Let's boycott all school threads outside of Education

Honestly guys we are getting a kicking on other threads. We repeatedly have to explain our contracts, holidays, why we are not doing more online, why we should be doing less on ...... it is never ending. So far we have been off for the Easter break plus a max of two weeks. There is a lot of the population that do not need childcare. We are open for key worker children but that gets ignored. All the social distancing issues are ignored. All the ppe requirements are ignored. Now it could be that the trolls just see us as an easy target, hence all the forlough calls. So as a union member, I am requesting that teachers do not have to explain themselves on other threads as we are just fueling the fire. (I have been guilty of this).

So I am calling for a union boycott!

It's me the op with a name change lol

@mynameisMrG welcome to the staff association- your support is appreciated

Stygimoloch · 19/04/2020 19:52

It’s great to see all the flowers on that thread. I feel less angry reading it!

StaffAssociationRepresentative · 19/04/2020 19:55

@greathat - welcome the idea is to support our profession in terms of mental health and professional standing. We are not to get bogged down in explaining or constantly having to repeat ourselves.

selfisolationsociety · 19/04/2020 20:03

I have worked for the police and I work in a school but not in a teaching role. I live with someone who has a shielding letter and one of my children has asthma, I have struggled with google chrome waves fist google classroom, unfortunately my youngest (yr 4) hasn’t had a lot of home learning, I looked at the curriculum, went onto twinkl printed out stuff, planned lessons, I don’t need to bother the school, I can manage, I’ve given one old laptop away and offered another to my eldest secondary school today, life is crap for a lot people, schools are shut for 6 weeks over summer and this had been 4??? Or 3, might need some maths sheets for myself, any way people cope for 6 weeks over summer think everyone needs to calm down, coming from policing I learned you’re dammed if you and dammed if you don’t, whatever you do is wrong, no one is going to be happy. I’m happy to go back when it’s safe and when I know the children are safe, I’m safe, teachers are safe and I’m not going to bring it home and kill my Nan. You all do a great job and this is new for everyone. Stay strong and stay safe x

Piggywaspushed · 19/04/2020 20:08

Thank you and sorry that there have been increased police bashing threads, too.

Piggywaspushed · 19/04/2020 20:09

I liked your previous name OP but this one is fab!

StaffAssociationRepresentative · 19/04/2020 20:22

@selfisolationsociety - thank you for your kind words.

@Piggywaspushed - I am fired up! I really want MN to step up to the mark on this and not just for coranavirus as this has been going on for too long

FrippEnos · 19/04/2020 20:26

Yup. Loving the new name OP

TheEmojiFormerlyKnownAsPrince · 19/04/2020 20:29

I’m getting sucked into another one.🙈Helpppp

FrippEnos · 19/04/2020 20:34

TheEmojiFormerlyKnownAsPrince

Just posting flowers especially after the "i don't agree" comment.

It is good to see so many flowers through out various threads.

StaffAssociationRepresentative · 19/04/2020 20:37

@TheEmojiFormerlyKnownAsPrince - stay strong! The GFs will suck you in.

We all have to prepare for the onslaught this week #solidarity

TheEmojiFormerlyKnownAsPrince · 19/04/2020 20:46

Something popped up on my fb feed about schools being closed.

100’s of posts saying what a fab job schools were doing. Really supportive.

And yet it’s like 🐍pit on here!🤷🏼‍♀️

pooiepooie25 · 19/04/2020 20:47

Thank you so much for setting up this thread. I don't usually let social media get to me- but I was getting so pissed off at the vitriol posted by people with zero idea about anything.

RigaBalsam · 19/04/2020 20:49

Bloody hell now they are complaining about the on site provision can't win with these fools.

RunningRoo · 19/04/2020 20:50

I don’t often post on mumsnet but am appalled at how vitriolic some posts have been today. It’s all so unnecessary and unkind. The flowers are a great idea!

TheEmojiFormerlyKnownAsPrince · 19/04/2020 20:55

I’m winding people up at the moment😈l know it’s not in the spirit but it kind of makes me feel better😳

NeurotrashWarrior · 19/04/2020 21:19

Missed this, won't bother attempting any reasonable discussion elsewhere again!

LolaSmiles · 19/04/2020 21:35

I'm taking the approach of a couple of reasonable replies and then leaving flowers.

At least that way there's some reasonable replies for lurkers to balance the ridiculous posts.

WhiteWriting · 19/04/2020 21:46

Cheers for this thread - this pandemic has really shown many people up for the ignorant, selfish fuckers they are! Flowers duly laid x

StaffAssociationRepresentative · 19/04/2020 21:48

@pooiepooie25 @NeurotrashWarrior @RunningRoo - welcome to the Staff Association! This is a supportive thread for all staff and supporters who have been ground down by GFs and whingers.

When a thread starts to descend into teacher/education bashing just Flowers. Don't get dragged into any debate about job terms and conditions etc.

At the moment I am ignoring the thread telling us to use Zoom as all the Zoom problems have been fixed. Great but I have to use Teams as that is what we have been authorised to use by the school. Ah well

StaffAssociationRepresentative · 19/04/2020 21:49

@WhiteWriting - welcome and thank you #solidarity

practicallyperfectwithprosecco · 19/04/2020 22:05

So what time do we reckon will the first whinge about schools /teachers / government's learning resources be tomorrow?

9:01?

StaffAssociationRepresentative · 19/04/2020 22:11

8am

StaffAssociationRepresentative · 19/04/2020 22:11

Because they will realise it is an INSET day

AnneElliott · 19/04/2020 22:17

MN is really nasty at the moment. The police thread was horrible. Too many people with too much time on their hands.
