Anyone dreading going back

I know we have another 4 weeks left but I’m already dreading going back.
Not a teacher but pastoral and my workload is just increasing all the time (same as everyone’s role in education )
Been doing a bit of job searching nothing coming up on eteach ☹️ Will keep plodding on

Trying not to spoil my holiday with worrying but yes I'm dreading it. It's not the workload; it's the dire behaviour.

If it's any consolation, I've been back over a week now and it hasn't been half as bad as I feared - even the behaviour!

It was this feeling in my 2nd to last long term post that made me question whether the job was for me or not.

I left that school (I was on a year's fixed term contract that ended the Easter following that summer holiday. I ended it on sick leave having been signed off for 6 weeks due to stress and anxiety) and went on supply. I had another long term post after that that I really enjoyed but have been on short term supply ever since. I no longer dread the start of new terms.

I know it's not for everyone and the money is unreliable but if you're stressed to the point of dreading work then it might be a way of giving yourself some breathing space to decide what you want to do.

Dreading it too, I always do.

I feel like I really do need to find an alternative job now, but doing what...?! After 20 years and top of pay scale, I can’t find a job easily in another school (as everyone wants to hire cheap NQTs) and my pension is already f*cked after years of part time, so to pay to retrain in anything would not be financially possible.

Any ideas?!

One week to go 😖

fedup21 · 27/08/2019 18:18

I know-I am utterly determined not to be depressed about it and just ignore it.

A week is a long time-when we’re off for a week for half term, that’s aaaages so I’m looking at it from that point of view!
