Their titles are not in abeyance - the letter from BP itself refers to them as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. What is in abeyance is their styles, i.e. HRH. To quote the letter:

'Their styles as His and Her Royal Highness remain in abeyance and are not used.'

Also pertinent:

'Any specific questions from official and State organisations about the courtesies which should be extended to the Duke and Duchess, and particularly where recourse to public funds may be required, should be directed to Buckingham Palace.'

So they can never trick some gullibles into treating them as official royals and HRHs or offer them public funds (e.g. for security or expenses) for performing "royal" duties and BP will have oversight over any attempts at this.

On the Palace Confidential episode last Thursday, Charlotte Griffiths said she had been told that the Diana Award gala dinner (that Harry was due to attend but had recently denied that he was going to) had been cancelled.

She and Richard Eden were planning to try to find out what had happened and report on it. I haven't seen any update.

They are still dook and dookess... it's just that they are not supposed to be addressed - "styled" - as HRH. This has been the case for years now, but it didn't prevent M from continuing to use her HRH-emblazoned stationery.

If I were them I’d be high tailing it back to California before more humiliation could be heaped upon me.
Alas we know they won’t take this as a slight or an attempt to preemptively clip their wings.
It will be seen as a sign that they’re winning, that the RF feel threatened by their presence.
‘King Harold on the throne’ operation will be in full swing. They’ll be gathering their army ready to over throw the King.

Well …..perhaps it’s also a warning! ….lets not forget that they have openly defied the agreements they made during the sandrinham summit and it strikes me that this announcement serves as a reminder and a possible warning!

I am really surprised at the tone - it’s crystal clear and pulls no punches. Not what I expected but it absolutely needed to be said, and said before the Sussexes and their supporters start any nonsense with royal cosplaying.

Following the decision by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to relocate to the UK, we have received a number of requests for Guidance. To help avoid doubt or confusion, The King has directed that the following information be shared.

It is well known that in January 2020 the Duke and Duchess stepped down from undertaking representative duties on behalf of The Sovereign, and are no longer working Members of The Royal Family. This position, distinct from the State and Royal duties undertaken by the working Royal Family, and with the personal latitude it brings the couple in respect of financial independence and protection of their privacy as they would wish, will continue to be fully respected.

It follows that there is no change to the current status of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. Their styles as His and Her Royal Highness remain in abeyance and are not used. The charitable work of the Duke and Duchess is a personal matter for them both and undertaken in their private capacity. In short, their position is akin to private citizens with commercial and charitable interests.

Any specific questions from official and State organisations about the courtesies which should be extended to the Duke and Duchess, and particularly where recourse to public funds may be required, should be directed to Buckingham Palace. Any operational security issues should continue to be directed to the relevant Police authorities.

All correspondence and administrative questions relating to the couple should be sent directly to their office, which will continue to operate separately from The Royal Household.

I agree . I reckon KC has got wind of some proposed activities and is shutting it down. He is probably heartily sick of all the PR spin and leaks .

Yep!!, it seems that Charles has reached his limit! , he may have been able to turn a blind eye to their behaviour while in the US but it’s a different matter when it’s on home turf!! , and we don’t know exactly what was said during that brief visit! , but I imagine not discussing it with a room full of strangers at a dinner party was definitely not a part of it!! , Meghan has dropped them in it again!

Neil Sean said the other week that ticket sales had plummeted because of Meghan's rumoured attendance. People don't want to pay to see the Meghan show.

I think the date was originally fixed to coincide with the Well Child Awards when Harry used to come alone to the UK - but now they are living here I guess Meghan expects an invitation .....
