seriously considered!

Was it Majiid?

We’re staying with my mum right now. She’s on her own, we formed a support bubble with her as soon as we were allowed in the first lockdown but she lives 150 miles away and we were all in different schools before Christmas so didn’t visit or let her visit us. She came to us for a couple of days over Christmas but we tried to keep at least a metre or so apart and separate bathrooms but then I was back in school 1 day per week since so didn’t see her then. Now she’s 3 weeks post vaccine 1 and I’ve not been to school for 10 days we’re visiting for her mental health. I’d be devastated to be reported even though we are perfectly legally allowed and as safe as we can be in the circumstances

Aaargh Access Denied to the Republic (well whole of MN but obvs this is the only place that really counts)!

chocolateisavegetable · 20/02/2021 16:01

I keep getting weird messages from MN too - often says it's checking my browser Confused

SmileEachDay · 20/02/2021 16:02

MN is being super annoying today. Error messages all over the place!!

JanFebAnyMonth · 20/02/2021 16:08

See MN Twitter, there's a ddos (?!!) attack apparently......

MrsHamlet · 20/02/2021 16:15

Oh no ... not a ddos attack.
What?????

SmileEachDay · 20/02/2021 16:16

Not a DDOS. Will nobody think of the children?!!

A what now?

MrsHamlet · 20/02/2021 16:21

Oh smile that made me snort in a most unladylike fashion

SmileEachDay · 20/02/2021 16:22

I refuse to believe you are anything other than extravagantly elegant and ladylike. Even in slipper socks and a jumper.

HobnobbingAboutHobnobs · 20/02/2021 16:26

DH once explained a ddos attack as being like the whole of year 7 crowding around asking inane questions. It breaks servers. In the same way that the aforementioned scenario would break most teachers 😁

MrsHamlet · 20/02/2021 16:28

That sounds grim hobnobbing
I aspire to be ladylike but I'm more your granny in a blanket type. I don't waft... I clomp.
I had a conversation this morning about getting "fuck off" tattooed on my forehead. My friend kindly pointed out that my face often says that so...

TheHoneyBadger · 20/02/2021 16:29

MN has been so annoying. Now I know it's DarleksDoingOddStuff I feel better.

HobnobbingAboutHobnobs · 20/02/2021 16:29

@Timeturnerplease agreed, half term has been the opposite of a rest. I might actually catch my breath on Monday when toddler is at the childminder. It's at times like this that I'm relieved to have the republic - people who understand the craziness 🤪

TheHoneyBadger · 20/02/2021 16:30

I was so lost I actually recorded one lesson and planned and resourced another. If it goes again I might have to mark my year 9 essays.

SmileEachDay · 20/02/2021 16:30

Haaaaa Hobnobs

That’s the behaviour I crack with Y7 classes first. I can’t stand it. I have no idea how primary colleagues cope!! (Although I imagine the good ones might have strategies that don’t involve physically taping them to the chair, which is what I’d end up doing 😂)

noblegiraffe · 20/02/2021 17:00

Distributed Denial of Service Attack....a group of people taking a website down because they don't like it.

Basically, a poster tried to get MNHQ to stop me from posting schools threads and MNHQ said no so they decided to take down MN instead.

noblegiraffe · 20/02/2021 17:00

(This is a joke, btw)

MrsHamlet · 20/02/2021 17:03

😂😂😂
