Still interested, still not bored….a small request please 🙏…can we try to keep criticism to actions and behaviour and rather than getting personal.😁

That hand-on-back pose in body language is code for "I own this space" you see it in a State Leader (PM, President etc) when recieving another Head of State in No10, WH, etc. Its a power play and show of ownership of the process of walking through a space

Who was it who did it to HMTLQ once?

Aussie PM back in the day.

Paul Keating, I think. The Lizard of Oz.

I think it was Michelle Obama, but as she was the wife of a head of state it didn't count.

I admit I thought it was trump? , the unless I’m mixing up the Theresa may handholding? 🤔

If I’m being cynical, I wonder if Harry’s “depression” cured itself magically like Meghan’s did 🤷‍♀️. I suspect he means he was a bit miserable

I'd categorise it more as a great big sulk that he/they didn't get their own way......

Apparently TLHMQ didn't mind MOB doing that. Not sure about how true that is.

Tangent but my Irish autotype brain just tried to spell her name as Michelle O'Bama which just made me laugh a little bit 😁

TIL: Do not type tired.

Trump did too. I actually thought it was GW Bush too but don't quote me on that.

Yes I saw remember that when they first arrived the Horners were supposed to be welcoming them to the Cotswolds! Geri must have been giving Meghan style tips also!

Wasn't that refuted by H&M?

Bollihobs · 09/10/2026 13:26

Kingsandqueenz · 09/10/2026 13:18

Yes! I really struggle to understand how Malala felt afternoon tea with Meghan in such a public place was a good idea.
As I read in another thread there is a side entrance for those who don't want to be seen leaving they could have used that?

Completely agree. Strange pairing (apparently there was some podcast link up during Covid lockdown) and strangely public for no good reason whatsoever.

So for Halloween we have MM as a Jedi and PH and the Incredible Sulk 🧌

AlexandraCarrington · 09/10/2026 13:29

Ah yes. I did remember Michelle Obama, but thought there was also a male political figure who had done it.

I can imagine with MM you might end up giving in as a way of just shutting her up. It might be very mithersome to try and put a polite boundary in place:

"I would like to, but I'm currently very busy/looking after my pet cactus/I am allergic to posh tea/I would love to but I don't want to"

I feel like that sort of thing would be ignored and a firm boundary might end up being met with a terrible ragey tantrum

I have in mind Trump, Paul Keating, John Howard (apparently, the jury has remained out), and of course, Michelle Obama.

I know it was quite a few pages back - this thread moves at lightning pace - but loved this sentence from the very clever article in The Times -

“ Malala wore the bemused expression of someone caught up in events not quite within their control “.

So THAT’S why Harry has that permanent glazed look - it’s the Markle Adjacent face.

Other explanations for it may vary ……

Yes , I avoid those threads because it’s just not my thing 🤷‍♀️

The Style and Beauty thread is a very kind and gentle one, mild dislikes are acceptable but certainly no pulling an outfit apart at the seams as is happening on here. If someone introduces one of MM's appearances there is usually just a couple of posts and then....moving quickly on!

AlexandraCarrington · 09/10/2026 13:35

After she died, Barack Obama in his tribute talked about how when Michelle and their daughters were on a private visit to London, the Queen heard of it and invited them to tea at BP. So she must have liked them enough to give up her time to entertain them when she could have been watching the racing on tv.

I still reckon the primary reason for keeping the Hamlets faces under wraps is that they’re not nearly as photogenic as the Wales kids, and HAM can't handle that.

I think this is an unacceptable comment.

All together: "you can't say adjacent!"

Exactly as Malala needs no publicity why was the meet up so public & the front entrance of the hotel used? It's odd

BillyBites · 09/10/2026 13:39

There is a shot of Meghan doing the hand-on-the-back thing at Buckingham Palace, guiding Harry back through the balcony doors. That has always jarred with me because there is no way it was ever “her” space above his.

Not critical of them life , I did pop on awhile ago ( to escape some unpleasantness) but I have no interest and nothing to add apart from….they all look nice 🤷‍♀️

I still can’t believe that any sane person would look at Harry’s behaviour and thought….you know what…we need to get this chap to do a masterclass and pay him a hundred grand for it!!! 🙄

So if it's £100k for a full speech, just wondering if it's £50k when the auto cue breaks half way through.....
