Plus, I suspect he is still in contact with some of his old crowd, despite reports of some of them dropping away (or being dropped because M didn’t like them).
True friends wouldn’t blab about it so we wouldn’t know.

I can remember quite a few years ago there was a documentary series made about the working lives of the Royal Family. One of the programmes featured a State Visit to the USA by HM The Queen and a lady from the British Embassy in Washington who was integral to the planning explained that it was a mistake to think that just because the British & Americans speak the same language that their culture is the same because it really isn't

I think this is so true and M has never understood the British way of life. Prince William was correct in advising PH to slow the relationship down (this was before H proposed to M). Knowing what we now know I'm not sure it would have made a huge difference but it's interesting to think about whether a year as an anonymous person in the UK would have benefited M or not

Found you!

Couldn’t resist the name change.

For those at you not in the UK, Saturday school starts at Year 7 so Archie won’t be in a 6 day week until then. And as a PP on a previous thread said, boarding starts at Year 4 and the children usually get eased in gently.

My brood have finally finished their vair expensive school that had very HNW families, overseas royalty and celeb children. I think going back to the Cotswolds is a mistake for them, there are some very loyal people to both KC and Camilla from her pre-Royal days. The teachers will be used to dealing with demanding parents and will not take any nonsense. One parent at my DC’s school called the paps and the Head was furious. It never happened again.

What is HNW?

As H&M wanted kids though time really wasn't on their side.

I mean PW went to the other extreme in many ways.

Does he realise that Highgrove is now owned by William and leased to KC?.

Is it?

Something to do with the Duchy.

FenellaFeldman · Yesterday 16:17

Oneatatimegently · Yesterday 16:12

Is it?

Yes. It's part of the Duchy of Cornwall.

JSMill · Yesterday 16:17

Yes, he's spent the last 6 years whining about having been only the second most privileged child in the country.

Brilliant!

Pedant61 · Yesterday 16:18

Oneatatimegently · Yesterday 16:12

Is it?

It has been owned by the Duchy of Cornwall since 1980. There has been no change in ownership, but from 1980 to 2022 the Duke of Cornwall was (now) King Charles. Since 2022, the Duke of Cornwall has been Prince William.
Which means that the King now pays rent to his son (kind of).

Not extreme. Careful and well planned. It's worked out well.

You do wonder what children hear when in school. I was wondering how much the Wales children know about their Uncle Harry. The elder two are of an age where they could hear certain things being said at school especially now. Do they know they have cousins? I would imagine the situation has been explained to them at an age appropriate level.

I'm not sure many kids gossip about the royal family tbh, mine couldn't care less 🤷‍♀️

I’m not sure time was a factor.

JSMill · Yesterday 16:27

I work in a primary school. The dcs have a mild interest in the King and the Wales’ children. I am basing this on the level of interest they display when stories about the RF appear on Newsround, which we show at the end of the day. H isn’t on the radar of primary aged children, so I don’t know whether the Wales’ children would hear anything about him at school. More importantly, it’s another reason why H will become irrelevant more quickly than he would have otherwise done in his position. He’s not been in the royal spotlight for almost seven years now.

Lunde · Yesterday 16:27

Oneatatimegently · Yesterday 16:12

Is it?

Yes . Charles bough Highgrove as part of the Duchy or Cornwall which passed to William in 2022. IIRC Charles leased it on a long lease from the Duchy and pays rent.

But William & Kate met when they were at university and then, IIRC, set up home together on Anglesey whilst William was in the RAF. (Interestingly, in the light of H&M's current shenanigans, I don't think details of their home were ever released by the press and they were able to lead a private life whilst they were there, which was a substantial period of time)

This gave them time to really get to know each other and for Kate to think about the role she would be taking on if they married. I believe this was approved of my HM The Queen and it was a lesson learned from the speedy courtship of Charles & Diana

Absolutely, wise plan.

Can anyone seriously imagine M living anonymously?
Remember when M told H to issue a statement about her being harassed and most people were wondering who she was !
M had to make everything official as quickly as possible and I am not convinced it was anything to do with having DC .

PH and Wace have had a close friendship for many years, continuing post Oprah, post Spare.
IMHO I don’t think Wace would be in touch with KC (discreetly or otherwise), he won’t want to involve himself in that and he doesn’t really need the benefits of any close association to the crown.
He has a friendship with Harry, accepts ‘his truths’ and is lending him a property to live in, because he wants to.

I do think you raise a very good point in that Wace has chosen to remain H's friend despite the very public mistruths that H has shared with the world.

I wish Wace luck with his HaM friendship, but I rather suspect that he will eventually be "markled."

Well I hope they have gone for a house with a robust thick carpet with all the throwing oneself to the floor in tears.

They may get good use out of a deep shag country pile.

I'm wondering what Harry will do if Archie has no interest in rugby. Most US kids play soccer these days ( what you call football). Contact sports like what we call football ( mutated from rugby) are losing popularity due to brain injuries from the games.

Here in NYC, cricket is played on informal fields in local parks. My brother watches games in his park when he walks his dog. We really need a designated cricket stadium in the city.

Yes, extreme was the wrong word.

Unless Harry was seeing someone younger though he was never going to have 10yrs.
