Thank you, Mumsnet! Shall I start the introductions.
Hello all, I'm a Secondary English NQT.

It does get better after the NQT year but you'll always be jumping through hoops. Hmm, not sure my blood pressure could cope with Gove on here.

I woud love a biscuit (or 2) but could you hold the smirnoff for a couple of months?

Jo178 · 21/09/2012 07:23

Another one for primary here, preparing to go back mid October after a years mat leave. Sad

Jo178 · 21/09/2012 07:25

Oh and I'll also drink out of any mug!

rockinastocking · 21/09/2012 07:26

Can I join? Returning teacher, secondary English Smile

MrsHende · 21/09/2012 07:34

Primary teacher in Scotland here, and on holiday already! It's our long weekend here in Glasgow.

Bliss!

tethersend · 21/09/2012 07:39

Secondary art teacher here- taught in PRUs/ESBD schools until two years ago when I became an advisory teacher for Looked After Children.

Do I still count? Grin

BrigitBigKnickers · 21/09/2012 10:17

Primary special needs here! -Work with deaf kids! Love it! Teaching for 25 years

Cups are a very serious business at our school (shudders while remembering cup cupboard bloodbath sort out last year- now refered to as "cup-gate"! Grin)

Viviennemary · 21/09/2012 10:21

It's a wonder nobody has caught bubonic plague from some of those mugs in staffrooms. The china variety I mean. Grin

Hullygully · 21/09/2012 10:22

I'm not a teacher but I like them so I'm just going to barge in and earwig

Themumsnot · 21/09/2012 12:23

You are welcome, Hully. And may I just say I am a great admirer of your work.

OP posts:
Hullygully · 21/09/2012 12:26

Oh thank you. I thought everyone had gone to hide in the stationery cupboard. I spose you were teaching and that.

FelicitywasSarca · 21/09/2012 12:32

I'm hiding somewhere more boring than the stationary cupboard ... A cover lesson with 7 non-English speaking students. They are exceptionally well behaved and I am getting on with schoolwork on my laptop

roughtyping · 21/09/2012 12:38

I'm off for the September weekend :)

Hullygully · 21/09/2012 12:40

I'm telling on you felicity

tethersend · 21/09/2012 12:57

I'm on mat leave, so free to piss around on the internet all day and drink coffee from all the mugs in the house.

Hullygully · 21/09/2012 12:59

you can't still be off work tethers, isn't that baby grown yet?

tethersend · 21/09/2012 13:07

She'll be taking her driving test next week, but I think it's best I stay at home a little longer.

(recent photo on profile BTW)

Ex- Further Education computing and maths. Now working in HE in virtual learning environments

FelicitywasSarca · 21/09/2012 13:29

Shhh Hully, don't be mean!

Hullygully · 21/09/2012 15:22

Oh she is so sweet!

chocolateshoes · 21/09/2012 16:51

we had a training day today ! Hooray! Free lunch and made a clown. And now its the weekend so.... Wine Wine

tethersend · 21/09/2012 17:01

Oh Hully. There are so many to come... She's had one already, some horrible woman called her 'fucking fat' on the train the other day Sad

Luckily, my teaching experience meant that I could turn the air blue with a creative flair.

Born2bemild · 21/09/2012 17:05

Not too bad a week overall, probably because I've not had time to watch all the Govester's plans on the news.

Hullygully · 21/09/2012 17:05

No. Eh? How on earth did that happen??

LadyLetch · 21/09/2012 19:19

Talking of cupgate, in one of my previous schools it was spoongate. So many of the teaspoons went missing in the staffroom that the DT teacher drilled a hole through the bowl of every teaspoon. Trying to get the coffee into your mug and not all over the work surface was a bloody nightmare!

Teachers can be bloody odd sometimes :)
