Harry & Meghan

I'ts wonderful to see Harry & Meghan happy & smiling & back in the UK supporting their charities.

Regardless whether people agree or disagree with their return, like all families we may not always agree,we may even fall out for long periods of time. The important thing is finding it in our hearts to forgive while leaving bitterness in the past. Above all we must consider the unforgiving legacy we may leave behind & the children who can never be happy & fulfilled being brought up within a fueding family.

Ah, I think you have good points. They were very popular and had a lot of support, they also had amazing opportunities, events, travel etc - they're bound to miss it. In California I don't think royal titles mean much; we know they mean a lot to the Sussexes.
It hadn't occurred to me that they were planning for when William is King.

I believe William is keeping a tight lip so he is an unknown to them, and it makes them worry, given how easily AMW was stripped of titles when we were all told it couldn’t be without an act of parliament and would take a long time, but it did happen overnight when the public objected enough -

I wholeheartedly believe their plan is to get the public onside before they run out of time (as well as Harry wanting to see his dad) - William is likely to be King in the not too distant future and it will be difficult to remove them if they are popular again

that said I think M will be booed when is seen properly in public and not a staged arrangement

I agree with you - the Americans like success and not winge-ers - they didn’t get the treatment they want there

Harry and kids need to be removed from line of succession as well as AMW - they really need to do that

i think Harry was very homesick for England - plus he was a small fish in a very big pond of powerful people - being even more irrelevant

MissFenellaPrism · 16/10/2026 21:18

Yes, @Tinydanceer - on that recent podcast Harry described himself as a Prince of England (sic), he really can't leave that, the titles mean so much to both of them. It's strange really, what a mess.

I'll leave to feel flummoxed then. It's pretty clear to me what's going on.

I am glad it’s clear to someone.

No one says Hi to me.

No one asks if I’m OK.

He said it on the MasterClass thing, too. Something like “You didn’t expect to see a Prince here, talking about chakras.”

Yes…how can it not clearly be part of his identity…he’s right that he’s a Prince of England, that’s what he would have been told his whole life - and esp when the RF didn’t have to eat humble pie and bow down to the public more but acted like the privileged aristocrats they are

I really can’t imagine that William and Kate tell their kids all the time how they are more important than everyone else and are princes and princesses

Meghan and Harry on the other hand - I can’t imagine M being humble but instead whole heartedly egging on her children what special little prince and princesses they are…maybe not but I bet the former

i also think they want to do the whole Eton thing with Archie - I think they really want the royal life and status - they want to be like and matter as much as the Wales’

plus they can stand out as more “humanitarian” here - smaller pond

Well there is no such thing as "Prince of England"! I'm astonished he doesn't know that!
Hasn't he heard of the Union of the Crowns!
So true about the difference in approaches, the status means so much to H&M, it's actually problematic.

Omg a Prince - like in reality you are different to a normal human

TheOvertGardener · 16/10/2026 21:42

Perhaps rather than take away his title they should flood the market with Princes and Dukes and Duchesses.

Gosh yes, that one slipped by me….even if he was joking, it’s not a good thing to be joking about.

maybe he hasn’t been fully educated about their history after all..

He wasn't joking, he said it in all seriousness. This is a man who went to Balmoral every summer and whose father was Prince of Wales.
He's very limited.

I know. I genuinely wonder if he knows what's going on. He's seems completely unaware and has no self reflection. It's quite extraordinary.

@Topseyt123

I really like your post and agree with so much of it. I think the Oprah interview was a huge mistake. It was pathetic and not thought out. Spare not so much, Harry has had hundreds of books written about him, why not write his own and despite what some people say he was very loving about his father. Some of it was a bit 'ouch' but it wasn't that bad.

I agree on the Sandringham Summit, didn't someone forge his signature or something? Or present him with a fait accompli or whatever. I just don't think they tried to accommodate the couple, I honestly believe that they thought if they cut off everything that he would give up Meghan and stay in the fold. Eight years later...

I also have no problem with the half in half out. Other Royals do it! Zara/Mike, York daughters (yes they do turn up to royal garden parties and all that, but that's probably now come to an end), they are all trading off their royal status in some ways, some more blatant than others.

Lots of private citizens/famous people support chosen charities! Why can't they? Good for them. It's given the rest of the Royals something to ponder on and K&W have done more engagements these last couple of weeks than I have ever known.

True, lots of private citizens/ famous people support chosen charities.... not many arrange a public walkabout on their way in and brief the press about it....that's the weird bit.

Tinydanceer · 16/10/2026 23:40

@simpsonthecat

Zara and Mike are not half in half out - they are completely non working royals and have no titles and they never do what we saw in Nottingham

of course they turn up to family events - that’s all they are doing - also other events like royal ascot where there are loads of toffs, nothing to do with being “in”

that spectacle in Nottingham was all pre planned and part of a publicity stunt to try and persuade the public not to boo Meghan when she finally shows her face. Well orchestrated and planned

Very weird and also organise about 50 people who are picked to love you

it’s all a publicity stunt to try and persuade the public not to boo Megan when she finally shows her face - and also in the long run to build public sympathy in case William is planning to downgrade them when he gets the chance

I know

i dislike what they have put the monarchy through - the fact that they spoke to the world knowing the people they were discussing could never respond

I really don’t like that she didn’t get her royal role and tried to be way above herself (acting as if she was the catch rather than the other way round) and not go with protocols - mocking the queen etc

they have to be stripped of titles etc surely after the book Netflix Oprah etc - it just doesn’t work

Oh gosh…In answer to your question I think it all went wrong when Megan thought she was the catch to the royal family and she could gift them by teaching them how to do things - she didn’t really get it…

H and M are ridiculous in their brazen attempt to wipe out the last few years.

Having said that, it's so brazen I almost admire it. Fake it til you make it. Imagine having that level of self-belief.

I think they are quite funny and not as pompous and odd-seeming as Will and Kate who are the oldest forty-somethings in the world.

I think Charles days are numbered and they can’t say out loud that’s a big reason they’ve come back

not just to see him - to establish some public sympathy so William can’t oust them

45 is Middle Aged you know!

The timing of yesterday’s event made me think that they are still trying to get one over on the Royal Family. The King was opening Welsh parliament and it just so happened that their event coincided with his. I don’t believe for one minute it wasn’t planned.

I think the press are very much invested in setting up a Royals v M&H rivalry because it increases clicks and sells content.

All of the very gruesome royal correspondents are rubbing their hands with glee fawning over the saintly royal family while castigating the evil Sussexes.

I had to laugh out loud when I saw Rebecca English had even compared the colour of Meghan’s outfit unfavourably to Camilla’s.

“With Camilla on his arm, unmissable in vermillion (take that, Meghan, in your low-key burgundy stealth wealth!)”

I mean, how more ridiculous can you get?

We know that royal rota journalists have to tow the line with the institution or they lose access but you’d think being a professional journalist meant that you at least pretended to be slightly objective?

Ah yes… the poor, wee defenceless monarchy who can never respond!

Sorry, but are people really still this gullible?

BP always respond. They just do it in an underhand manner through private briefings, leaks, paying PR firms to boost their own credibility or diminish someone else’s, NDAs, cease and desist legal letters, by getting broadcasting friends or tame journalists or brown-nosing historians to write articles or speak on tv on their behalf, by giving the nod to books they approve of, and trying to suppress those they don’t, by allowing friends of, or sources close to, the palace, to whisper in influential ears, and by paying off civil law suits with large sums of money that the man in the street couldn’t afford.

So they are not allowed to visit the charities they have a long connection with... it's just nonsense?
Really?

How does that work with famous people who are private citizens and also have strong connections with charities, should they not visit their charities also because it's nonsense?

Good for them. I hope they keep doing it. It has certainly made William & Kate pull their finger out these last few weeks.
