Harry & Meghan

I'ts wonderful to see Harry & Meghan happy & smiling & back in the UK supporting their charities.

Regardless whether people agree or disagree with their return, like all families we may not always agree,we may even fall out for long periods of time. The important thing is finding it in our hearts to forgive while leaving bitterness in the past. Above all we must consider the unforgiving legacy we may leave behind & the children who can never be happy & fulfilled being brought up within a fueding family.

HaM make me squirm with embarrassment -
to flounce off and complain so much about the UK, clearly giving the impression they are too good for UK and trashing the royal institution-
yet continuing to push their duke / duchess ‘status’
tried to make themselves A list celebrities in USA -
failed
and now back trying to worm way back in to everything they slagged off, and wanting taxpayers to accommodate their events …
it’s so shallow, and cringe worthy
I guess the goal is get on the palace balcony at a big event … embarrassing

When did they actually complain about the UK? Can you tell me specifically please?

I understand they complained about some members of the RF, about unconscious racism in the RF, and about the racism in the tabloid press and some of the paps, but I don’t think they ever said anything derogatory about the British people or the UK itself did they?

If so, please enlighten me.

moonraker0 · 16/10/2026 10:57

The timing of yesterday’s event made me think that they are still trying to get one over on the Royal Family. The King was opening Welsh parliament and it just so happened that their event coincided with his. I don’t believe for one minute it wasn’t planned.

I don't know Harry and Meghan, have never met them, so I can't comment on their motivations, or who they are as people. But from what I've seen from a distance, I think they seem kind-hearted.

I really can't understand why so many people are so keen to pick sides in a supposed "fued" which doesn't involve them personally, nor do they really know anything about the people it does involve.

I agree. The Royals are a peculiar dysfunctional family as it is. Hardly surprising there'd be some fallouts.
I bet there's far more rifts than we even know about, it's just that H&M's is more public because they left and don't have the sycophantic royal media on their side

No, there's no "feud", no sides. Why would the RF stoop to that level?
Your comment about not knowing them is used very frequently on here. Some people very clearly show us who they are, by sharing details of their lives and thoughts. H&M have chosen to tell us a great deal, in various interviews, Netflix series, the book etc.
Some of the details, we really didn't need to know. Some things are best kept private.

It's because Harry and Meghan have chosen to share a lot of details of their lives. An awful lot.
Sycophantic press? Look at the Daily Mail and their reporter, Bryony Gordon. Dancing to the Sussex tune.

simpsonthecat · 16/10/2026 11:43

I never see positive stuff about them in the DM but given I get a rash if I click on the DM, I wouldn't know!
However, it's good to know they do get some positive press

In fairness, I think they do, because they have sympathetic writers, like Gordon and others. The DM isn't for me, but it's good that there's a wide range, I suppose. There's a magazine called People that is also very positive, and the Sussexes give stories to.
They'll give stories to all sorts of outlets, but that's the same with all celebrities. I'm surprised sometimes that their PR isn't better - they had Sunshine Sachs, which is very expensive, but I think they've made some errors.
I think they definitely need better staff.

Yeah, they've also done a lot of charity work. I think all we can gather from the interviews, stories, and charitable acts is that they are complex people who, like everyone do and say some daft things sometimes, and also have the capacity to be kind, warm people.

I'm not gonna judge them for tiny snippets of their lives that have been shared in the press, they're ultimately still strangers to me, and I don't know, and never will know the full story. Nor do I care. They don't seem to be causing anyone any physical harm, and they seem to do a lot of good.

If I wanted to get riled up about someone in the public eye and the atrocities they cause, I could think of much more obvious and deserving candidates to focus my anger on.

LookOutLookOutTomCruiseIsAbout · 16/10/2026 13:18

For all the plucky repetitions of “isn’t it nice they’re back” / “they’re not doing any harm” / “why shouldn’t they do charity work” / “why do you all care so much” / “I’m not judging because I’ve never met them” / “whatabout Peter’s milk advert” / “swallowing the DM line” / “obsessive” / “bullying” / “frothing” / “he can’t help being a prince” / “fait accompli” and so on.. unfortunately the Nottingham trip was not exactly a resounding success - advertised well in advance yet still the crowds were tiny, mostly journalists or bussed in children, reports of aides trying to drum up interest amongst workers at the local industrial estate, crowd control barriers borrowed from roadworks, no security provided, bored kids, all a bit sad really. Perhaps it was a mistake to return to Nottingham and make the contrast with 2017, when thousands of people turned out, so stark. It’s going to look even more bargain basement when compared with the rf events coming up - Omani state visit, Aberfan commemorations, W+C in Mumbai for Earthshot. And then so embarrassing for Harry, ex-soldier and one time CG of the Marines, who now has no role and nowhere to be on Remembrance Sunday. Maybe he can find a celebrity party where he can wear his poppy, like he did last year 😬

I never said they didn't do charity work.
A book like Spare, the Oprah interview, a six part Netflix series and countless interviews are not "snippets".
Every single time; "oh, it's only snippets". No it's not.
They have shared a lot. In detail. About themselves and others. For money.
Their choice, some people like over sharing.
It's a fairly full picture. Not the frequently used term on here of "snippets". So over used!
Get "riled up" on who you want. I'm certainly not "riled up". I have the temerity to criticise them, which some people find difficult to accept.

You commented on my post on this thread to disagree, not the other way around. I don't care who you criticise. I'm essentially just saying I think it's daft that there's people who give that much of a shite about someone they don't even know, especially when, on the whole, they don't seem all that awful, particularly when you account for the literal fascists and known peadophiles knocking about in the public eye rn (but I'm not a royalist, so I don't personally feel hurt by anything Harry and Meghan have said or done).

Well. You've gone off on a tangent!
Actual fascists?! Yes, I'm on a thread about that topic too. It's possible to have a concern about multiple issues really. I suspect most of us do.
My response was to challenge your points, particularly the nonsensical "snippets". The rest? Crack on.
The biggest problem seems to be that I have the nerve to find H&M less than perfect and have criticised their behaviour. So be it.
I think the proper hardline royalists are the Harry and Meghan supporters who will kowtow because they're titled. The rest of us deploy critical thinking.

I don't know what that means. Is it a "snippet".

Frankenspencer · 16/10/2026 14:41

I’m still confused by a couple who left to escape publicity and the public eye do everything in their power to seek it out. They don’t want to be ‘working royals’ but brief the world to generate some newspaper space on charity visits that to the uneducated eye, look very much like a ‘working royal’ visit.

None of them fucking work anyway.

TheOvertGardener · 16/10/2026 16:45

Thedogscollar · 15/10/2026 18:41

The posts I've read are not just mildy irritated. They spend all their day on a thread slagging off HAM as they refer to them and waving and saying hi to each other on the thread.
It's out and out bullying and yes it's obsessive.
They need to get out more.
Talking about complete strangers for hours on the Internet is not healthy.

“waving and saying hi to each other on the thread.”

What in heaven’s name is wrong with saying Hi to other posters on the thread?

I am flummoxed!

Thedogscollar · 16/10/2026 20:35

I'll leave to feel flummoxed then. It's pretty clear to me what's going on.

I'm making a supposition, but I think being working royals was a bit too much for them and they thought they could make a lot of money as celebrities in California.
They're back being unofficial working royals because... maybe they made a mistake leaving?

and M makes everything about herself - have you seen that dreadful podcast..

kind hearted 😂😂😂

she complained when greeting crowds she wasn’t “getting payed for this” when they were in Australia as working royals - nevernind their houses ect they received at the expense of the taxpayer

I think they are worried about what William will do when he is king so they are trying to win over the public for support before hand to stop him taking their titles ect away

I think Charles is on limited time

I think Harry misses England and his identity here - he didn’t really have one in USA - he is desperate for the blue lights police armed security - he ended up as Spare again but to Meghan

I think they have weighed all up the effort of generating private income and the worry and realise they were on quite a golden ticket being working royals- the residences and security and not having to drum up interest yourself all the time when there isn’t really anything interesting about you

Ah, I think you have good points. They were very popular and had a lot of support, they also had amazing opportunities, events, travel etc - they're bound to miss it. In California I don't think royal titles mean much; we know they mean a lot to the Sussexes.
It hadn't occurred to me that they were planning for when William is King.

They should have stayed in America. No need for them here.

I think the Americans were glad to see them gone...

They hardly brought joy and happiness with them... Just a load of whingeing on US television, accompanied by huge pay checks and faces of thunder.

Americans love a success story. They don't like entitled losers, wealth born of birth and airing dirty laundry, much of it made up lies.
