The royal family

H&M are currently doing a ‘Royal’ walkabout thing in Nottingham.

A crowd has turned out to see them. It’s currently being covered live on Sky News. Why on earth would anyone do this?

They aren’t working royals. They are just a pair of chancers who have scuttled back to Britain with their tails between their legs because they have died on their arses in the US. And now people are tugging their forelocks to them here.

People really are absolute fucking morons.

I am baffled at snybody standing in freezing weather to see any RF members, working or not tbh.

But…..

What exactly do people want them to actually do with their lives?
They get derided for selling naff jam, doing interviews, making tv programmes (not ever watched so no clue if these were any good?!).
Then it seems so many don’t want them doing “royal” engagements…

Have the Palace not scored an own goal here by removing wirking royal status as it leaves them free to pretty much behave as such but schedule as they please….
They should have sorted all this out when the whole “half in half out” chatter was happening surely?

What would people here be happy seeing them do?

I am not personally offended if they use their status as a platform for good to boost charities or highlight issues if need, many celebrities do similar, or is it this that everyone is unhappy with?

That lady looks like she is sucking on his hand!!🧛 - how very odd

dulwich999 · 15/10/2026 18:46

Well there apparently won’t be many more engagements with them both as there are too many scripts to be read.

Looking forward to the 20 years on reboot of 90210.

SilenceInside · 15/10/2026 18:50

The hand kissing is very odd! But apparently quite a well known bit of royal ritual albeit not normally done these days.

Constantrunner · 15/10/2026 18:51

Local people blocked a road outside one charity project trying to see Harry and Meghan.

Flamingbanana214 · 15/10/2026 18:51

The other day people were queuing down the street at 6am for a new jacket potato shop opening in a petrol station. It clearly doesn't take much to draw a crowd these days 😂

fando · 15/10/2026 18:53

Tbh I just like Meghans fashion

Were they opening a jacket potato shop on the street?

YellowScarfRupert · 15/10/2026 18:57

How can private people do public walkabouts. Mm

NocturnalFox · 15/10/2026 18:58

@Constantrunner ·
why should they avoid every single day when the king and queen are doing anything? Trust me, nobody in England where Nottingham is cares about the Welsh opening of parliament.
Okay I did not know only royals are allowed to use the word official. What a load of nonsense. If it was described as a royal visit there would be grounds to complain.
And official obviously means working in this context rather than a leisure visit.
The truth is you all think only royals are allowed to visit charities. Which is especially strange when you simply get famous people doing clearly royal duties like investitures.

As for the timing, it is clearly an attempt to interfere, via the media, with the activities of the royals. It is malicious and, naturally, annoying.
In the context of formal public appearances, the term "official" is understood to refer to someone who holds higher authority, or someone acting as a representative of some person or institution. That is not the case with H&M.
Personally, I don’t believe that only royals can visit charities—my school does, for instance (and we are private citizens...).
It is abundantly clear that they are trying to feign an identity that is not their own.

Let’s call this a rejection of facts and statistics in favor of emotions on which to base judgements, then.

I don't believe you need to be an expert statistician to observe when a particular thread was started and how many posts it has attracted since, do you? Seems like an easily discernable fact.

SilenceInside · 15/10/2026 19:07

@YellowScarfRupert As well as being private individuals, they also have a public profile, whatever they personally feel about that. Harry is a prince and the son of the current king. Plenty of people will be interesting in him and Meghan, in some way or another, as the fact that people showed up today indicates.

Constantrunner · 15/10/2026 19:08

An attempt to interfere with the royals lolol. You mean because Harry and Meghan get more press coverage?

NewGirlInTown · 15/10/2026 19:08

Fake as fuck. Fewer than 100 people, all PR’d in.
Markle as manic as ever. Wonder which substances the two of them were on today.
It’s pathetic and fools no one.

simpsonthecat · 15/10/2026 19:09

BBC said more than 200 actually.

Constantrunner · 15/10/2026 19:09

@NewGirlInTown sorry the hundreds of local people turning out have triggered you

Do people really think like this? Interfere, malicious, annoying. They did a walk about, it’s really not a big deal.

SereneFinch · 15/10/2026 19:11

Some people seem very annoyed that Harry & Meghan are still liked and supported by members of the public.

fando · 15/10/2026 19:11

I did one earlier, had some mild interest from a cat

They’re never going to be ‘private’ people though, are they? They’re public figures and members of the royal family.

dulwich999 · 15/10/2026 19:13

The cats in Nottingham clearly had more sense.

@DoubleShotEspresso · Today 18:40

"Half in, half out" is impossible. The Edinburghs already tried it back in the day. They were accused of a conflict of interest and of using their royal connections for personal gain. Whether that was the case or not, it does nothing to foster the transparency expected of the Crown.
And Harry, of course, must have been aware of this...

I am not personally offended if they use their status as a platform for good to boost charities or highlight issues if need, many celebrities do similar, or is it this that everyone is unhappy with?
Do you think they use their status selflessly? Just look at the meeting with Malala... lots of grandstanding, only to end up donating a single day’s tea sales.

Constantrunner · 15/10/2026 19:15

They have donated to the charities they visited today.

NocturnalFox · 15/10/2026 19:18

@fando · Today 19:10

Yes, absolutely. One would have to be naive not to think that the date was chosen maliciously.

Constantrunner · 15/10/2026 19:18

@NocturnalFox that is estimated to be $364,000 dollars. So a significant donation.
