You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Do not give the staffroom password just in case it attracts the wrong sort

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation.

If you come with a stick to goad us then that is not allowed in the staffroom and you will receive a detention

Fell asleep and woke up just before dinner, ate and then started recording tomorrow's lesson complete with dog snoring for home learners and sorting out resources for those in school. Think I've finished now. DH miffed ive been working so much this week. As has he but he has definitely held the fort whilst I've collapsed in a heap on the sofa

I'm in the 5'7 but fat category. Love a pair of heels though don't wear them so much these days, need make up lest I scare the children and can't wait to slap a bit of fake tan on again, get my hair cut and my nails done. I look haggard and old.

chocolateisavegetable · 10/02/2021 21:16

@cornercupboard

Shuffling in and hitting my head on the door, another tall one here, I'm 6 foot and skinny. Don't own or wear make up, dresses, skirts or heels, look like back end of bus but don't care. Top child comment I've ever had - "Mrs CornerCupboard, are you a man or a lady?" Grin
I'm your much fatter twin

On the subject of clothes I find things difficult as I have very long narrow feet. There tends to be the assumption that feet that are long are wide. So I struggle to get feminine shoes so I can't put a proper outfit together

HarrietDVane · 10/02/2021 21:22

I am 5'3 and a half. The half is very important to me. Most of our Y5s tower over me by the summer term. Despite being short, I definitely do not have the ear of the HT, but I do struggle to reach the top of the whiteboard. Except in my current room, because I had a new one fitted when mine went bang, and the workmen fitted it to my height. If I ever swap rooms with my 6'6 colleague we shall both be in difficulty!

HarrietDVane · 10/02/2021 21:24

I only ever wear dresses to work. I am spherical a little rotund, so finding trousers that fit, flatter and are suitable for work has proved impossible.

Weird. I'm a size 9 extra wide, and cannot understand why most larger sizes are quite narrow....

The world is out to get us!

chocolateisavegetable · 10/02/2021 21:34

Jan I have the same size feet (except extra wide) and I get my shoes from Marisota - have you tried them?

chocolateisavegetable · 10/02/2021 21:34

That should read extra, extra wide

Appuskidu · 10/02/2021 21:35

Another short arse here at 5 2 and size 4 feet. I can never reach the board properly either, despite teaching the teeny tinies!

Piggywaspushed · 10/02/2021 21:36

I have ridiculously short arms. I can't reach the top of anything. Extractor fan, cupboards. Bah. I used to work with someone the same height as me who had much longer arms. She and my very tall colleague used to think it was hilarious to put the board marker for our noticeboard on top of it. Ah, those were the days of innocent fun.

I also hate that no jeans or trousers fit me. Am completely the wrong height. I hate that you can't get short leg things in shops so are forced to pay delivery charges. I'd be happy two inches taller.

MsAwesomeDragon · 10/02/2021 21:42

I have short fat feet. Size 4 extra extra wide. I have found one pair of boots that fit and are suitable for school (in a size 5 extra wide) and I'm taking really good care of them. Still looking for some summer shoes/sandals for work, as my last pair of sandals finally gave up the ghost in July. I hate shoe shopping even more than I hate clothes shopping. I usually end up with granny shoes ☹️

noblegiraffe · 10/02/2021 21:45

The jumper I’m currently wearing has three quarter length sleeves, but it’s not meant to.

We’re a glamorous lot aren’t we?

I AM SO SICK OF SHOVING A STICK DOWN MY THROAT AND UP MY NOSE

That is all. As you were.

MrsHamlet · 10/02/2021 21:46

5'8 and size 8 feet. I wear a lot of foreign sized shoes and 11 makes me feel like a freak.
Frlrl your past life sounds very exciting!

hedgehogger1 · 10/02/2021 22:00

@JanFebAnyMonth I put shoes on, take a step and they fall off. I get excited when I see reviews with people complaining about shoes being too narrow. I'm ordered about ten pairs into Clark's in the past as they never stock beyond an 8. Go in. Try them all, hand them back

MrsHerculePoirot · 10/02/2021 22:13

I got the text tonight - getting first jab on Friday morning!

Me too! At least we'll get a few days off for half term.
Piggywaspushed · 10/02/2021 22:16

I think I win the foot wars what with the consequences of my extra appendage...

I'm extra extra wide in most styles too! Normal wide aren't worth bothering with. Normal shoe shops aren't worth bothering with...

I've seen them but not tried any, can't remember why.

My go to brand are Hotter (only some styles!), recently discovered J D Williams shoes; oh and Padders.

JanFebAnyMonth · 10/02/2021 22:17

Oh and Lands End!

I look longingly at many many shoes...

Piggywaspushed · 10/02/2021 22:17

Glad you are getting vaccine mrsHP. DSis (police)in USA has now had hers and said 'finally'. Harumph.

Do you know what group you aremrs?

JanFebAnyMonth · 10/02/2021 22:21

Oo just looked and Marisota is JD Williams! (Was it always??) And there's loads of actually NICE shoes in my size and width

Ooooo!

JanFebAnyMonth · 10/02/2021 22:23

Thanks @chocolateisavegetable !

No matter about unshaven anything, trailing hemlines/sleeves/ hairstyles, am sure we'll all look and feel a squillion dollars when we party on that hill/ eat cheeses in Egypt! 💃 👠 😊

MrsHerculePoirot · 10/02/2021 22:23

I’m think I’m group 6 because diabetic. I know they’ve been doing over 65s which is top half of group 5. I get some priority booking slots on shopping deliveries but not top priority like elderly... was a link to book and there were slots tomorrow evening (parents evening) or Friday morning!

Piggywaspushed · 10/02/2021 22:27

DH is group 6 so hopefully soon then.

We have never had priority shopping though Sad
