Well, for me, it's the last day off before we return to school! Back tomorrow for an INSET Day.

Planning a nice relaxing day today before the madness starts again!!

I'm quite excited in a way because I was promoted before the summer so I start that role properly tomorrow. I will miss my days at home doing whatever I want though.

Anyone else back tomorrow?

I’m back tomorrow and not looking forward to it!

Going to a quiz night with two of my friends (both teachers) tonight but got a few last minute bits and pieces to sort tonight.

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 01/09/2019 07:13

*today

historygeek · 01/09/2019 08:01

I'm back tomorrow too. Really dreading it as results for my subject were fairly dire so will probably have to have a "chat" with the head. DH re-trained as a teacher this year so is experiencing the back to school feeling for the first time. Good luck everyone!

LolaSmiles · 01/09/2019 08:03

Now that was a reminder I didn't want to see in active threads over my morning coffee Grin Brew

I'm actualy, going against the grain, looking forward to it, but have far far too much to do today to get ready.

PancakeAndKeith · 01/09/2019 08:05

Back tomorrow for an inset day too.
I’ve just remembered all the things I thought I’d get done over the summer which seem to have been swallowed up by sitting in the garden/on the waterfront drinking coffee.

parrotonmyshoulder · 01/09/2019 08:13

I’m going to do two hours of prepping for the week so I don’t have to be stressed tonight and then focus on family stuff.
Like every summer I had so many plans, mostly around tidying the house, but they didn’t really happen! We had holidays away, play dates, I got 4 kid free days (school work though), long dog walks and bike rides. Dentists and other boring appointments fitted in. DA learned to swim. DD read a zillion books. All has to be crammed into weekends now!
INSET tomorrow but mostly a free day rather than much training.

thunderthighsohwoe · 01/09/2019 08:17

Back Wednesday and counting down the days! A summer with an increasingly frustrated 9 month old who refuses to learn to crawl (Let my tummy touch the floor? Hello no!) but is no longer happy to sit and play with toys is NOT relaxing. Have to be out of the house ALL day and on the move CONSTANTLY to keep our eardrums intact.

ILs can enjoy the experience for the next 8 weeks, while I revel in being able to pee in peace 😃

SabineSchmetterling · 01/09/2019 08:23

Also back tomorrow and also going into a new role having just been promoted. I’m actually quite excited to get started now.

noblegiraffe · 01/09/2019 09:05

INSET tomorrow and Tues so not too bad. A lot of my department quit and there’ll be loads of new people so it will be a bit weird as we had a very stable department for years.

Not looking forward to setting the alarm.

IHeartKingThistle · 01/09/2019 09:08

Back tomorrow for 2 INSETs so not too bad. DH has been ill all summer and I've managed no work at all but to be honest I'm looking forward to getting back into the routine and not being home with the ice cream and beer

Ohflippineck · 01/09/2019 09:09

Teachers get a regular bashing on here: those doing the complaining should give it a try themselves. I couldn’t do what you all do. Our youngest is off to Sixth Form College tomorrow and we were bowled over by the welcome and enthusiasm from the staff at registration last week.
So, just wanted to say thanks to you all. Most of us appreciate you!

LolaSmiles · 01/09/2019 09:15

SabineSchmetterling
How exciting for you. I love the new year, new role feeling.

My excited feeling comes from the fact I've got less than a term before going on maternity leave so it's a short school year this year for me.

greentheme23 · 01/09/2019 09:17

DH back tomorrow in PRU. We're off to a music festival. He needs all the relaxation and distraction he can get!

TheBitchOfTheVicar · 01/09/2019 09:42

Inset tomorrow. We always book a few days away in the last few days of the holidays, which helps distract me from any anxiety. So I haven't thought about it much...yet

PumpkinPie2016 · 01/09/2019 10:45

Good luck to all those going back tomorrow!
history hopefully it won't be too bad for you - I'm sure you did all you could!

noble we had a lot of new staff in department last year and it was weird for the first couple of days but then it was like they were always there.

I am chilling, planning to make cottage pie for tea tonight (leftovers tomorrow) and maybe make cakes with DS.

A short school year and a new baby is exciting too. Good luck!
I’m off to Oxford Street today to try to get the last few new school year bits that I couldn’t find on the local high street.
Really need new shoes and definitely don’t need more stationery. That inevitably means I’ll come back with stationery and no shoes. Grin

BloodyhellMartha · 01/09/2019 16:44

Good luck to all those back. We've got Inset Tuesday, so one more lie in...

Not currently desperately keen on going back - have enjoyed the break, but it will be ok once I get back into the swing of things.

noblegiraffe · 01/09/2019 17:03

Not a good day to realise that DS had grown out of his plimsolls. OMG the school shoe section of ASDA looked like a bomb site. Clearly a lot of people just as organised as me!

PumpkinPie2016 · 02/09/2019 05:52

Well, I'm up (it's 5.50am) getting ready!

Didn't sleep particularly well last nightAngry

Hoping a cup of tea wakes me up a bit!

unicorncupcake · 02/09/2019 05:59

I’m awake 👀 alarm goes off in 2 minutes 👀 had a restless night - starting new school today. To be honest I’m not that worried about the teaching, I’m worried i’m Going to get lost 🤦‍♀️ School is massive!

nodtik · 02/09/2019 06:06

Up since 5.30am

Showered and tea drinking here!

Leave the house at 7am

New school year, new start, same job - but hopefully new body! Just hit 11 stone on the scales, the heaviest I've ever been!

So a serious diet for me too - hoping the routine of being back at school will help! Xxx

OhMyDarling · 02/09/2019 06:10

Back to school for me too.
Alarm just woke me up.
I wish it were July again.

SabineSchmetterling · 02/09/2019 06:15

I’m awake. I usually sleep badly before the first day of term but oddly enough I slept like a baby last night.

MsAwesomeDragon · 02/09/2019 06:16

I'm back today for inset, and another inset tomorrow. I'd far rather be teaching straight away tbh.

Didn't sleep well. I didn't get to sleep till almost 1, then woke up at 5! Some idiot was sitting in their car outside my house, with their engine running and their phone ringing loudly enough to wake me up, at 5am!!!Angry I'll be tired and grumpy all bloody day now (as I would have been anyway because I have to go back to work)

skunkatanka · 02/09/2019 06:26

Morning all. Up and at em here too. Off to a new job in a new school and just hoping it's as lovely as it seems! Good luck everyone
