This was at an event this week. But the photo just made me gasp. It looks like the elderly woman is being used as a prop, rather than being treated in a dignified way.

I’ll have to stop reading it now as I’m going to wake up DP if I carry on laughing to myself. Too funny.

@OneLilacHedgehog You've started 2 anti-royal family threads in as many days.

Is this a worthwhile way to spend your time?

I find that the angry people on here do tend to be the republicans - with some honourable exceptions, of course. They sometimes accuse the monarchists of being rabid, or frothing, but honestly I’ve always found the opposite to be true.

It often makes me titter as I sit, good- humouredly typing, to be told I’m frothing or spitting vitriol by a pp who is clearly doing just that.

This is quite amusing for you to say the angry people sre republicans and you sit here good humoured typing and not frothing but yet you have posted saying how frustrated you are. There have been comments by others on the PR disasters thread who don't like H&M saying how angry its actually making them, frustrating, they sre now grumpt etc. Some even say they should probably go take a break away from it all for a bit.

Personally haven't seen a 'republican' poster say they are angry/ frustrated/annoyed because...

I agree. The actual republicans have said none of these things. The pseudo republican Sussex supporters on the other hand….

I can help you with that - how about this explanation for republican ire from Passementerie as an example:

But of course republicans would be angrier than the pro-monarchy brigade. The monarchists are living under a system which, despite its expense, ridiculously reactionary ‘logic’ and anti-egalitarianness, they say they’re broadly happy under. They like being ‘subjects’. They like the bread and circuses. They like waving little flags on the routes of royal weddings, and outfit-spotting and following the soap opera of it all. Republicans are naturally angry because they think that having a sacred bloodline is anachronistic nonsense in the 21st century.

Well unless someone has been clear they are a republican on here can't really say or assume posters are either.

They are all the same woman.

You know that.

Did you deliberately scroll past the other photos to choose this particular photo?

What a horrible miserable post to make about a lady in her 90s.

Shame on you.

There are plenty of posters who preface their posts with “I am a republican”, or drop it in to their post somewhere, but then go on to gush about the Sussexes. Then there are posters who are actually republicans who cant understand why anyone would say there were a republican and yet support the cosplaying Royal wannabes

That's the biggest question. Why do they support the Sussexes? They are the worst kind of royalty.

Call me crazy, but I reckon they might be fibbing, Olympic.

AlexandraCarrington · 21/09/2026 17:20

I don't see why anyone would support H&M.
A monarchist (which I am) would oppose their attempts to undermine our constitutional monarchy
A republican would oppose their insistence on having and using titles even in circumstances where they are meaningless
A human being would oppose their behaviour towards family members when family is going through some of its hardest times.

KCitsweyourHammiewevecomehomenow · 21/09/2026 17:34

There’s a pseudo republican (because they are just anti Kate and pro Meghan under it all) who under a different name now as they shamed themselves who just to talk
about cot savings,
In Ireland the costs of elections would wipe out most of these savings along with pensions, police protection etc for them all when they retired. It can get quite expensive if they all live to a ripe old age

if you’re a republican fine, how to you counteract the shower of shits like Farage and Boris Johnson who might end up in this role.

Waiting for the courts to declare it illegal, just as they should do under the separation of the powers.

So the technical term for that is 'nothing'.
