You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Do not give ‘The Every twat for Themselves mob’ the staffroom password as a number of them are operating in an alternative reality.

No DfE muppets allowed

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the toffee vodka is hidden.

If you are fed up with cakes and biscuits there is now a cheeseboard on offer

If you come with a stick to goad us then that is not allowed in the staffroom, especially if you have not used the hand gel. Close the door quietly on your way out and put your mask on

We are in a local lockdown area which begins Tuesday. Although where we live has a decreasing trend 🤷‍♀️ as does the area I work in... but having seen the infographic a few pages back maybe that’s not a true reflection and is why we are going in to lockdown.

I regret not going to the supermarket Thursday on my day off before the announcement. I am in a queue to get on to the car park (DH driving). We use a wholesaler for meat, fruit and veg but they have a limited stock of fish and groceries and no veggie alternatives.

Fucknuts.

monkeytennis97 · 20/09/2020 10:58

@SaltyAndFresh

They lied to us, there are cases in schools and the unions are doing the square root of fuck all to support us.

My throat is raging but as it's not a symptom I'd better just rest today and crack on tomorrow, because I'm too run down to avoid being absent with Covid as soon as it takes off. It's scary.

Love this... square root of fuck all is spot on. Thank you everyone for your best wishes. DS is home, love him so much. We are going to have a lovely day doing the things he loves.

Enjoy your day with your DS, monkey Flowers

motherrunner · 20/09/2020 11:01

@monkeytennis97 This is one of the best posts I’ve read for a while 😊

Mu close colleague ahs just eben tested positive. She only got tested because her little girl had sypmtoms and the testers insisted on doing her too. baby cmae back negative but friend cam back positive!

her DH works somewhere where they get tested all the time and just had a negative test.

Oh I wonder where my friend picked this up then, deniers of MN??

I had a cuppa with her last Tuesday but we stringently socially distanced so am hoping I'll not be contact traced. She does , however, share an office with our HOD...

DollyMixtureLulus · 20/09/2020 12:13

I wonder whether Nicola will try and one up Boris by announcing something tomorrow. What the something is, I don’t know. This is beginning to feel like those first weeks in March again.

At least we are off for our long weekend this week.

Monkey have a fabulous day Flowers

MrsHamlet · 20/09/2020 12:19

Have a fantastic day, monkey
I'm off to Aldi .... oh the glamour!!

NeurotrashWarrior · 20/09/2020 12:23

Ah shit piggy. Ahhhh this is all shit.

I'm feeling a tad under the weather today. Keep taking my temp as I feel a bit achey.

Piggywaspushed · 20/09/2020 12:27

We all know what I think of my school's procedures.

Be interesting to see what happens now.

Does anyone know their time frame for contact tracing??

MsAwesomeDragon · 20/09/2020 12:32

That's worrying piggy. I hope your friend is ok (and obviously I hope you haven't caught it from her)

Have a fabulous day monkey I hope your ds enjoys all you've got planned.

My parents, dd1 and dsis are all under local restrictions either now or from Tuesday. So I don't think I'll be allowed to go and visit them any time soon. Not that I was planning to visit my parents since they are very vulnerable and I am a much higher risk than anyone else they see (mainly my brother who wfh and the Tesco delivery driver). But I had thought I could visit dsis one weekend, and dd1 another weekend. Not looking likely now.

MsAwesomeDragon · 20/09/2020 12:35

Contact tracing should be done asap piggy but I don't actually know exact time frames, sorry. My school had notice of a positive pupil case last Friday and all pupil close contacts had been informed by Saturday and told the procedure for them. Staff, however, weren't told til Monday.

Piggywaspushed · 20/09/2020 12:39

Sorry for not being clear : I meant how far back do they go?

NeurotrashWarrior · 20/09/2020 12:40

Well our Head contacted all who needed to be contacted as soon as he knew.

It's awful and shows how you simply can't rely on people getting tests with symptoms. And yes, the rubbish procedures you have...

NeurotrashWarrior · 20/09/2020 12:41

I was told 48 hours

ohthegoats · 20/09/2020 12:42

I don't watch the news, so only pick up bits of info here and there. Massive queue at Sainsburys this morning (I wasn't going in), so I guess something is going on here. I was on my way to Tesco for a normal shop, so we're OK for awhile now.

MsAwesomeDragon · 20/09/2020 12:42

I was told 48 hours as well.

ohthegoats · 20/09/2020 12:42

Oh, and quickly going to visit my parents today and my brother/nephews later in the afternoon. Get it all done.

TheHoneyBadger · 20/09/2020 12:46

My throat is a bit better again today. Was awful on Thursday night and Friday.

Have just done a few hours work and gotten ahead of myself a bit. No point going too far ahead given how changeable things are.

Sorry to those going into further restrictions. I’ll take your troubles as a heads up to book my shopping deliveries now for the next few weeks.

Augustbreeze · 20/09/2020 12:48

Staff surely have to be told of a positive child ASAP so that they can highlight any risky situations that SLT/bods simply looking at the students' timetable wouldn't be aware of! Either involving staff members or other students.

Have a lovely day monkey.

If Nicola S announces stuff before Boris it may be painted by some as oneupmanship, but I'd say it would actually be because she is sensible and can see the need for quick action.

(I dreamt about Boris announcing a new lockdown last night! Also that cats were crazily climbing up wet cellar walls and this meant things were getting very serious indeed Confused)

TheHoneyBadger · 20/09/2020 12:49

Having dinner in my parents garden with niece and nephew today. Weather won’t be good enough soon and ds and I won’t go into their house as we are too high risk due to school so need to make the most of seeing them.

Right off to mass book Tesco deliveries 🚚
