I'ts wonderful to see Harry & Meghan happy & smiling & back in the UK supporting their charities.

Regardless whether people agree or disagree with their return, like all families we may not always agree,we may even fall out for long periods of time. The important thing is finding it in our hearts to forgive while leaving bitterness in the past. Above all we must consider the unforgiving legacy we may leave behind & the children who can never be happy & fulfilled being brought up within a fueding family.

I don't understand the hate towards the couple

im surprised anyone doesn’t understand it, people are disgusted by rheir behaviour, selling trash talk and gossip on his family for money.

As did his beautiful & beloved mother yet she was & still should be revered.

@Wildgoat hate is what is directed towards them. We don't know them or the whole story I'm sure. It's such a strong emotion.
I think every member of the RF who has given an interview was badly advised. Journalists are not their friends. The more muck they can scape the better.
Have you never made a mistake?

What are they needing ‘forgiveness’ for? They’ve done nothing wrong.

I think it’s nice people turned out to see them. They are very warm and friendly with the crowds. And I am not a monarchist by any stretch.

3peassuit · 15/10/2026 18:31

They are entitled to live here. He’s British and Meghan is his wife. I think it’s a bit daft that they advertise where they will be and then bang on about needing taxpayer funded security. If they want to live here, I’m sure they could fly under the radar like other celebs who live in the UK.

Oh here we go… 🙄
obsessive
haters

How about…
mildly irritated
duped British taxpayers

The posts I've read are not just mildy irritated. They spend all their day on a thread slagging off HAM as they refer to them and waving and saying hi to each other on the thread.
It's out and out bullying and yes it's obsessive.
They need to get out more.
Talking about complete strangers for hours on the Internet is not healthy.

SillyBoyChuckie · 15/10/2026 19:47

Notice how much fewer posts there are now that the Russian bots are off line because no one else cares that much about what they are up to.

It appears there are members of the family who feel there is something that happened that has upset them so much they can't forgive. This is the problem.

I have a son that is so like Harry in every way perceivable, including looks, mannerisms etc etc, hence why I started the thread. Meghan understands him & its lovely to see. I only wish his family offered him the same.

Mumsnet, I dont know the procedure but can we close this thread now
Thank you.

No-one should be "revered". Diana was a human, with positive and negative traits like we all have. I find it peculiar that people think she's a Saint.

You have to get in contact with MNHQ and explain why you want the thread withdrawn.
What reason will you give?

Depressing to see how many people have swallowed the Daily Mail line!

Meghan and Harry are not the enemy here. An institution that covers up alleged criminality by one of its own is far more worrying.

And I for one am really glad that H&M are highlighting the fantastic work of Himmah which is a brilliant grass roots charity in a city that has had a lot of ups and downs in recent times but has a great community spirit.

I don't read the Daily Mail. Don't H&M give them stories? Isn't Bryony Gordon one of their favoured columnists?.

Screaming Lord Such calls himself a Lord. Anyone could call themselves His/Her Royal Highness. Isn't that how kings started being kings, by calling themselves, and getting other people to call them "King", in the times when there was good old-fashioned threat of violence if people didn't. Fortunately these days no one has to take them seriously

they could, but the king wouldn’t give a shit, the difference for Harry and Megan is he would, they agreed to stop using and any reneging on that could see them stripped of their titles like Andrew by an act of parliament,

now of course they could just continue, but they’d look even bigger twats than they currently do, and the public backlash and mocking would be off the scale. So it’s not like screaming lord sucb,

I'm in favour of the public mocking royalty, official royalty or non-official royalty. What's wrong with that?

Andrew differs from Harry and Megan because Andrew has been accused of committing crimes (or at least immoral acts), and the public did not believe he was innocent. The rest of Royal family wanted to distance themselves from Andrew because he tarnished royalty in the court of public opinion. I'm not a legal expert, so please correct me if I am wrong. My understanding is that the King did not have a legal power to prevent Andrew using his titles. For the law to be change an act of parliament was passed where there were sufficient MPs (who did not believe Andrew's claims of innocence, or were who were swayed by public opinion) to vote through the act.

Now if the King officially stripped H&M of using the HRH titles but H&M continued to use the titles I believe that technically under the law H&M would be committing no crime (providing they were not doing to to commit fraud or deception). That would require another act of parliament, and it isn't so clear that a majority of MPs would vote for it.

In modern times royalty depends on positive public opinion for its survival. Charles and Camilla, and William and Kate, and Harry and Megan are much the same in courting public opinion.

I certainly dont hate them. I have never met them. But - all the media coverage, the Spare book, the Oprah interview.

I suspect that they will flounce off evenutally claiming everyone has been horrible. Dont let the door hit your bottom on the way out!

NO ONE CARES! STOP BRIEFING OUT WHAT YOU ARE UP TO AND DEMANDING GOVERNMENT FUNDING SECURITY.

🤣🤣🤣🤣

No she didn’t, she said they could not monetise being royal.

Someone needs to tell other Royals that. Peter Phillips, Zara/Mike, York daughters. And the wonderful Sarah Ferguson who capitalised on her Duchess title for 30 years.

but according to the PR posters thats ok because they don't have titles...so can use the RF as much as they like.

They were always going to monetise being royal. What else have they got? That's the only thing. I suppose it was to stop any use of the titles which could be misinterpreted as them representing the Head of State, and the UK.

It appears most countries have people of some description representing their country & bringing traditional practices do they not? 🤔

Hmm. There's certainly a traditional practice of monetising being royal. They built up their wealth through taxing the serfs in feudal times. I can see how depending on taxes from working people would be a hard habit to break. 😀

GaaNeen · 16/10/2026 10:25

HaM make me squirm with embarrassment -
to flounce off and complain so much about the UK, clearly giving the impression they are too good for UK and trashing the royal institution-
yet continuing to push their duke / duchess ‘status’
tried to make themselves A list celebrities in USA -
failed
and now back trying to worm way back in to everything they slagged off, and wanting taxpayers to accommodate their events …
it’s so shallow, and cringe worthy
I guess the goal is get on the palace balcony at a big event … embarrassing

Cattery · 16/10/2026 10:27

Pure cringe.

Daily Mail article by Jan Moir today is worth a read. Laugh out loud
