You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Do not give the staffroom password just in case it attracts the wrong sort

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation.

If you come with a stick to goad us then that is not allowed in the staffroom and you will receive a detention

I think it was quite clear that years 7-10 and 12 don't get remote learning next week because the whole point is to give us extra time to set up testing...Hmm But I very much bet, like a pp said, it'll turn out to be a "misspeak" and all will change.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 30/12/2020 18:44

Greenwich don’t appear to be on the contingency areas list.

MrsHamlet · 30/12/2020 18:44

@CallmeAngelGabriel

So, if I'm OK to go into school and mix with hundreds of people perfectly safely next week, I think I might go out partying on New Year's Eve.

Why the fuck not?

I'll come. I was planning a dash to mums this weekend to seem my sister - I know I'm not allowed but I also know I didn't have it last week when I was tested and I've seen no one, and she's been tested and doesn't have it and has only seen mum who sees no one. This is wretched.
Piggyinblankets · 30/12/2020 18:45

I am eating ice cream in my pyjamas.

I have figured it out:

Gove : suggested ALL schools (secondary ; he gives not one shit about primary and SEN) have an extra two weeks holiday to egt testing ready

Gavin: said ' you can't do that? What about exams? I said they would go ahead'

Gove: 'bollocks. What s stupid promise to make. Oh well, just say year 11 and 13 can have virtual schol whilst missing entire lessons to be tested. I am sure they will all pass then. except for the working class and Northerners and children who don't do proper subjects'

Gav: 'brilliant. Boobles.'

Jinglingmod · 30/12/2020 18:45

Oh, and it was very deliberate that the numbers of areas that would be in the "contingency areas" sounded like very few...but when published, actually a very significant number.

DecemberStar · 30/12/2020 18:45

Yeah I was waiting to hear SAGE and ISAGE members comment. Spiegelhaiter's already flagged up the unsuitability of the LFTs

Jinglingmod · 30/12/2020 18:46

Odd re Greenwich... Punishment?

ChloeDecker · 30/12/2020 18:46

@FrencheFancie

Sigh. I guess we'll getting a fresh wave of these threads in the next few weeks :

=> AIBU to think live lessons should be provided?
=> Can you tell me what provision your child has had so I can check if my school is normal? (complete with a faux innocence head tilt).
=> AIBU to be cross? No contact from school, not even a phone call home.
=> My friend's child Cressida has daily live lessons, lessons marks on the spot and instant access to her teacher... AIBU to be cross that my child's teacher isn't up to scratch?

I may have to ignore the main boards for a little while...

So so true and it’s already started!

And Lewisham too..

I thought that first about Greenwich but then saw Lewisham.

Odd re Greenwich... Punishment?
Greenwich's current infection rate is 674/100,000
SantaAssociationRepresentitve · 30/12/2020 18:51

@ChloeDecker - just ignore all those threads. They need teacher input to descent into a bash fest which is what the crazies love

On Data thread they've said it's more about whether rates are rising and how quickly?

CallmeAngelGabriel · 30/12/2020 18:53

Well, the four areas closest to me are the same four who first went into Tier 4, and we followed them a couple of days later.

LumpySpacedPrincess · 30/12/2020 18:54

What a bloody mess. Currently 3 of my colleagues are ill with covid but we're just going back in come Monday. They really do hate us don't they.

ItsIgginningtolookalotlikeXmas · 30/12/2020 18:55

I've just done a Yougov survey which asked me lots of questions about how worried I was about doing home learning with dc, whether my job would be flexible about this etc etc - I was waiting for a question about whether I thought schools were safe, but it never came Hmm

Piggyinblankets · 30/12/2020 18:55

Yeah but as I said on there december my area went up 500% last week.

Piggyinblankets · 30/12/2020 18:57

Gav did say Sage documents would eventually be published? On 18 Jan perhaps??

Timeturnerplease · 30/12/2020 18:57

@NeurotreeWenceslas Our toddler has now come out with a hacking cough and snotty nose today! No rash though. I’m getting the cough now so will get us tested tomorrow. I don’t think we have ‘it’ but if they’re sending primaries back and my ILs are looking after her as usual, I don’t want to risk them catching it.

If I did have it I would 100% declare myself off child duty to get DP back for all the times he’s done it. Perhaps you could develop a cough too....

SantaAssociationRepresentitve · 30/12/2020 18:57

just read someone describing Gav as a willywaving arse - excellent !

Grin Twitter are not taking any prisoners about Gav either.
Iamnotthe1 · 30/12/2020 19:04

@Jinglingmod

Odd re Greenwich... Punishment?
Not a punishment but it is because of the optics. They can't be seen to have taken a council to court and then say, actually, the council was right.

So Greenwich should be closed but the Government cares more about how they look than effectively dealing with Covid.

Piggyinblankets · 30/12/2020 19:09

Seen Sadiq's tweet? Mayor of London, local leaders, headteachers and councils all not consulted.

CallmeAngelGabriel · 30/12/2020 19:10

"the Government cares more about how they look than effectively dealing with Covid."

You're not wrong there! It's criminal. When all this is over (ha! IF), they should be dragged through the courts for corporate manslaughter (if that's legally possible).

ChloeDecker · 30/12/2020 19:11

Danny Thorpe is querying Greenwich already
