Always worth having a set of prompt cards. Or reading around one's subject matter, maybe on a long flight.

It's almost as if he can't rely solely on technology.

Oh the irony.

TheDuchessofTwatt · 23/09/2026 20:28

CS dismisses his three previous wives as "all double divorcees" - was that before marriage to CS making the tally three or was his contribution to give them a second stream of alimony? I believe wife no 4 has been married previously so she is on thin ice.

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 23/09/2026 20:29

It probably cast off a long time ago when CS introduced his mother to Bashir and sent her those awful letters.

What I find utterly baffling about that if neither CS neither Diana deployed the slightest amount of critical thinking about the info Bashir said he had. Where he got it, who gave them to him...I mean, I know Diana was in an acute state of paranoia but surely Spencer, historian that he is, might have checked where all this info came from?

Megyn Kelly reporting on the disastrous NYC speech

bluegreygreen · 23/09/2026 20:33

Telegraph story of the autocue breakdown - apparently he finished his speech when it started working again

https://archive.is/W98Jz

I think if he really knew anything about his subject he would have been able to keep talking for a couple of minutes and then finished with the main points.

It seems similar to the WellChild question where he wasn't able to point to the work of the charity in his answer.

He should have gotten his phone and asked AI to write him a speech on the evils of AI. Simples.

bluegreygreen · 23/09/2026 20:37

Kelly Zafjen has been friends with Meghan for some time.

She sadly lost a young son and has run several charity events that Meghan has appeared at. She has recently had a child (several years after that loss).

It’s very telling that he seems to have no in-depth knowledge to draw on. If you’re interested in a subject and a confident speaker, which he is, of course you can improvise.

Harold’s teleprompter stoped working so he just walked off the stage. Obviously doesn’t know his subject well enough to talk without it. Nobhead.

An expert would have been able to hold a Q&A or something. It could not be clearer that Harry has no indepth knowledge of anything he pontificates about .

Snap!

I have given speeches and if you don't know enough to at least say something relevant without notes you shouldn't be seen as having anything to contribute at all in serious circles.

I’m not understanding the significance of the page the books opened at. In fact it’s all going right over the top of my head. 😊

It really is is such a pantomime because only thing M reads is her own press and H has openly said he has never read a book.

"He added: “It doesn’t just want your attention, it wants your attachment. It wants to be the thing you confide in. The thing that remembers you."

Says the CHIMPO of a company that offers AI Counsellors. You could not make this up.

This is a genuine train if thought.

If any of us were giving a speech and for whatever reason the words failed us, a feeling of mortification or maybe obligation to the audience or the booking or the job would make the old adrenaline boot up and we'd muddle through in some improv form or another, probably, right?

But. What if simply he DGAF? Like it means nothing to him if he speaks, or doesn't, stays, or doesn't?

Total conjecture. It's just a thought experiment. I'm literally just thinking of the possibility that he attaches no significance to... anything? Idk. Thoughts? Possible? Way off?

bluegreygreen · 23/09/2026 20:53

Possibly, it's hard to say.

The video on the Telegraph TwiX post shows him saying 'And that's it', putting the microphone down and walking off.

TheTwerkingDuchessOfMonteshitshow · 23/09/2026 18:24

I think I’d prefer listening to him based on the modern day and his experience.

You thnk modern people burn easier than Mediaevil ones? Or you think the testimonies of educated Mediaevil witnesses to many burnings count less than the opinion.ofca modern doctor?

If burning to death were a moment's pain followed by near-instant death, wouldn't yhe burn victims your Dr relative sees all be dead?

He is basically institutionalised. He was born into a way of life where someone did all the background preparation and organisation and somehow that has translated into him believing his presence, rather than who he used to represent, was the thing that made an impact. He doesn't have the depth of knowledge himself and without the structure he is floundering.

Meanwhile ..

God.

What fresh fuckery is this?

The max size wine glass. The shelf under the table that should be committing GBH on Rachel's shins but isn't. The massively manly foreground Markus man and the tiny female extras.

Just me longing for the days of a homely and untampered with Kodak print?

I would always take my own notes, either on paper or on a tablet. I wouldn't rely on someone else's tech in a strange venue. (Lecturing is one of my jobs.)

But yes, I'd apologise for the breakdown and carry on as best I could. A pp suggested a Q and A. That or throwing the session open to discussion would keep things going and could liven up the audience.

Has anyone watched the Thomas Duke (lovely man) interview with William?

I thought William came across so articulate and relatable during the chat.

It occurs to me there may be a silver lining to the Charles Spencer book.
Since it has caused such outrage, and so many inaccuracies are being exposed and discussed, he has lost all credibility . Could it be that this will somewhat put the brakes on any proposed 30 year documentary, especially if it had been planned to be in cahoots with CS, and making use of his extensive family archives, and the possibility of filming at her actual grave?

There were reports that Harry had been putting out feelers among old friends and relations of Diana for contributions. Surely now, only the lowest of the low and most desperate for some sort of publicity or small fee, would agree to have anything to do with it?

I honestly don't see how H&M can go ahead with documentary plans after this, but of course as we so often say on here - just when you think they can't go any lower....

I agree. CS has poisoned the well.

I had wondered whether his book would peak interest or saturate it but had no idea that it would be so awful that it would go down like a cup of cold sick.

I can’t see anyone wanting to waste money on a Diana documentary with H&M as a second course.

yes! I think she is the woman whose baby bump Meghan grabbed at a charity event (thereby literally, grabbing the attention)

Well that's down to him. His grandfather, his father and his aunt all knew or know their stuff after decades of doing their homework. The late Queen's knowledge of Commonwealth affairs was often said to be greater than that of her ministers.
