TwiX is being TwiX, and making things worse than they are.

That is an edited version.

The actual picture from As ever is attached. There is no music. The bookmark says 'Only gets better'. The addresses are divided into Newsagents and Nightclubs.

This kind of TwiX "editing" happens all the time and it's silly and counterproductive. That said, Meghan does like to leave daft "clues" in her posts, so she encourages endless speculation.

My first impression of this as a marketing tool is, who would want a bookmark like that? It would probably fall out as soon as you put your book in your bag (which is what people do with travel guides especially). Also, why use an obviously very old and outdated guidebook that is useless today? And what a weird position to place the book on the sofa, as though it's cosily being read and just casually put down, although you probably wouldn't put it down that way. The scribbly handwriting that's hard to read, the incomplete phrase - what gets better? It's all so contrived and doesn't capture the "lifestyle" effect she's aiming for.

There's so much to ridicule about As Ever and Meghan's Instagram account, if you were bored enough to want to waste your time on them. There's no need to make stuff up.

Any other posters here who would rather give their last tiara than accept the hand of Tom Cruise, or shall I throw myself in the tower?

Apologies for the derail. Solidarity to Katie Holmes if you are on MN.

I reckon Fawcett is on an NDA that carries the death penalty if he even dreams about breaching it in the tiniest detail. He must have oodles of juicy secrets to tell.

Apparently the top bods at PenguinRH are having an emergency meeting this morning. It must be panic stations there today. Thoughts and prayers for their publicity department.

Swan Song is an apt title. I doubt anyone will publish a book of CSpencer’s again.

Never has a title backfired and actually predicted the outcome of the author …..since endgame!

That is why my friends and I stay out of midtown. I cannot tell you how many rants I've heard about tourists blocking the sidewalks while the locals try to walk around them.

Like the Tube in London. Stand on the right on escalators, unless you want everyone to know you're a tourist or a country bumpkin.

OTOH, anyone who has ever used the Tube will automatically fall into single file and stand on the right on any escalator anywhere.

Once on a trip to London I entered a tube station very early in the morning. I was nervous and kept on looking up above me for signposts. After one period of looking up for quite a while I started to pay attention to where I was going only to be ci fronted by the sight of what seemed like an army of a few hundred people dressed in black business attire surging towards me. The look on their faces at the sight of this country bumpkin walking towards them like Moses wading into the sea has stayed with me to this day.

Oh god yes, he is MASSIVELY creepy. I mean, having him hold your hand is probably a bit less awful than having to sit next to Trump at dinner, but I wouldn't put myself in Kate's shoes for any money.

WSC is a distant relation of CS, who probably thinks that the eloquence is a family trait he's inherited.

IMO Spencer appears to be the type of man who is quick to claim association with members and branches of the wider Spencer family when it's beneficial to his ego and grift (eg Churchill), and even quicker to disown past family members and branches as being irrelevant when it's expeditious for him to do so (eg the Spencer branch concerned with slavery). He seems to be a very pick 'n' mix historian.

Typical Harry to assume someone just casually walking down the street was a threat that needed his bodyguard’s intervention.
The neck of the guy, giving a passing random minding their own business a shove.

I suspect the vast majority of New Yorkers haven't got a clue who Harry is, and care even less. Waving people away only draws attention to an otherwise entirely unremarkable balding middle aged man, which is probably the whole idea. Also, the UNGA is currently meeting in NY, so there are actual important people in town.

Not to mention that Harry's 'security guard' is, like Harry, a private citizen. So he has no right to tell anyone where they can or cannot walk.

Think I'd rather marry Harry*

The dark haired lady next to him? Don't think so. Body shape is different and she's walking too quickly.

And I have the impression that people don’t come more cynical and hard to impress than they do in New York! (Any US MNers on today?)

I mean, the fake pap car chase there was met with scorn, from what I remember. I imagine they’re far less credulous than wacky Californians.

I wonder if the glitzy launch party will go ahead in 6 days? Apparently part of it was supposed to be CS "in conversation" with Tina Brown.

...and if it does will anyone turn up?

Interestingly the event link appears to be currently unavailable

MrsLeonFarrell · 23/09/2026 14:44

In the video the bodyguard seems to be warding off pedestrians who are showing no interest in Harry at all. I'm not sure his security is top tier as everything they do seems rather amateurish.

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 23/09/2026 09:33

Although it didn't any of those families much good, did it? Boleyns faded into obscurity, Seymours and male Woodvilles ended up on the block and Elizabeth Woodville shoved into a convent.

No wonder the monarchy waited until the early 20c before trying that again.

One of my ancestors crowned Lady Jane Grey. He got burned at the stake for his efforts.

It's the sort of thing I was impressed by and proud of as a kid, but as a mature adult, he's just another schemer who manipulated a teenage girl resulting in her death.

Lunde · 23/09/2026 14:50

Why is Harry trotting along the streets of NYC?

Wouldn't professional security arrange to drop him by car near to the venue and avoid a pavement trek?

Is the aggressive security just an attempt to create a "security threat" to bolster his RAVEC case?

Or is he trying to cosplay his brother who walked around NYC with low key security a few years ago and even went for a morning run in Central Park?

It struck me that they might be under instructions to create "security threats"

Ahem, Californian here. And whilst the tobaccy we smoke here may be 'wacky', the vast majority of us here are not.

We may be less overtly nonchalant than our NYC compatriots, but we certainly can spot a couple of posers when we see them. Hence HAM's 'reverse freedom flight'.

Yes if he pushed or hit me, I’d be reporting him to the police for assault.

Heh. I’m in Tetbury, parked on a one hour space and photographed by traffic warden as I got out (you don’t often see traffic wardens here but every so often they do a profitable swoop). So I’m on a timed
mission and the pavement blocked by American tourists. 🤦‍♀️😓
