My oldest son came to me earlier asking how to spell 'snorkeling', I told him he should check the dictionary (he can be lazy). My youngest straight away says "I'll help you big bro" and wrote it down, no help at all. I know he is quite advanced but would be nice to know how much by.

OP I've worked everywhere between nursery and year 3. Work IS differentiated in reception but you have to remember that the prime areas of learning are physical development, personal social and emotional development, communication and language. NOT literacy.

There is much less focus on driving forward in a linear way in the curriculum because the key now is greater depth. Our aim is to get ALL children to a standard. Not to rocket some individuals through in specific areas.
