Posters. Booklet of what you have learnt this year. Create a quiz with questions and answer. Documentary with a head/heart/bin sheet to fill in

goingthroughthemotionz · 17/07/2018 19:36

I like it

One of those sets of problems where they work as a group to find out ‘whodunit’. Not sure why they’re called but Twinkl have them.

In fact, just print off Twinkl and let them choose!

A review of the year (think Twinkl have one of those too 😂)

JustLikeTheySaid · 17/07/2018 19:48

A-Z of the year.
A-Z of me.
A-Z of what I want to improve etc

TK1930 · 17/07/2018 19:49

Design a board game Wink

Synecdoche · 17/07/2018 19:52

Give them a lesson in groups to formulate a round of a quiz, one topic/chapter/theme per group (depending on your subject).

Next lesson let them deliver the quiz. Assign a quizmaster and scorekeeper etc.

Sit back and let them get on with it! Student led learning, hey?

WeightedCompanionCube · 17/07/2018 19:58

Design a board game. Write the rules for the board game, plus design packaging, make dice (3D shape in there), playtest your mates' board games. Colour the whole lot in using those gel pens in your pencil case you're not allowed to colour in with normally as it takes 3 hours to colour in one letter.

I've spun this one out for a good 2-3 days in the past.

LockedOutOfMN · 17/07/2018 20:02

Colouring in?

If they have laptops, Kahoot, (also Sporcle, and Quizlet).

Acrostic poems about a topic they've studied this year.

In pairs or threes, write and then perform a song about a topic you've studied this year. Can use an existing pop song or other tune, just change the lyrics.

LockedOutOfMN · 17/07/2018 20:03

Also love all the previous suggestions.

mineofuselessinformation · 17/07/2018 20:11

We had sports day today, so I feel your pain. Another week to go here!

putonyourdancingshoes · 17/07/2018 20:48

Get them to clean the classroom etc, sharpen pencils.

Piggywaspushed · 17/07/2018 21:41

I teach Film Studies! They can't ban me from films! Grin

Kingkiller · 17/07/2018 21:44

Primary? Ds (year 5) told me their project today was to research a holiday with a £10,000 budget Shock and write a little brochure about it. Fictional locations were allowed Grin.

Moonshine86 · 17/07/2018 22:06

Can anybody suggest a good documentary for yr8/9?

OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow · 17/07/2018 22:18

US too, teaching to the wire. People are leaving some truly shite cover work which leads to boredom, which leads to mayhem.
And if one more person says "well you've only got three days" I may stuff their word search up their sporcle.

Piggywaspushed · 17/07/2018 22:19

moonshine , how about March of the Penguins?

Bi11yOneMate · 17/07/2018 22:22

Get them.to plan their friends holiday in your area - maps, budget, recommendations, illustrations, timetables, bus times etc.

preggersteach · 17/07/2018 22:23

Students come up with ten clues where a keyword from the topic they are learning is the answer for each question. Get them to produce a wordsearch and get another student to solve it using the clues

HaaaHaaaa · 17/07/2018 22:28

Moonshine. “A Small Act” is a wonderful documentary.

www.imdb.com/title/tt1262958/

Moonshine86 · 17/07/2018 22:32

Thanks both! Will have a look at them.

pasbeaucoupdegendarme · 17/07/2018 22:33

We have a week to go still and my class is on its knees. So many squabbles and so much bickering. They need a break from each other and, increasingly, I need a break from them!

Love the board game idea though... might theme that to our topic...

looondonn · 17/07/2018 22:33

I can not believe schools in England still open - feel bad for teachers and pupils
Roll on well deserved break

Toit99 · 17/07/2018 22:37

Get them to make up their own codes and write secret messages to each other. They bloody love that.

Showergel1 · 17/07/2018 22:39

Been doing a seaside topic in place of literacy and discrete topic lessons and we've loved it. Started off with planit style (twinkl) lessons but also asked the children what they wanted to know and covered a question per lesson ie 'how deep is the sea?' Nothing strenuous but children genuinely interested.

This short one on El Sistema: (video is in English).
