Where the dickens has it gone? Is it gone gone? Has it been renamed and I just can't find it?
@ilovesooty, Chelsea and Coffeekid did an amazing job of inviting all the refugees to the site. I joined in the hope of getting in touch with old Tessers who I am really fond of, but who unfortunately haven't joined or may have and have already been booted out by Emily on a whim.

Let's hope they turn up here, where it's safe to be yourself.

Of course, I wasn't aware it was so bad, until now. If only I knew then, what I knew now.

One person stating this had happened to them, then perhaps you can ignore it, but I reiterate, Florianus being booted out and still not knowing why, then it's serious.

He has a lot of friends that are still on that site and who probably haven't a clue what has happened to him.

Be careful if you PM them, otherwise Emily might boot you out too.Wink

I get the impression she isn't someone you can freely discuss issues like this with. Confused
That's very kind of you to say such kind words. Out of curiosity I have been trying to think what led to my being banned. As far as I recall, I only posted a handful of messages - one, I think to thank Ms Strange for setting up the forum, probably one to say that (because of our age) I and my wife had received a Coronavirus vaccination, and then she popped up out of the blue to ask if I was FG from the TES forum. When I replied that I was, she denounced me as a troll (whatever that is supposed to mean) and I just had time to thank her for deleting the accusation before discovering she had banned me.

I find it very odd for a forum that a number of people have described as warm and welcoming.

Perhaps she has some deep-seated hatred of my past, working in three well-known public schools, being a principal examiner for A-level, and a school inspector (for ISI, not Ofsted). I really don't know. With neither warning nor explanation for being banned, one can only conclude that she is doing this sort of thing on a whim - and that is no way to run a forum, in my opinion.
**@Weald56* there was a belief that the new forum was going to be the promised land for all the TES Community refugees. I, for one, believed so, and was praising Emily for setting it up, until I learnt that the honourable @Florianus* was booted out and he didn't have a clue why. And remember, TES announced they were not reinstating the Community forum, after the other one had been established and idiots, like I was at the time, were singing its praises and it had garnered hundreds and hundreds of old Tessers in a matter of days.

Once I learned of Florianus's fate, I knew there really was trouble in paradise. Yes, other were moaning about being kicked out, and I thought they were baddies, posting stuff like how much they loved Bojo etc. but now I know you can be booted out on a whim, I'm not impressed. It will probably be me, next, if I ever write something.

Those that are on the site and defend it, like you, and sooty and coffeekid, can't say a bad thing about Florianus because there isn't anything bad to say about him other than him being way too skilled at his repartee, and I figure, they are just as shocked to hear he was booted out as I was, but haven't the balls to speak up about it.

When I first came to TES years ago, I remember being ribbed by Florianus and his mates and I was getting really upset, Florianus nobly backed down. He's not a baddie, and knows when to stop and wouldn't intentionally hurt another by going for the jugular unlike other TESSERs.

Florianus is very popular and I am sure a lot of the old Tessers who are fond of him, are wondering where he is now, unaware of his current fate. I reckon if I did a post mentioning him, all the Emily fans lurking here, would out me and I would be kicked out instantly.

It's like the plot of some Cold War Thriller.....Shock
People are aware that Florian has been removed.

A number have expressed surprise and a wish that he hadn't been.

Including myself.

staymotivated · 24/01/2021 17:52

@PriscillaChinchilla no I won't. I hate injustice and the cruel treatment of others. Fortunately, @Florianus is mentally well and can handle it, but others can't.

I mentioned previously, I was on another website that was closed down very much in the way TES was and it was because someone had mentioned the treatment they received via a moderator there, in their suicide note. I hope they were unsuccessful. I was told, when this happens, the protocol is to close down the site immediately.

If such an allegations was made, the site owner, all involved in the communications could be subjected to criminal investigation, charges and even criminal proceedings, fines and/or criminal sentences. Hence the recommendation to pay for insurance of websites and ensure that all moderation is fair and impartial. And I am sure NAB will tell you, website insurance is very costly, especially when the users/members run into the hundreds.

There is so much talk of how TES was cruel and yet, people are kicked off this new site and don't even know why. @greenbeetles perhaps those stating they are shocked will be ousted eventually, once they have made their voluntary contributions toward the upkeep of the site and its owner.

PriscillaChinchilla · 24/01/2021 17:55

I wasn't actually talking to you, but no matter.

Labour activists are all for the redistribution of wealth.

Malbecfan · 24/01/2021 18:01

@Florianus nice to see you on here. I think I mentioned your name many pages ago. My DoM & I used to frequent TES a number of years ago on the music board and we both found your contributions helpful and very knowledgeable.

If anyone still has a TES login, there is a survey which popped up today about the handling of the pandemic by government in schools. I'm notsorry that I really let rip. If TES is now a DfE tool, I'm really glad. If not, well it was cathartic.

Back to planning for another week of fun-filled live lessons hunched over a laptop...

PriscillaChinchilla · 24/01/2021 18:02

For what it's worth, and I won't be getting into any arguments about it, I can understand why the posters refugee'd on here were kicked off. Furthermore, I'm glad I don't moderate any fora. So much hassle.
For those who claim to be completely innocent of all charges, I'm going to leave a quote by Robert Burns, and then I'm not going to post on here again because it's just depressing.

“O, wad some Power the giftie gie us
To see oursels as others see us!

"How do you know "it is still stored for the moment"? (the data) do you have some insider knowledge? Because I have had sight of a reply to a GDPR request, which states that once the decision was taken to close the community all the data was erased."
Without sight of this GDPR & its response I cannot speak to it or around it.

Ethnic poetry is so authentic.
Like that Billy Bragg fellow.

"I'm not sure why you ask given that you have written off the new venture, but they are used in internal communications platforms for some businesses/organisations."
Simple curiosity abut a thing you said.
It is not like I am asking you to justify yourself, or anything like that.

"greenbeetles

A spy?

Why?"

When one is expelled, a spy is necessary. I am not , after all, clairvoyant.

I am merely following your lead my dear. By all accounts, you and the other dears are having a veritable picnic discussing the goings on of the evicted here. Do carry on!

Given that this scenario has rightly been likened to a fifties/sixties cold war scenario, you are batting correctly.

By all accounts the very great Mr Lanokia has not been heard of since 11th January - around the time that the whip was being lashed heartily.

I have repeatedly asked you not to address me like that. Now stop it please.
ilovesooty · 24/01/2021 19:08

And don't call me "my dear" either. I think you'll find it doesn't go down well on a site where the vast majority of members are women.

Yes a very popular poster. I wonder if he has been banned as well? His political opinions would certainly mark him out for Voldemorts wrath.
