@Piggywaspushed has requested Lemon Drizzle. I think I might prefer carrot cake.

And who doesn’t love a chocolate hob nob?

At the school I did my NQT at, there were always tea, coffee and biscuits in the staff room at break. I became a bit addicted to custard creams!

noblegiraffe · 21/04/2020 18:41

Oreos. The vanilla ones.

StaffAssociationRepresentative · 21/04/2020 20:12

One school I worked at had tea and cake at Thursday breaktime without fail : mini battenburgs, vienese swirls, custard creams, jammie dodgers, brownies (yukkie ones) and flapjacks.

Crisps. Quavers. My go to breaktime food.

BumTitTit25 · 21/04/2020 22:05

We used to get Krispy Kremes in a Friday! Grin

mnahmnah · 21/04/2020 22:06

Ooh Co-Op’s fancy biscuits in a box, stem ginger and dark chocolate please

DrMadelineMaxwell · 21/04/2020 22:24

Chocolate hobnobs!

Wavingnotdrown1ng · 21/04/2020 22:29

Scones with jam and cream (homebaked, obvs)

Piggywaspushed · 21/04/2020 22:49

Oh, I see I get my lemon drizzle!

For savouries, I'd like Twiglets please.

At my first school we actually had a tea lady at break with biccies and really bad tea made in one of those metal pots. And an actual hour and a bit for lunch and we went to the PUB on Fridays.

I miss the 90s...

BackforGood · 21/04/2020 23:14

Those posh, really thick cookies.

The best cakes are too messy to eat in the staffroom - whoever could find a clean plate an do more than dream of there being a fork you could use ? It clearly needs to be something you can pick up with one hand and walk down the corridor with.

noblegiraffe · 21/04/2020 23:17

Oh will if this is a fantasy staffroom and not an actual staffroom, then Marks and Spencer Extremely Chocolatey biscuits.

SallyLovesCheese · 21/04/2020 23:23

Not oreos! You end up with black bits in between your teeth well I do, anyway !

Fox's Chocolatey Milk Chocolate Rounds... dribble

mnahmnah · 21/04/2020 23:27

@Piggywaspushed

We still have a tea lady every break with a big metal teapot! No food though. Except the aforementioned fancy co-op biscuits, the day after open evenings etc as a thank you

noblegiraffe · 21/04/2020 23:28

That’s why it’s the vanilla Oreos not the chocolate ones, Sally! The best Oreos.

mnahmnah · 21/04/2020 23:28

@Piggywaspushed and we went to the pub on Fridays until 2005 when they shortened lunch to 45 mins. There was uproar

Stella8686 · 21/04/2020 23:41

You said chocolate hob nobs before I could!

BackforGood · 21/04/2020 23:46

I was clearly in the wrong school(s) in the 90s.
I do remember working with teachers who remember going to the pub on a Friday lunchtime, but at the end of the 80s they were reminiscing about such times.
It's never been a 'thing' since I've been at work, sadly.

noblegiraffe · 21/04/2020 23:50

I went to the pub on a Friday lunchtime and I didn’t qualify till 2005! I reckon we made it till about 2007.

emilybrontescorsett · 21/04/2020 23:52

Chocolate digestives.

BackforGood · 21/04/2020 23:58

Maybe it is a secondary / Primary divide ?
In those days of 75minute "breaks" at lunch, we used to spend 30mins each day, during the Autumn Term, teaching our littlies how to sit at a table, hold a knife and fork, hold a conversation without spitting food, etc

Chienloup · 21/04/2020 23:59

M&S Salted Caramel Chocolate Teacakes. (The marshmallow kind, not the toasted kind).

Chienloup · 22/04/2020 00:01

We also used to go to the pub on Friday lunchtimes in the early 2000s. Not to drink alcohol though, we would be back 2 hours later for that, on the dot of 3.15.

StaffAssociationRepresentative · 22/04/2020 00:15

Pub is now only occasionally on Friday after school

OP posts:
SallyLovesCheese · 22/04/2020 07:05

Noble, I haven't heard of such things as vanilla oreos before! You mean, I can eat oreos without getting lots of little black bits in between my teeth?!

Chienloup They sound delish! Salted caramel is guaranteed to make me want to try it!

I did, as an NQT in about 2006, manage a couple of pub lunches, but we had to phone and order at morning break so the food was ready by the time got there. Could not imagine doing that now!

cheesecurdsandgravy · 22/04/2020 08:19

God, I’d love some biscuits or cake. I’m not that fussy what. Although, to be honest, I’m already eating enough of both to justify health complications Blush

Can I be a dick and ask for a bowl of fruit? A posh one so that I’m tempered to stick to it?!
