@Piggywaspushed has requested Lemon Drizzle. I think I might prefer carrot cake.

And who doesn’t love a chocolate hob nob?

We had an amazing tea lady until about 2010. She was the former head dinner lady and had been at the school since 19oatcake. She knew everyone and their favourite mug and how they had their tea/coffee. She washed up afterwards too.

She was paid for by the tea club. Everyone (80 or so staff) paid for the tea, coffee, milk etc through subs and the tea lady's wage came out of that. Obv she was only doing an hour a day and was there more for the craic than anything.

When she officially retired the contribution to her gift was massive and we had a huge party.

I really miss her.

I am now craving a viennese whirl! We also went to the pub on a Friday in my first school (early 90s) I used to have a prawn sandwich and a packet of crisps!

I bring in brownies to my staff room. Have to be my mum’s homemade ones and they always get devoured. She makes the best brownies.

Someone else at work brings in homemade onion bhajis and they are heavenly!

These ones Sally, they come in a yellow packet and are AMAZING.

Oh god, noble they look divine! I don't think my local Tesco sells them though I don't go in and scan the biscuit aisle for delicious treats so I know exactly what they've got on the shelves, oh no

I have just polished off a small packet of normal Oreos thins - another delish snack but only because I've already done my video meetings for the day.

How about homemade flapjacks with cherries?

When I worked in a boarding school as an NQT, (2007 i think?) we used to have homemade cake at breaktime on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday (yes proper Saturday lessons until 1pm!) and fruit on Tuesday and Thursday. We used to get hungry on fruit days so would go to the boarding houses under pretext of looking for a child and snaffle a piece of toast at the same time Grin. We also had sandwiches at 3pm provided in the staffroom for staff who had sports at 3.15pm and then dinner was at 5.30pm for kids and teachers on duty. Staff having dinner would get to use the posh dining room which also had a cheese board available. If you were going on an early school trip you could grab a bacon sandwich from breakfast. I bloody loved that job-in all sorts of ways, but the food was definitely a highlight!

Nowadays (state school) My expectations are much simpler-I’m happy with custard creams or Jaffa cakes!

ChloeDecker · 22/04/2020 18:17

Just thinking, from another thread, shall we do a ‘staff quiz’ this Friday?!

StaffAssociationRepresentative · 22/04/2020 20:55

@ChloeDecker - great idea. I love a quiz

pinkrocker · 22/04/2020 20:58

Jaffa cakes - best buy the big box! as I've been known to eat a while box in one sitting
And yes a quiz!

Piggywaspushed · 22/04/2020 21:03

I found pineapple Jaffa Cakes in the Co Op!!

mnahmnah · 22/04/2020 21:05

LOVE quizzes

Pineapple Jaffas sound amazing

And yes, I have also spent a day answering emails, all of which were avoidable. Read the instructions. Meet the deadline. Grrr.

MsJaneAusten · 22/04/2020 21:07

Careful, someone will be along soon to claim their tax pays for our biscuits or to ask us to evaluate the effectiveness of our time spent discussing biscuits...

I’m totally in for the quiz though.

SallyLovesCheese · 22/04/2020 22:10

Love a quiz! Do it on here or a different platform? I have a lockdown-themed quiz I made but not sure how I'd administer it on here.

Piggywaspushed · 22/04/2020 22:14

My DS1 and DS2 write family quizzes . They're very cute.

They are rather specialised on obscure facts about lower tier football, however...

DreamingofBrie · 23/04/2020 22:50

I wonder if @teacherglitter from Twitter is here? I did particularly enjoy her baking post this evening!

Morning all! Here are the breaktime quiz questions for today.
How about trying to post answers at a set time today and then I can mark them to see who the winner(s) are? What time does everyone think?
If someone can put the kettle on later and get the biscuits out!
