...the year 11s drive to school on the last day in their tractors. 😂

How wonderful! I bet that was a picture. I'm in London, so although they didn't arrive by tractor, ours were probably travelling the same speed!

I love last day for year 11s, so emotional and so much excitement. Last Science exam done and then they all changed into their customised school shirts for signing and we waved them all off at about 12. I'm going to miss some of those little buggers! Grin

I'm glad it's over. I think I've been more stressed than the kids unfortunately. Them coming out today and saying they didn't see the question in the last page of the physics exam Shock.

They were a nice bunch though. A few of them Wink

ChrissyHynde · 15/06/2018 18:58

Ahh ! Haven't seen that on last day but on Prim night there's always a good selection of tractors . I think it looks good with a suit x

Janek · 15/06/2018 19:02

Clearly none of your schools teach german then - those exams are both still to come!

IJustHadToNameChange · 15/06/2018 19:07

My dad was a builder.

He got one of his mates to drop me off to a school trip to the opera in a tipper truck......

phlewf · 15/06/2018 19:09

My dad taught in a very rural school in American many moons ago. From 14 they could drive a tractor to and from school. He never tired of laughing in the carpark looking more like an agricultural show.

OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow · 15/06/2018 19:10

Nope, physics last one. At my daughters prom some of the lads turned up stood in the scoop, all dressed up with fake martinis in their hands.
Then there was the time the school hamster got loose and some boys brought in their ferrets to find it. Weirdly we said no thanks.

When you have to remove the same nosy cow from the field before you can do PE on a regular basis. The others all stay in the field and ignored us, only one fancied being on roll.
When it snows, and a dad turns up with a tractor, trailer fitted out and permission to trek children to their various homes on the moors.
When you are marking books and you watch wildlife out of the window as you do it; badgers, various birds and squirrels clearing up child debris.
When you always have a torch in your bag!

RoseanneBarred · 15/06/2018 19:47

We've still got graphics, German and further maths to go, don't you?!

Ploppymoodypants · 15/06/2018 19:57

When parents do the school run on horses leading the children’s ponies (primary school).
When there is array of dogs tied to the School fence (not allowed on premesis) and they are all labradors, terriers or springers. Not a pug or a frenchie in sight!
Loose dog in the playground!!! Always a farm collie.
The kids all know the difference between the tractor makes and a John Deere is cause for excitement

BlueAnchor · 15/06/2018 19:59

It is closed down due to budget cuts and increasing expectations on a very small staff to meet the ever increasing Ofsted requirements.

Sorry!

Shockers · 15/06/2018 20:02

Lots of the kids in our town drive tractors. The local high school car park is full of them!

HarrietSchulenberg · 15/06/2018 20:11

There was a little tractor parked in the layby the students all park in this morning. I did wonder if it was a Y11.

HarrietSchulenberg · 15/06/2018 20:12

Also, when half the kids are knackered as they've got themselves early morning farm jobs in Y10. They don't last long with the 4am starts.

BingTheButterflySlayer · 15/06/2018 20:15

I had to ban cattle prods from shepherd outfits for the nativity one year.

Scrowy · 15/06/2018 20:19

I can say this because I am a farmer and I went to a rural school...

The types that turn up on the last day in tractors are generally unlikely to be taking German, graphics or higher maths.

The school are probably just glad they even turned up for Maths and English Grin

Scrowy · 15/06/2018 20:21

The kids all know the difference between the tractor makes

And what colour/make your tractor is, is more important than which football team you support

I was on a trip to Belgium once, sat behind travel sick boy who fancied travel sick girl. His attempt to woo her was telling her all the breeds of cows and types of tractor we passed. She wasn't a farmer and her face was 😒
We don't do graphics, German or further maths. (Foundation or higher)

There are a few exams still left, but today was the last whole year group exam and the last time they were all in school together. Smile

Sadik · 15/06/2018 21:13

Parent not teacher, but:
When the year 11 boys all have instagram accounts with their tractors posed in various tastefully chosen locations around the farm in the sunset. (The modern day version of 'I've got a brand new combine harvester?)

When the primary school children have to dress as nursery rhyme characters for World Book Day, and all the year 6 boys come with cow facepaint and correctly applied double ear-tags (I think that was a parent fed up of one too many fancy dress days Grin )

PestymcPestFace · 15/06/2018 21:19

Sadik are you sure it is legal to double tag a childs' ear?

When the kids say they won't get nits because they have been frontlined.

Sadik · 15/06/2018 21:21

Grin Pesty

Mybabystolemysanity · 15/06/2018 21:25

This is so funny! We're moving and kids will be going to a rural primary. I was looking forward to it already, but even more so after reading this!

LegArmpits · 15/06/2018 21:32

When I was a little kid in the early 80s, our teacher got married and we all turned up at her wedding wearing wellies! ❤️
