You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Do not give the staffroom password just in case it attracts the wrong sort

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation.

If you come with a stick to goad us then that is not allowed in the staffroom and you will receive a detention

@noblegiraffe 🤣🤣🤣

Yes schoolcloud here too! @DreamingofBrie reckon you’ve got good chance of it crashing on you next week....

RandomGrammarPun · 22/01/2021 21:01

You spent time making fake links, Noble?

Forgive my French, but you are ducking mental Grin

RandomGrammarPun · 22/01/2021 21:02

What is this School cloud thing? Why not just use Teams or Zoom. Or, you know, the phone?

Timeturnerplease · 22/01/2021 21:02

@noblegiraffe I genuinely believed that. That’s how low an opinion I have of the DFE right now...

EvilEdnasEnemiesOfEducation · 22/01/2021 21:04
@EvilEdnasEnemiesOfEducation Teachermade gives you a link which can assign directly to your google classroom. They click the link it opens the document no app needed
Does it work in teams?

Sorry for the idiot question, it's been a long week!

MrsHamlet · 22/01/2021 21:05

School cloud is great!

We set our own availability (we get a choice of three nights with a set amount of expected time) then the parents log in and make appointments.

We limit them to 5 mins and then it cuts out... bye bye parent!!

HercwasanEnemyofEducation · 22/01/2021 21:09

School cloud is one of the best things to come out of lockdown. Never want to do a normal parents evening again. 5 minutes and BYYEEEE saved me.

The 3 hours of back to back appointments when SLT forgot to schedule breaks was less fun.

noblegiraffe · 22/01/2021 21:13

No French to forgive, your autocorrect disapproved! Grin

I’m a bit tired I think.

MrsHerculePoirot · 22/01/2021 21:13

@EvilEdnasEnemiesOfEducation it doesn’t post direct to Teams like it does Google classroom but it gives you a link that you give them.

MrsHamlet · 22/01/2021 21:22

Couldn't agree more. I dread to think how much it costs but I hope we never go back
noblegiraffe · 22/01/2021 21:28

5 minutes is TOO LONG

2-3 minutes please.

MrsHamlet · 22/01/2021 21:30

I think you can set it up as you like - another local school does 7. Weirdos.

JanuaryChill · 22/01/2021 21:31

Don't let certain posters on other threads see you trying to spread FAKE NEWS noble !!!!!

HercwasanEnemyofEducation · 22/01/2021 21:32

5 is actually OK, once the first minute of 'can you hear me...' is over, then a quick chat then done. You can end them early too.

7 is too long.

Piggywaspushed · 22/01/2021 21:33

Isn't this school cloud thing really expensive??

DH's school has crashed twice and then they are all expected to phone around now.

noblegiraffe · 22/01/2021 21:33

Oh god I wish I hadn't spread the fake news thing because you lot are definitely not going to believe this one:

"Worried about your children's home learning? Don't be - thanks to tireless teachers, the youngsters will be fine
Sponsored by The UK Government "

MrsHerculePoirot · 22/01/2021 21:38

@noblegiraffe I thought it was a ruse to get us to do the TES survey.... it worked 🤣

Monkeytennis97 · 22/01/2021 21:39

@noblegiraffe 🤮🤮 😂😂 awful!!

My God I thought that Head was a 6th former

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 22/01/2021 21:39

I feel like this might be the wrong board for having this rant but I can't do it on the Covid board. I do work in a smallish department with over 100 other people in it though so it might count.

Why has everyone forgotten suddenly forgotten how to social distance? If you are standing one either side of my while I'm on the computer and I can feel you against my shoulders, neither of you are 1m away. Similarly there's no need to sit less than 1m away from me at the bus stop if there's only two people there. Or stand right beside me at the crossing. WIBU to just start pushing people further away? At least an arm's length.

starrynight19 · 22/01/2021 21:43

@DreamingofBrie I reckon you have every chance of avoiding said parents if it’s a Thursday Grin

Grin noble I clicked on everyone of those links and fully believed it Grin

MrsHamlet · 22/01/2021 21:45

This goes to show that noble is in control of our minds!

Loshad · 22/01/2021 21:45

I love school cloud, fortunately parental feedback is just as positive and head has mentioned staying with it after this shit show.
Parents evenings as they should be.

Loshad · 22/01/2021 21:47

Parents get 5 mins but we get six to catch our breath between appointments

phlebasconsidered · 22/01/2021 21:50

I'm really struggling. Due in for half the week for my "bubble" of 22. People dropping like flies all around me with it . Sick of coming home, stripping off, washing clothes, dealing with mum and the kids, organising carers, then online stuff. It's relentless. Plus health stuff. I might drink too much tonight.

Mum is in bed, son is playing ps4, dd is in her room chatting to friends. We are all just doing what we need to do but it's horrible. Last night me and dd had an "Anne with an E" binge, tomorrow I have promised i'll walk the dog with ds and watch pride and prejudice with mum. I haven't finished the planning for next week. I don't know if anyone could!

Just venting really. Solidarity to all of us.

noblegiraffe · 22/01/2021 21:56

Sorry starry!

I guess Jan had me sussed the other day when she called me a troll.
