Could we ask MN for no more teacher bashing threads do you think?

It's hard enough without being told we're "twiddling thumbs"
I'm really, honestly trying so hard right now. And I'm sure thousands more are as well.
I don't want to make excuses or feel sad for myself or start championing us, but can we just have a break please?
MN is full of arguments against us, angry justifications of opinions from both sides.
I understand why people are frustrated, but could we ask MN for people to take a break, please Sad

Could one of the other adults not do some activities with your child?

IncrediblySadToo · 28/04/2020 18:49

I'm very supportive of teachers on threads & in general.

I love kids, but the red tape & parents would have me on the gin!

However, some of your own really don't help your cause...

Please don't come into the staffroom to start a barney. We are not arguing. We are supporting and coping and one teacher making a comment ( maybe not even really a teacher) is not all teachers . Just like I wouldn't pop into a GP or nurses "room" and say "Hey, you are great and all but this nurse the other day was shit", it would be helpful if you didn't do it here. Thanks.

I support teachers and all they do but right now I feel as a parent that our family has been quite unsupported by the school. It is a challenge to receive an email telling you the teachers won’t be available or able to do more than offer a few word documents and links to online maths games as ‘the majority are parents and have their own children to look after and homeschool’, when you’re trying to do that AND single handedly hold down a full time job 8 hours a day. Even worse when those teachers are posting on Facebook what a lovely time they’re having (full pay, let’s not forget!) in the garden.
This is a parenting site. Parents have children, who generally go through the education system. You can’t censor people airing what they feel.

I've had some nice times in the garden. And then worked in the evening when the children are in bed. So what?

It's always the same. There's a lovely supportive sentence, then a "but", then a slagging off. Again: this is the staffroom.

Unless you want to sign up and teach? That'd be great - we are haemorrhaging staff this year. No bugger seems to think it's as easy and marvellous as you do. They're all leaving. Come and join us in the staffroom as staff!

Brew and Cake for everyone this morning.

In my reality I think the teacher-bashing has eased up a little this term? Any work set for the day needs to be submitted by 6pm, so I don't begin marking till after 9pm when my own dc have gone to bed. Personally I'm impressed by what my own dc teachers have done over the Easter break - everything seems to be much more settled now.

My sister in law is a teacher in Lithuania and she works from home. The kids have computers so they get their daily lessons. Some act up that the microphone is not working as it is a live feed so she just tells them to email and all of a sudden hey presto the mic works again there is no rest for her or the kids it is business as usual i am sure the same could have been happening here as we are supposed to be one of the richest countries in the world our government could not run a bingo session
