Anyone dreading going back

I know we have another 4 weeks left but I’m already dreading going back.
Not a teacher but pastoral and my workload is just increasing all the time (same as everyone’s role in education )
Been doing a bit of job searching nothing coming up on eteach ☹️ Will keep plodding on

I'm not dreading it as such (although I have had that feeling in previous years and it isn't nice!) but I am feeling a bit nervous as I have gained a promotion which will mean more work.

I'm not looking forward to Y11 results - my class were low ability and had been in a situation where they had had a lot of disruption/supply since Y8 so they weren't motivated and parents unsupportive. I don't think they will have done wellSad

I suppose I'm panicking about work/home balance as it seems to be getting harder to balance as time goes on.

I'm a TA currently 1 to 1 to a child with autism whose anxiety manifests in violent behaviour.
While I am not dreading going back, I actually really love the children and my colleagues I have really appreciated not being hit or having furniture thrown at me.

I'm nervous. I like keeping busy and I'm starting to get bored. But equally I had 2 nervous breakdowns last year, going through a shit separation(possibly a divorce soon) and I'm not sure I'm ready mentally.

Anotherusefulname I'm with you on that one. As much as my 1:1 is lovely most of the time, Its so nice to have a break!

I am also pastoral and have terrible doom feelings about going back. I desperately wish I could afford not to work.

Me too. The ever increasing demands on top of actually getting the teaching done is making me feel sick at the thought of returning. So much so, I'm looking for a way out. Not sure what that could be though...

Basically exactly this. I'm a TA in a school that specialises in autism, so am 1:1 with a range of children. But what @Anotherusefulname says pretty much sums up my general work day.

Also, I work 25 miles from home. I've so enjoyed not making that 50 mile round trip. I think I'll be looking for something closer to home at the end of this academic year.

Back next Wednesday and dreading it. Will have worse ever gcse results next week due to changes in NI spec and a really difficult class. 🤢🤢🤢

Dreading it. I go back on Monday. I’m only there until November but I could cry at the thought of going back. The job isn’t what I was told it would be and I feel like I’m just keeping above water. I’m desperately looking for a temporary position until the end of the year. Then I can go on my maternity leave.

Not as much as I could have been, but I heard just before the holidays that one particularly tricky young person has been moved to another school, and that has lessened my stressing about it considerably as they were really difficut to engage and have a long history of bouncing in and out on temporary exclusions.

Yes. Not the work load as only two days but anxiety is ramping up and I know I need to up my hours come January so will need a new school job but worried my mental health can’t take it. :(

If pastoral support feels this way then how do teachers feel? A broken system. I'm upset for the kids.

I’m a secondary teacher and I want the holidays to keep going a bit longer. I’ve spent time in the holidays updating my CV and have also applied for a couple of non-teaching jobs. I just need to know there’s a way out.... even though deep-down I know my current job fits best with my family right now

So many issues with staffing over the last few years and so the students were unmotivated and their parents were very much blaming the dept.

Not looking forward to tomorrow but at least we will know then!

Currently need to prep some stuff for Sept and majorly procrastinating!

Physically sick with worry.

@PumpkinPie2016 I am dreading it. If my class don't achieve their higher targets I will be put on an action plan as my class last year did appallingly (for many reasons including two with less than 30% attendance!)
Don't even have a timetable for next year due to illness of the person doing them ...
