Thank you, Mumsnet! Shall I start the introductions.
Hello all, I'm a Secondary English NQT.

OP posts:
Roseformeplease · 20/09/2012 20:39

Secondary English in Scotland here. And I NEVER wash my mug so go near it at your peril. My seat is the one with a clear view of the door so I can see who is coming when I am having a rant. (22 years......holy shit).

MissAnnersley · 20/09/2012 20:39

Great idea.

I'm a primary teacher in Scotland.

Goldidi · 20/09/2012 20:40

Have you just started TwllBach? The NQT year is the worst for feeling clueless (worse than PGCE because now you are not only clueless but are also in charge). I don't feel clueless any more because I am really old now and have been doing this for years have a couple of years experience, but I have done a lot of doling out punishment as I get to know my new classes this term.

Knowsabitabouteducation · 20/09/2012 20:40

Senior science (physics).

MissAnnersley · 20/09/2012 20:42

My mug is disgusting. I would never use a dirty mug at home, or shake the coffee into the mug because I'm too lazy busy to use a spoon.

Knowsabitabouteducation · 20/09/2012 20:42

And 17 years (which I can't quite believe).

Knowsabitabouteducation · 20/09/2012 20:44

We have cups and saucers which are produced by the catering team.

smugmumofboys · 20/09/2012 20:50

Evening all. Secondary MFL. Should be marking some A level stuff to give back tomorrow but feel deathly. First bug of the school year.

Knowsabitabouteducation · 20/09/2012 20:55

I am the school timetabler and very relieved that our first cycle of lessons has worked out (2 week timetable).

I have a bunch of alterations to rooming to do but am so tired. I will leave it to the weekend.

TwllBach · 20/09/2012 20:59

I am indeed an NQT Smile clueless but in charge... I like it. It sounds like something I should have tattooed on me - it dawned on me today that they are actually going to let me loose with my class on a coach and inte swimming baths on my own Grin without a 'grown up!'

And I keep asking stupid questions and saying stupid things like "oh it's the sun that's so hot" to people who are supposed to be my colleague who must think I am an absolute tool. BUT most of the time im having lots of fun!

handbagCrab · 20/09/2012 20:59

Secondary ICT. 8 years for my sins. I'm now part time after baby and I listen to everyone carp about my long weekends. Pft. They'll be even longer once gove decides kids don't need to know anything about technoloy anymore which has nothing to do with the fact that exercise books and whiteboards are cheaper than computers iPads and smartboards

handbagCrab · 20/09/2012 21:00

Oh and I'll drink out of anything that doesn't contain green fuzz :)

Goldidi · 20/09/2012 21:02

I still don't think I should be allowed out without a 'grown-up'.

MissAnnersley · 20/09/2012 21:03

This thread is making me feel a bit old. 23 years for me.

Primary here, this is year 21 Blush. Now in Y3 after quite a lot of years at the top end of KS2 and feeling rather shell shocked. Looking forward to our trip tomorrow with every fibre of my being.

I drink fruit tea. It tastes OK hot or cold or two days later when I finally get round to drinking it. I usually nick one of the governor's posh mugs as they're the only ones guaranteed to be clean.

ipotty · 20/09/2012 21:13

New Primary Head and very scared!

OhVeryFunnyHaHa · 20/09/2012 21:15

Primary - 12 yrs on and off (children in between)

Currently at school which is expecting Ofsted this year. Living in fear.

OhVeryFunnyHaHa · 20/09/2012 21:16

Oh and own mug.

LadyLetch · 20/09/2012 21:18

I'm a 6th form teacher / lecturer and my subjects are philosophy & religious studies.

I've been teaching for 14 years now, was in secondary but moved over to FE 7 years ago now.

We have communal mugs but I got my children to paint me a mug, so it no-one dares nick it Grin. I wouldn't mind sharing, except no one cleans the mugs properly.

Also wondering whether I'll be employed in 5 years. Time will tell.

ninah · 20/09/2012 21:30

waves
primary NQT (nursery and R unit)
twyll you're right - clueless but in charge!
i'll drink out of any old mug (promiscuous)

roughtyping · 20/09/2012 21:52

I'm in p1 this year, this is my third year of teaching - and honestly this is the first year I feel like I've sort of 'got it'... Is that bad?!

whitewineinthesun · 20/09/2012 21:56

offender learning lecturer here!

princesssugar · 21/09/2012 03:41

Secondary DT here, 6th year. Should be starting maternity leave tomorrow but ds2 arrived 3 weeks early so unfortunately i had to miss all the start of term crap. I would love to see Gove on here for a webchat. I think the tone maybe different to the hairy bikers one though......

princesssugar · 21/09/2012 03:42

I leftmy mug at work so God ony know where it will be when i get back. Opportunity for shiny new mug maybe.
