You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation.

If you come with a stick to goad us then that is not allowed in the staffroom and you will receive a detention

Omg just had a read of the last few pages of that thread on chat.
There's some seriously tin foil hat thinking going on.
One of my best mum friends is a total Covid denier - has a sunflower lanyard and thinks we should get it over and done with, hospitals are normally over run - it's not Covid, it's flu. Which is really weird as she's a fellow education professional, more highly qualified than myself, and on other topics I really value her opinion.
But on this.... We have agreed to disagree and never mention it. Which is kind of hard at the moment!!

No disrespect to anyone posting it here (you're all excused, because) but I'm overwhelmed tonight with rage and sadness at everyone wishing each other Happy New Year. There are thousands of people in hospital beds now who are going to die - and more to follow them - and doctors and nurses who just cannot cope. I'm so angry and so upset. It's not going to be a Happy New Year for thousands of people, is it? (Sorry, all.)

I was also really emotional today, that we’ve got to the end of 2020, and it feels like it’s been most of the year and we still have months to go. The cheesy fireworks had me in tears 🤦‍♀️

I know what you mean @Jinglingmod but I’ve liked seeing everyone having their own random parties at home - it’s made me laugh a bit. I think everyone I know stayed at home, alone, is following the rules has been raging against the government and those not making efforts to keep everyone safe. Everyone has been vocal tonight about what they’ve hated about 2020 but also looked for what they’ve taken from it.

This time last year my marriage was properly on the rocks. We were starting to move forward and sort ourselves out so for me horrific as everything has been lockdown actually saved us I think and gave us the time we needed for each other and ourselves. I feel like I’ve survived the worst 12 months of my life so am holding onto that.

I will tentatively wish you all a better new year than the last and hope you and yours stay safe and well.
