I can't see that H&M would allow the first f2f sighting of their kids to be the Sandringham walk. Those pictures will be worth a fortune when they ever happen and they would want to make money from them - shots taken by the UK media and locals lining the drive would not be the way to do it.

I don't think they will be worth a fortune now. They might have a few years ago, but I don't think people would be that interested.

However HAM might hope that if they appeared on the Sandringham walk then they would push the Waleses out of the spotlight for that photo op.

But I think the best way KC3 could go would be to announce that in accordance with their wish for privacy and that they don't wish the dc's faces to be in the media, that they won't be doing anything like that.

@canklesmctacotits Diana wasn't a working royal after her divorce in 1996.

No she wasn’t, and that left her for the brief time until her death, without a clear role in public life. Just like Harry now.

He obviously doesn’t want to be all-in again, he’s said as much. But after his remarks in the Ukraine where he couldn’t bring himself to say he’s a working royal but that he is a royal family member who works, he wants something. And he needs a lot of money. It’s a disaster waiting to happen. Nothing had changed since they left, the needs are the same. He’s still wanting to carve out a progressive new role (or whatever he called it) which isn’t a bad thing in and of itself but is if it detracts from the work of others.

Lifestooshort71 · Yesterday 16:50

Upthread someone said HAM will probably go back to Montecito for Christmas (or Portugal if Trump says no?) which would solve all the 'are they/aren't they getting invited' discussions. I can't see M taking the risk of being snubbed.

They just wouldn’t dare. I think backs would be turned as some were on the QE2 funeral walkabout, which very much unnerved Meghan. The public at that occasion are very, very pro-RF.

Exactly. As the saying goes, there's no such thing as bad publicity. And for a small charity it's massive free publicity.
But I do think the royal family website should stick to working royals. It can't be beyond the wit of someone to come up with criteria that allow former working royals who are effectively retired to still be included (like the Gloucesters) but leaves out the sussexes. It's insulting that there are photos and guff about H&M's blink and you'd miss them, time as working royals.

Whilst I totally agree with you about removing H&M from the RF website, can I correct you about the Duke & Duchess of Gloucester. They are still carrying out engagements, e.g. attending the Battle of the Somme memorial service in July, the inaugural Day of Remembrance for Victims and Survivors of Terrorism and they've visited Gloucester, York & Tunbridge Wells recently as well as attending an event at St George's Chapel Windsor

I doubt there are still big pay offs to Hello magazine etc? I think it’s more complex to engineer a revenue stream - maybe they could do a GRWM for Hello prior to the walk ! And then she could also merch the clothes of the kids backs on the day….

PullTheBricksDown · Yesterday 17:03

Agree about Sandringham Christmas plus: that's three and a half months from now. No way will those children remain out of sight for that long. Charles could take a sudden downturn - sorry to be morbid, but I've had a reminder myself lately that you can't count on anyone lasting indefinitely. Meghan will need them to make a media debut before then.

Thanks @AustenitesUnite
And apologies to the Gloucesters for prematurely retiring them! But the principle remains that there has to be a way of ensuring that those who cease being working royals after decades of service remain represented whilst those that flounce, are not.

But they had a framed photograph of Gloria Steinem readily available?!!!!

Could it be that the photo was on a phone, and hurriedly printed off? That might explain the poor
framing.

YourWinter · Yesterday 17:15

As HAMs are so obsessed with keeping their children’s faces hidden, perhaps knitted balaclavas are in the pipeline?

I just saw a tweet by Smart Works (the charity that provides women going back into the workplace with suitable work clothes) that they’re excited to welcome Meghan, their patron, back in the UK. The RF website still features Harry and Meghan, and on Meghan’s page is a photo and description of her Smart Works patronage. If Meghan does a single thing for Smart Works now that she’s back, I think we can assume “half in, half out” has happened.

The same part of Charles that allows community sharing and openness and becoming Defender of All Faiths (to reference another thread that’s ongoing right now) is what’s stopping him from drawing a line under Harry and therefore Meghan.

But you don't have to be royal to be patron of a charity.

Agree.

I'd think they could quietly change that particular page to 'The Working Members of the Royal Family", which would then allow them to remove HAM, hopefully without causing a big kerfuffle.

Or 'Members of the Royal Family Who Carry Out Official Public Engagements' if the word 'working' seems inappropriate to them.

bluegreygreen · Yesterday 17:29

It would be easy enough to update the website to have an area for family members, and another area for working royals, but I think they're just avoiding that particular problem.

Kirschcherries · Yesterday 17:31

The problem with removing H&M from the RF website is KC would be accused of racism. The argument would be he doesn’t want his grandchildren of colour on the website.

Much better to just leave it and allow a revamp when W becomes King, as that is the time to completely overhaul the website.

Yeah that's what Harry was doing when he was prowling about - nipping to Boots to get a print out.

I really don't think it's that. The royal family website is just a confusing, clunky mess. They don't even have a proper web based version. The site you use on a computer is clearly designed to be used on a phone. It's obviously not a priority, and I really don't think the Sussexes' inclusion is a big deal one way of the other.

My mother supports a charity in the north of England . It’s a bit like Smartworks but for men , so very nice suits , overcoats , shirts , ties etc for interviews. It’s a friend of hers who set it up so that’s why she does it. I asked her whether she would support Smart works and she said she would support similar but not with M. That’s one person so cannot be taken as wider support

LADDO · Yesterday 18:15

The irony of her trying to get back with SmartWorks when as an employer (even at interview stage) she herself has been repeatedly reported to be a sneering, belittling bully to people just trying to earn a crust - as reported by witnesses and victims of her treatment from numerous legally watertight investigations. I expect she has been frozen out of Hollywood not just for her lack of talent but also her vile treatment of employees.

bluerememberedhills · Yesterday 18:20

Oh can I just say - I am at at my mothers house , I have just posted as bluerememberedhills , but it is me BasiliskStare - this is me using my mothers computer so it all went a bit tits up . Sorry , not trying to sock the puppet - genuine mistake 😂

It’s Meghan marrying a young Christopher Biggins.

Yes, I thought Ed Sheeran as well! Plus, Meghan's hair? It's all very weird.
