You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Do not give ‘The Every twat for Themselves mob’ the staffroom password as a number of them are operating in an alternative reality.

No DfE muppets allowed

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the toffee vodka is hidden.

If you are fed up with cakes and biscuits there is now a cheeseboard on offer

If you come with a stick to goad us then that is not allowed in the staffroom and you will receive a detention

I’m still not over being called a fan girl on noble’s thread the other day 😂😂

mother your thread is definitely proving that people cannot see that there is anything between the current shitshow and total school closure.

motherrunner · 27/10/2020 09:11

@SmileEachDay I’m jealous that you were called a ‘fan girl’. I want to be @noblegiraffe’s No 1 fan 😆

So true. And over the summer we were accused of being ‘inflexible’ in our approaches.

Piggywaspushed · 27/10/2020 09:13

I mean, seriously, how thick are the DfE??

noblegiraffe · 27/10/2020 09:14

Whatever the opposite of a fan girl is, I seem to have a lot of those!

starrynight19 · 27/10/2020 09:14

Am so glad to actually see an article talking about this.
I wrote to my mp last week about it. I still haven’t heard anything back but did see him on the news earlier talking about the northern powerhouse.

Piggywaspushed · 27/10/2020 09:14

I was called 'one of the more reasonable' posters on a thread!

must try harder

Piggywaspushed · 27/10/2020 09:15

Oh, God , is your MP Jake Berry??! Poor you.

SmileEachDay · 27/10/2020 09:15

I’m jealous that you were called a ‘fan girl

I think was only “one of the fan girls” if that helps?

I mean, seriously, how thick are the DfE??

Ooh! I know! Pick me! I know this one!

MrsHamlet · 27/10/2020 09:16

Let's tender for that contract. I reckon we could have the answers by Thursday and then get very drunk on the profits.

120k to conduct ‘research’.

We’re in the wrong game.

noblegiraffe · 27/10/2020 09:17

Did anyone have a look at the report into Operation Cygnus, that pandemic simulation exercise in 2016?

There was a little table at the end with tick boxes so you could see which areas of the exercise various groups had engaged with, like PHE NE and the Department of Transport.

There were zero ticks in the DfE boxes.

motherrunner · 27/10/2020 09:19

Speaks volumes @noblegiraffe

Piggywaspushed · 27/10/2020 09:19

I don't want to c and p from another thread but hop over to the data thread to see what MRex has figured out about teachers' infection rates.

SmileEachDay · 27/10/2020 09:20

I’m in. My maths is shit but I can write up the results to make them mean anything you want 🤷🏻‍♀️

Perfect person for the job then!
noblegiraffe · 27/10/2020 09:29

@motherrunner

Must admit my thread is quite restrained at the moment!
Sorry Blush
motherrunner · 27/10/2020 09:30

@noblegiraffe Taking a different turn now 😆

MrsHamlet · 27/10/2020 09:33

What is wrong with those people????

Mistressiggi · 27/10/2020 09:48

I see the talking point on Jeremy Vine just now is "Should schools close to older pupils?" Noble, you've been busy this morning Wink

TheHoneyBadger · 27/10/2020 09:51

There does seem to be more talk of closing to older kids and boris and his boys do like a drip feed.

Wouldn't really effect me as I don't teach year 11 or sixth form currently and ds is in year 9.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 27/10/2020 09:53

If we are tendering for contracts we might as well go in for a PPE one as well. I’ve heard those pay really well and no experience is necessary.

noblegiraffe · 27/10/2020 09:54

They all say I'm campaigning to close schools. How does one accidentally campaign to close schools?

Apparently by starting threads about schools data.

Schools closing is their conclusion, not mine!

MrsHamlet · 27/10/2020 09:54

I'm up for that Rafals
Got to speculate to accumulate, after all.

noblegiraffe · 27/10/2020 09:55

I can definitely knock up a report on how DfE actions have affected teacher retention rates. Give me a weekend. Might need someone to redact the swearing though.

SmileEachDay · 27/10/2020 10:26

Might need someone to redact the swearing though

I’ve taught my Y10s to swear through the tone of their writing. I’ll get them to have a look at it.
