Has King Charles done this?

Has King Charles in his four years as Monarch managed to fill his Late Mother’s shoes and remedy at least some of the gaping hole left in the hearts of the British people following her passing?

Why or why not?

She left no gaping hole in my heart.

emuloc · 06/10/2026 18:37

'Gaping hole left in the hearts of the British people'? I can't speak for the Nation, but I am coping. I don't really follow what KC has been doing, so I don't know if he is doing a good, or bad job.

FFS what gaping hole did she leave in the hearts of the British people?

JazzyJelly · 06/10/2026 18:39

Bit strong. But no, he's not as good as his mother was.

Gourdgirl · 06/10/2026 18:40

I didn't give a fuck

😂😂😂

I hear that! Gaping hole indeed!

Yetie · 06/10/2026 18:40

lol

AgnesX · 06/10/2026 18:41

I can't say I'd noticed a gaping hole tbh. It took the Beeb a while to fill the gaping hole in the TV schedule for a while but the majority of people managed to cope.

I had a lot of affection for the late Queen but as more has come out about Andrew MW, it's left somewhat of a nasty taste behind. And frankly I think she should have abdicated some decade before she passed away, letting Charles have a longer reign. As it is, he's a frail elderly man assumingly living with cancer and he's made little impact on the public as a result. Which is a shame in many ways.

I'm not really sure what William stands to inherit in terms of the British Monarchy, given the shit that Harry and Meghan keep throwing at it, and Andrew for that matter.

Yes this sums up how I feel.

Well maybe they should all call it a day, I certainly think that the Country will survive without them.

AI garbage ! Fwiw no hole in my heart she was 96 years old she had a good innings. King charles is doing fine.

Oldtigernidster · 06/10/2026 18:48

He’s much nicer than she ever was.

Ratherhaveacupofteaandabiscuit · 06/10/2026 18:48

Yet another weird thread started about the RF by a new poster.

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 06/10/2026 18:49

Good grief.

£12 million pounds cover up of an abused woman.
Never complain never explain.🤮🤮🤮

MrsBennetsPoorNervesAreBack · 06/10/2026 18:51

What gaping hole?

The monarchy is an anachronism. It was then, and it is now.

RaininSummer · 06/10/2026 18:55

Gaping hole? Nope. Charles just exists on the periphery of my consciousness as do the other ones.

Topseyt123 · 06/10/2026 19:00

There's no gaping hole! What a twatty suggestion.

The Queen reigned for a long time, but as more and more has come out about how she did nothing about her arse of a son, Andrew, the respect a number of people had for her has slipped a little. She even paid £12 million hush money to Virginia Giuffre. It's certainly never been denied anyway. Meaning she knew what was going on yet left KC and those who come after her to clean up when the shit hit the fan, as it did big time.

MrsBennetsPoorNervesAreBack · 06/10/2026 19:00

The style of this post is very similar to some others that I've seen recently.

Odd.

Damnedidont · 06/10/2026 19:01

I think he did a great job with the US state visit and I feel he's had more than his fair share of shit show with cancer, Andrew , Harry and Meghan and now Spencer.

Yes, I do feel some sympathy for him with all of that lot.

Aussiesgettingsmashed · 06/10/2026 19:07

That man should never have been allowed to be king after the way he treated the Princess of Hearts,

IdaGlossop · 06/10/2026 19:08

I would expect my mother, born 1922, to have asked this question. A heated argument would have ensued. It would have involved the words 'privilege', 'respect', 'disobedient', 'absurd', 'soap opera' and 'past its sell-by date', and ended with flouncing (out of the room).

WellThatIsABitMad · 06/10/2026 19:09

For me, he’s just there in the background. He has been ill, likely still is, and is probably doing his best for an ill, not young, man. The Queen was probably more popular simply due to the length of her reign. I don’t have strong feelings either way.
