You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Do not give ‘The Every twat for Themselves mob’ the staffroom password as a number of them are operating in an alternative reality.

No DfE muppets allowed

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the toffee vodka is hidden.

If you are fed up with cakes and biscuits there is now a cheeseboard on offer

If you come with a stick to goad us then that is not allowed in the staffroom, especially if yo

well in my DC's school there hasn't been one case

It's because they're sooooo well organised, monkey. One way systems and hand sanitisers creating a protective force field.

We've not had any cases in my school yet. Pure luck. And entirely possible that kids have had it and not been picked up.

WhyNotMe40 · 06/10/2020 20:39

Cases in my school's catchment area have literally doubled since they "found" all the missed cases.
Personally I don't believe it's only been a week of missed cases because about 2 weeks ago I was aware of too many cases that the map was just not registering. It didn't add up.
As well as mid cycle bleeding I now appear to have Covid toes. Ffs

WhyNotMe40 · 06/10/2020 20:39

I had a test not so long ago and it was negative incidentally.

WhyNotMe40 · 06/10/2020 20:42

I am highly suspicious of how many kids we have had off recently with "bad cold"s or "d&v". I totally empathise that parents won't want to go through the hassle of getting tests and isolating /missing work etc, especially after that letter telling parents NOT to test kids. But there must be more cases than are being picked up in schools.

We've not had a case yet but that's simply because it's not in our school community. Based on the way our parents are behaving, if someone does get it, it'll run through the school very quickly.

Me too, WhyNotMe40.
In fact, I'm sick to death of all the gas-lighting and obfuscation and bloody lies (Trump!) everywhere you look.
Had enough. Sad

@BelleSausage that response was genius!

Yup, definitely agree.

Keepdistance · 06/10/2020 21:23

On BRtUS someone was saying how she had kept both kids off as 1 had contact only to get told off by school.
But then their own kid came back positive from a study...Asymptomatic. Not the contact one i think
Just goes to show if there are cases there are others there.

Surely they have restarted school trips to the Houses of Parliament.

The measures like masks dont even cost the gov.
I honestly believe they are going to get sued as they are the employer who is not allowing people to protect themselves. When it wouldnt impact on the job.

@monkeytennis97

Anyone else feel like we are doing tag team/whack a mole on all these bloody school threads where you get idiots saying 'well in my DC's school there hasn't been one case'etc etc?! 😤
always but sometimes it the same moles that keep popping up with different usernames. Their game is called 'Bait the teacher'

Everyone keeps praising the unis' proactivity in having their own testing and unearthing all these cases. Imagine if we had routine testing and pop up testing in schools!!

StaffAssociationRepresentative · 06/10/2020 21:40

I actually challenged a sixth former today who has been in and out of school recently. Coughing away at the back of the class. Very suspicious. A couple of other kids put masks on - they know! She said she was suffering from sinusitis ....

Me too.

GravityFalls · 06/10/2020 21:43

My level 2 class of about 13 was non-stop coughing and sneezing this morning. Bloody ridiculous.

Piggywaspushed · 06/10/2020 21:51

The government has done a fantastic job of persuading people not to get children tested. That way they can fiddle the school figures.

Exactly. Ignore the symptoms kids get. Ignore the fact that most kids will be asymptomatic. Put the guilt on if you are even thinking about "taking a test away from those who need it". And now - only isolate a few closest contacts, ignoring aerosol spread.

Yay - such a way to go....

CallmeAngelina · 06/10/2020 22:05

Got it in one, piggy.
I've suspected this for a long time, but was wondering if I was just too old and cynical. Nice to know you are too! Grin

Oh! Oh well! Worth emphasising...

Piggywaspushed · 06/10/2020 22:08

You calling me old ange??

ChloeDecker · 06/10/2020 22:28

That graphic is just another slap in the face at the moment. I feel that the unions are letting many down at the moment by not fighting this.

Mistressiggi · 06/10/2020 22:41

I've a union meeting soon and I can't really be bothered going. (I will) we are fiddling with hand sanitiser and windows and ignoring the massive risks we cannot mitigate.

WhyNotMe40 · 06/10/2020 22:44

I really don't understand why the unions aren't advising section 44 walk outs.
All the increasing evidence of serious and immediate risk.
Maybe it's boiling frog? The evidence is coming in dribs and drabs?

This could be part of the problem. But I think a lot of people are just fed up of Covid (or they are scared they will lose their job/business, which must be bloody awful).

They won’t care how bad it’s got until they or an immediate loved one are severely ill with it. A month ago it was fine because the numbers of cases were low. Then it was ok because no one was in hospital. Now people say it’s ok as very few are dying of Covid.

People want their lives back so desperately, they don’t seem to really care that it involves others putting themselves in harms way.
