You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Do not give the staffroom password just in case it attracts the wrong sort

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation.

If you come with a stick to goad us then that is not allowed in the staffroom and you will receive a detention

Am I the only person who found Bridgerton really really dull?

Appuskidu · 15/02/2021 12:44

@noblegiraffe

Oh appu I'm about to eat my lunch!!!
Ha ha-sorry!

Agree re Bridgerton-the Duke was v pretty but there was no plot. ‘The Great’ on channel 4 is way better!

GuyFawkesDay · 15/02/2021 12:44

Henry Cavill is my other gave on screen.

So handsome. And smart too. And he rides horses so instant winner in my book!!

Saucery · 15/02/2021 12:47

@GuyFawkesDay

Henry Cavill is my other gave on screen.

I used to get him mixed up with Bertie Carvel and disappointedly watch stuff he (Henry) was in, expecting Bertie.
noblegiraffe · 15/02/2021 12:47

Your other Gav, Guy??

chocolateisavegetable · 15/02/2021 12:48

Colleagues when I return to school: "what did you do in half term?"
Me: "well, I became a fangirl ..."

Appuskidu · 15/02/2021 12:48

Henry Cavill was good in the Witcher. Oh, and Tristan and Isolde

Butmiss · 15/02/2021 12:52

My GP practice sent me a text. My first vaccination is booked in for Wednesday! Pleasantly surprised as last week I was told I wasn't in group 6 and I'm fairly young. Something must have changed. It's made my week!

chocolateisavegetable · 15/02/2021 12:57

Great news Butmiss ! So pleased for you Smile

namechangedyetagain · 15/02/2021 13:04

Yep, definitely not worth watching for the story line😉

OpheliasCrayon · 15/02/2021 13:07

I have just spent some time with DH!!!!

DCs currently elsewhere in various permitted childcare arrangements
So DH came to bring me some things. He had the kids with him last time and they got upset not understanding why they couldn't cuddle mummy so this time it was just us and I have been able to spend some time with him. Albeit in a coridoor but happier now :)

RandomGrammarPun · 15/02/2021 13:12

That's great, Ophelia!

I didn't even attempt Bridgerton. I just assumed it would be twaddle not my thing.

JanFebAnyMonth · 15/02/2021 13:18

Ah that's great Ophelia.

Butmiss · 15/02/2021 13:20

Thank you @chocolateisavegetable! Love the username by the way Wink

noblegiraffe · 15/02/2021 13:29

Bridgerton is the sex one, right? Like Game of Thrones.

Bit off-putting, I like to snack while I watch TV.

noblegiraffe · 15/02/2021 13:29

Glad that you got to see your DH properly, Ophelia. Being in hospital sucks even in usual times but with restrictions must be awful. Flowers

MrsHamlet · 15/02/2021 13:30

Hooray Ophelia
I started watching Catherine the great yesterday. They do a lot of shagging.

Appuskidu · 15/02/2021 13:32

OpheliasCrayon · 15/02/2021 13:47

Yeah it cheered me up a whole deal :) and I've got lots of fresh clothes too :)

I'm not a fan of period dramas to be honest although then there have been some that I've loved like..... That really famous russian one that was on not too long ago and I really should remember the name of it but I don't....... But that one!

MrsHamlet · 15/02/2021 14:00

I've just marked a whole essay about a character called Stan and his evil actions.

The text is Paradise Lost 🤦🏼‍♀️🤣

RigaBalsam · 15/02/2021 14:18

And another one! From the telegraph

Schools are not a significant driver of coronavirus transmission in the community, a study has found.
There is no hard evidence to suggest that children attending in-person classes - especially at a primary school age - has led to outbreaks in local areas, according to epidemiologists at the University of Warwick.
A significant number of secondary school absences were seen in December amid outbreaks in London and the South East, but researchers attributed this to the more transmissible Kent variant of the virus and generally high case rates.
"During the first two weeks of the November lockdown we observed an increase in pupil absence as a result of infection with Covid-19," said Dr Edward Hill, from the University of Warwick.
"Yet in the following weeks the data indicates that in several regions there was no subsequent rise in Covid-19-caused teacher absence."
It comes as Boris Johnson said that no final decision has been made on whether all pupils will return to school on Mar

Piggywaspushed · 15/02/2021 14:31

That was in The Guardian too...

Piggywaspushed · 15/02/2021 14:33

I don't understand the Warwick report... is a rise in pupil infections meant to be a good thing? And how were they tracking teacher infections? From whence were they getting their data?

Viciouslybashed · 15/02/2021 15:02

I came here because they are discussing the schools all going back on march 8th and quoted Warwick report to me. Its just all such bullshit.

Piggywaspushed · 15/02/2021 15:16

Any other report on anything else and you'd be told you couldn't quote it or use it until peer assessed and released in full.
