You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Do not give the staffroom password just in case it attracts the wrong sort

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation.

If you come with a stick to goad us then that is not allowed in the staffroom and you will receive a detention

Sorry you are feeling sick luckiest

I’m feeling crap too. But mines because I had a bit too much baileys last night Grin I’m such a lightweight now.

Get well soon.

It doesn’t feel like schools will be open as normal come 11th Jan. Sad so not looking forward to online learning.

OpheliasCrayon · 22/12/2020 14:02

@RuleWithAWoodenFoot

Panic in my house... I printed out a picture of Gregg Wallace with his chest out as part of a Christmas card for partner, now I can't find the picture. Someone is going to wonder what on earth is going on when they find that.

Enjoy

Thanks WhenShe!

Baileys might help to be honest. I'll try later 😉

Ah luckiest, yes it was you Thanks get well soon. And I hope the test is negative and it's an unlucky normal virus. This is a rare Xmas as I'm usually either battling severe tonsillitis or a chest infection by now.

NeurotreeWenceslas · 22/12/2020 14:06

Rule your Netflix comment had me in stitches btw.

NeurotreeWenceslas · 22/12/2020 14:07

I'm leaving the gloop (now dry) and flour.

I'm doing a big tidy and clean on weds I reckon.

Viciouslybashed · 22/12/2020 14:09

Sooo do we think that primary schools will close. I am finding myself dreading the thought of going back in January.

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 22/12/2020 14:14

I was THIS close to giving my class the 'open in case of emergency' pack I've got ready for home learning... THIS FUCKING CLOSE. If this gets announced again, I'm going to go into school and pay with my own money to post them the stuff. There is no way half my class will do anything without a paper pack to do it on/with.

Achristmaspudsskidu · 22/12/2020 14:15

I’m sure that DFail headline has just changed-it’s all about parental fury now!!

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 22/12/2020 14:18

Reprinted - he now has a pop up Gregg Wallace Christmas card... need to think of some standard 'absolute bollocks' Gregg Wallace comments now.

It's gooey, it's sweet, you've got softness AND hardness..

Viciouslybashed · 22/12/2020 14:19

The parental fury is so depressing as it shows how little our lives and safety matters to these people. I'm hoping it is not actually representative of most parents.

Were your school not set up to have parents able to collect stuff from the office if they have no printers ?

I work in a mainstream one day a week (long term supply to cover some more bills lol) and they have someone in the office so parents can come in socially distanced to collect paper copies if they have no ICT options at home?

No criticisms on you - @RuleWithAWoodenFoot though! I just wondered about your school set-up.

'Laaaavely! Needs more sugar.'

'Phwoar. I'd marry that.'

😁

Yep. Less than half picked them up.

No I don't think so. I think they should have plans in place for tier 4. But it won't happen.

I've just laughed out loud. In a queue for cheese.

Ah shit
RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 22/12/2020 14:43

There were 28 kids in the class that went off in my phase - they went home over a weekend, so test result Sunday, didn't come in on Monday. 12 packs got picked up - some of them not until the last 3 days.

Two of the children who attended all Teams lessons and completed all the work, didn't pick packs up, but were able to print out stuff at home.

Only 4 children regularly attended Teams lessons, most children only turned up to 1 or 2 of them.

Viciouslybashed · 22/12/2020 14:49

So if they aren't going to close or not re open what is all the drama about home schooling. I am just going to ignore it all from now on as it just makes me cross or sad.

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 22/12/2020 15:07

There are a lot of anxious, upset and angry people around - this is an outlet. Just stay away from it if you're not in the mood to deal with it.

Piggyinblankets · 22/12/2020 15:08

Well, the French don't want the trusty lateral flow test used on lorry drivers!!

SmileEachDay · 22/12/2020 15:28

Why is there parental fury?

WhenSheWasBad · 22/12/2020 15:33

Why is there parental fury

To be fair home schooling small children is not fun. It’s seriously hard when you are also trying to work from home.

Just wish parents would get angry at the government instead of teachers.

noelgiraffe · 22/12/2020 15:35

Well that Daily Mail story was doing its best to paint the situation as the unions pushing for school closures, even though Gav already unilaterally made that decision for the first week back to the surprise of everyone.
