Work clothes

What do you wear for work? I'm in need of a work wardrobe. Trousers, blouse? Dress, tights, leggings? I'm primary and 40 if that helps.

I wouldn't wear that - wrap and windy playgrounds - also quite low cut for when you are leaning across children. Not for my body shape - really like the dress though and what a bargain! I wear all sorts - dresses, trousers, dreaded tunic/trouser combo, skirt/top/tunic.

Does your school have a dress code?

I wear trousers (often cords) or a flared knee length skirt with a selection of black t-shirts both long and short sleeved. Sometimes a cardigan if it is cold.
Dresses with pockets, tights and boots.
Tunics, leggings and boots.

Uniqlo is good for workwear, and pockets are standard for so much of their range.

We wear pjs, as we work nights in a dementia unit.

The building I work in is cold, so tweed midi skirts, warm tights, knee-high boots and wool jumpers/scarves in winter ...luckily we can dress reasonably casually so can get away looking like I'm on a country retreat. I'd wear tailored skirts, blouse/jacket, sheer tights and shoes if the heating worked.

I had 5 pairs of linen trousers and a selection of blouses, all the same pattern but in different colours.

There are signs I am on the spectrum.

I’m also a dress wearer, I get mine from Seasalt, The White Company, Joules and Hobbs (in the sale but I’ve got some really good knitted dresses from there). Thick tights (got a tattoo that needs covered) and a blazer as I’m secondary and code is business smart (same as year 12 &13).

I've bought some nice tunic-style dresses with pockets from Woolovers. (A lot of their stuff is quite frumpy, but there's the odd gem.) Bizarrely, I also got a great tunic dress from Mountain Warehouse in a sale.

Uniqlo is also good.

Oh, and Snag tights. No longer do I have to keep disappearing into the stock cupboard to hoick my tights up!

Lol-I would love to wear pyjamas. Less realistic on a discussion board for teachers though, lovely as it would be!

I either wear black skinny trousers and a jumper, A line skirt and top or a knee length dress-White Stuff/Joules/Boden etc With Boots-mostly Fly as they are so comfy.

Most of our staff wear black trousers and a blouse or jumper depending on how good the heating is. Dresses are great with thick tights as you don't have to think of 2 items that go together.

Black trousers, long loose shirts or tunics, short boots or converse and a scarf. I wear the same black trousers everyday which is boring but necessary because i'm menopausal and currently need to take in spares in case of flooding. Likewise all shirts need to be loose because of hot flushes! This is fine for primary but when I taught secondary I wore trouser suits or suit trousers with thin jumpers and more formal shoes. Everything is designed so I can lean over a desk without flashing and get up from a chair / the floor likewise.

Totally agree about smart clothing in secondary: students can be very critical indeed of scruffy or ancient clothing. But possibly not eye-wateringly expensive...school environments can be tough on clothes.

Most of the year, jumper jeans, and boots , when the weather gets warmer I wear my converse. In the spring I wear chinos, T-shirt and a carry with my converse. If I’m feeling really cold and want to be cosy I’ll wear tracksuit pants, hoody and trainers though. So really I can wear a mixture.

Oh and I’m also a primary school teacher

I'm training to be a teaching assistant and teachers and assistants tend to wear nice trousers and blouses and skirts/shirts to dresses and tights

I wear black trousers and a nice jumper or dresses with leggings underneath. I'm KS1 so spend a lot of time on the floor, leggings cope better with the cheap carpets than tights do.

My school's dress code is quite specific so might be worth checking yours.

This is a very daft question but I'd be grateful of advice - how do school staff dress on inset days?! I have a new job as a TA and I'm going in for the first time to get acquainted on Monday. Obviously I want to make a good impression but I don't want to dress too nicely if it's seen as more of a dress down day? I'm thinking a shirt dress and ankle boots, can't go wrong with that I don't think.

INSET is definitely dress down day in our primary school. But I understand the desire to be smart on your first day!

I have an inset day next week and I intend on wearing a tracksuit and hoody!! I want to comfortable. But then again I would also wear that on a school day if I wanted too.

I buy a lot of stuff from Yumi, tunic dresses, leggings and boots. I'm secondary.

99% of teachers wear jeans on Inset days. Our TAs don’t come to insets as we can’t afford to pay them .
