Staff school dinners

Can staff at your school order a school dinner? How much do they pay, and what do they get?

MrsKCastle · 21/11/2019 13:00

We can. It's £2.50 and we get the same as the children, but a slightly bigger portion. I do it quite often when I'm not organised enough to sort a packed lunch out.

ValancyRedfern · 21/11/2019 14:02

Ours is £2.50 for a main course. We pay vat on top of the price the kids pay. Don't have to pre-order (secondary)

VaguelySensible · 21/11/2019 16:03

If you're in KS1/2, do you get adult portions?

OP posts:
Invisimamma · 21/11/2019 16:04

£4.10 here for an adult meal.

Rockbird · 21/11/2019 16:33

£2.35 for a meal here. Haven't had one yet, did at my last school though. Usually disappointing...

Bigearringsbigsmile · 21/11/2019 16:34

2.88
Same size as kids
Mingingly awful

Saucery · 21/11/2019 16:36

£2.70. Very popular on Veggie Curry Day. Adult portion, can have salad, bread and choose a dessert if we fancy it.

Soontobe60 · 21/11/2019 16:39

We have accounts the same as the kids. Our cook is fab and will do a lovely jacket spud with filling and salad on request.
We usually get more than the kids portion wise. We don to pay very much, but can't remember exactly what.

maybenextyear · 21/11/2019 18:00

£2.30 for staff in our primary school, we also get the same as the children but a larger portion (hot meal/jacket &salad bar) we pay extra for a pudding.

HPandTheNeverEndingBedtime · 21/11/2019 18:05

We have an account the same as the students which you top up online and pay using the finger print scanner.
Food is quite good with reasonable portions and a meal deal main, snack/ dessert and a drink is £2.30

Nix32 · 21/11/2019 20:10

Ours aren't charged for, but we are expected to sit with our classes. We don't have midday supervisors.

RedElephants · 21/11/2019 20:14

North west Herts here, we pay £3.50 for a adult lunch and a pudding if wanted.

PrincessHoneysuckle · 21/11/2019 20:17

2.50 adult portion

helloisitmeyourelookingfor · 21/11/2019 21:42

£2.70 for a tiny portion

If we sit with the pupils we don't pay

OhMrDarcy · 21/11/2019 21:48

Lunch is free - salad bar with jacket potatoes, soup, choice of three or four hot main courses then always fruit & hot pudding in winter, cold in summer.

I had braised beef & onions today with roasties & three veggies, then a wedge of Brie & an apple.

We are really lucky!

Wallabyone · 21/11/2019 21:57

Ours was a good size and decent enough food. As someone else mentioned, we could request a jacket potato in the morning if we didn't want the available options. Ours was free if you ate with the children in the dining hall.

doasIsaynotasIdo · 21/11/2019 22:10

My school lunch is free but I eat with my class every day. Food is passable (veggie curry is always a highlight).

tumpymummy · 22/11/2019 00:21

We get a free lunch when we do lunch duty. Which is normally most of us!

cabbageking · 22/11/2019 18:27

£2.20 jacket pot and beans or cheese no dessert

£3.50 adult meal with dessert.

fussychica · 22/11/2019 18:52

Teacher DS has school lunch every day, think he pays just less than £3 but free if he does a duty. London secondary. Quality pretty good I think or he wouldn't have it, no idea about portion size.

Lulu1919 · 22/11/2019 19:34

Private prep school
Lunch free...we eat with the children and serve them family style ..no lunch time supervisors but we do have lovely ladies that bring the food over to our tables ( they set tables too etc ) and we all help clear plates etc
Main and pudding
Fruit bowls in staff room and homemade cookies etc for break times...Easter and Christmas we sometimes have mince pies or Easter buns ...

It's lovely !!!

GetTheGoodLookingGuy · 22/11/2019 19:36

Staff can rock up in the hall after all the kids have been served and have leftovers for free. We're cracking down on kids on FSM not telling us they're having a packed lunch, but overcatering still happens. Somehow, especially on fish finger Friday...

Lipperfromchipper · 22/11/2019 19:37

No such thing as school dinners here...packed lunch for all!!

Rosieposy4 · 22/11/2019 21:00

Food is great in school, loads of choice. Free all week if you do one duty, not if you run lunchtime clubs/intervention.
Tellingly behaviour is so crap at lunchtime I won’t do a duty but do spend 3 lunchtimes a week running clubs and intervention.

CouldBeOuting · 23/11/2019 12:55

We have to pre order. We can have the same meal as the children (but slightly larger portion) or a jacket potato. It’s £3.25. The meals are very popular with staff and we can either eat in the staff room or with the children. Most of us eat with the children and the children seem to like us doing that.
