The Sun this morning is running an article detailing the inventory of everything that was recovered by Thomas Markle Jr from his dad's belongings. It's very clear The Sun journo went through the boxes and I think the newspaper also sent the videos to independent IT specialists before TMJ handed the stuff into the police. How can they possibly stage a fair investigation now when the evidence has clearly been tampered with?

That’s ghastly.

Has Meghan confirmed that in 2025 she accused her dad, via letter, of being a paedophile?

AtIusvue · Yesterday 08:07

I have a theory, zero evidence but it’s sort of backed by what’s written in the DM article :

‘Quite how seriously the Duchess of Sussex took the 2019 letter from Ms Loveless is, at this stage, unclear. In February 2019, shortly after it arrived, Meghan authorised five friends to brief her favourite outlet, People magazine, about her estrangement from Thomas Sr. The resulting article suggested the Duchess wished to repair the relationship.
Later, in a 2022 Netflix documentary, Meghan declared that she had been 'a daddy's girl my whole life'. She only appears to have categorically cut him off in late 2025, when Thomas Sr was gravely ill in hospital in the Philippines.’

I think that when presented with this letter, asked about the possible veracity by the Met, Meg may have suggested that because this is the ex wive who is a drug user etc, that its just malicious ramblings.

Which the Met has then decided, there’s little credibility and therefore didn’t meet the standards to refer to Interpol.

This could be why Meg continues her alternative narrative about why she cut her dad out for up to 4 years after she seen this letter. The People article where she remains open to the idea of reconciliation, NF docu where Harry says it’s his fault, the Oprah interview where she states she lost her father because of the media circus.

If she cuts him off clearly in 2025, then something else could have happened between the years of 2022 and 2025 to make her believe that what was said in the letter is true and to stop with the alternative story she had been banding about.

That's a very good question. It surely jeopordises the case?

Seems to me that Sun is actively interfering with what could be a criminal investigation just to get the headlines.

If she'd have said that she'd cut ties with DF because of CSA she'd probably have got a lot of sympathy. As it was there wer all these stories put out about why they were estranged and now no-one knows what to believe when it comes out of her mouth or those of her sources.

Yep, I think this is absolutely the case. The Sun ultimately doesn't care if TMS is prosecuted – they know it's highly unlikely because of this age, health, and the fact he's not living in the Philippines any more – so they're just going to milk it for all they can.

The fact that Meghan is fuelling this and collaborating is such an own goal by her comms team.

I don’t believe I need ask.

The language used suggests that she may well be dealing with another rather shell shocked father rather closer to home who is wondering why he wasn’t as aware of the gravity of claims that could be levelled at the father-in-law he never met. And why he was encouraged to trash his own family publically for relatively minor wrong doings when compared to CSA. Because the least you’d expect from a spouse with (factual or fictional) allegations of CSA in the family is to have some perspective about lip gloss & lime light sharing.

This is the feeling I get

pipinghot · Yesterday 08:14

The Sun. I didn't realise it was still in circulation, a product of a bygone age where there was such a thing as Page 3 girls with their breasts on show for their pervy readers to dribble over. And this was seen as normal. The Sun people must have been salivating on themselves when - somehow- they got the lead on - and significant involvement with - this story.

The Royal Family, including all the hangers on and adjacent to the RF like the Markles, have enough material for a whole series of Jeremy Kyle.

Surely the end of the RF is now in sight?

Whilst the Markle mess is nothing to do with the core RF, it is just another layer of tawdriness that has been revealed since the 80s. I was brought up to have a healthy respect for the royals, but that has long gone.

I am not a fan of Meghan, and can’t stand her whining spouse, but I feel very sorry for her now. None of her father’s actions are anything to do with her but because she is intensely disliked, people are giving her a kicking because, well she is fair game isn’t she?

If she has any sense she would just live outside of the public eye and live a low key life. All the fame and money are not worth it.

The future of the RF is looking pretty good just now because of the obvious wholesomeness of the Waleses and the pruning of bad apples and other hangers on. While KC might not have the energy or stomach for more radical changes I’m guessing William will do so - I think he, as much as any critic of the RF, wants to do things differently.

Also KC has played blinders in some of his recent diplomatic visits and encounters.

A lot depends on how they handle situations such as the current Sussex Scandal - but luckily for them, they made it clear before all this blew up that they were distancing the RF from the troublesome pair.

HaM will try to dump blame on them, very likely, so we’ll have to see how that plays out.

But can you imagine (supposing the RF knew the full picture about the TM allegations before the wedding), if they’d made it public or acted on it in any way…the cries of racism which would have resulted? They honestly can’t do right for doing wrong!

How would they know that unless The Sun paid for the IT guy? TMJ hasn't got a penny to rub together (well, until he got his 80k for this story) so the money must've come from them.

It's so grubby and the fact M is working with the paper makes it so much worse for her. The problem is, she can't step away now. The Sun wants her tell-all exclusive and if she refuses now, it will retaliate.

And it isn't a British case, so they can print what they like.
Does anyone have a photo of the DM newspaper front page? I feel like they are rather gleeful with the online one, a final vindication against HaM, maybe? That's what it feels like. A kind of, "gotcha" to Harry.

Agreed. As it turns out ham are turning out to be pretty good news for our actual royal family - compare and contrast and all that. William and Charles, Catherine, Edward Sophie Anne (Anne who has always looked good) look veritably angelic at this point in time.

AtIusvue · Yesterday 08:21

Thank you to @Cismyfatarse for posting the Times token, I’m putting some of the questions in the article here, because I think it’s good to have a pause and look back at everything. Good to see them starting to question in the press too!

Why was Meghan so sure that the allegations contained in the letter were true?
While there was no pictorial evidence attached to the letter, which was sent to the police and then passed to the office of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, it is understood that the evidence within the letter was very compelling and came from someone who knew Thomas Markle Sr and the family well. It has since been reported that it was sent by his first wife, Roslyn Loveless, who died in 2024.
What is the date discrepancy?
Meghan said last week that she received the letter in 2018 after being passed it by the Metropolitan police.
In a later statement, however, the police said that they received it in January 2019.
It is acknowledged that Meghan may have possibly misremembered the precise date, whereas the police would have recorded it with a timestamp.
That said, it may have taken the police several months before they were able to confirm the correspondence in their archives.
What did the palace know?
The Metropolitan Police shared the information with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex in early 2019 but not, it seems, with the wider royal household.
Buckingham Palace has declined to comment on the matter.
Why did the Met not pass on the allegations to other forces?
Scotland Yard said that the letter contained a number of claims about alleged offending outside the United Kingdom. A Met investigation was not launched. The force admitted it had not passed the letter on to authorities overseas.
The Met is now reviewing its handling of the matter and considering whether a referral to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) is necessary.
If the force makes a referral, the watchdog may review its approach to the letter.
Why did Meghan still call herself a ‘daddy’s girl’?
Meghan wrote to her father last December when he had his leg amputated in the Philippines. The contents of the letter are unknown, but it is now understood that she was responding to his repeated complaints in the press that she did not care for her ill father. It is believed that she wrote to tell him that she did not want to speak to him as a result of the serious allegations against him. It was the last time she would be in touch with him.
It is not known why she continued to paint a positive image of him in her own television appearances and a 2022 Netflix documentary in which she said: “I was a daddy’s girl all my life.”
Why did Markle Sr nail plywood to the windows of his homes?
In an intriguing section of Prince Harry’s autobiography Spare, which was published four years after Meghan learnt of the damaging allegations against her father, the duke described Markle as “a complicated man”.
Harry made no reference to the allegations in his book but wrote about media coverage in the run-up to their 2018 wedding, saying: “The press reported that, as a result [of the press interest], Meg’s father had nailed plywood over his windows. But this wasn’t true. He’d often had plywood nailed over his windows, even when living in Los Angeles, well before Meg started dating me. Complicated man.”
What could happen next for Markle Sr?
Investigators are analysing data to determine the full scope and extent of the alleged offending. The Philippines interior minister, Jonvic Remulla, said that “all signs point to a possible sex offender of the grossest kind”.
The authorities said that the forensic data would be analysed in a week.
This will have to be completed before police decide whether to charge Markle Sr, who is thought to be in Florida recovering from a leg amputation.
The US Federal Bureau of Investigations said that it was aware of the allegations, adding that it would provide support where appropriate to the authorities in the Philippines. The FBI also said that it would investigate “any related allegations of federal violations of US law”.
The US has an extradition treaty with the Philippines, which means that in principle Markle could be sent there to face any trial should the authorities charge him

The press need to start asking about what Harry knew, why he’s not saying anything etc.
