Yes - they were all royal, aristocratic or nearly aristocratic- and in those circles even in the late 70s/early 80s some marriages were pretty much arranged. It was done to marry well and then taken for granted that you’d go your own way after the heirs had been produced.

The car that Henri Paul was driving when they crashed was completely unpredictable. Dodi and Diana weren’t expected back at the Ritz that evening - they were at Dodi’s Paris apartment before heading out to dinner. They changed their plans literally while en route driving to the restaurant where they had a booking. After dinner at the Ritz, when they decided to go back to Dodi’s apartment, they made another last minute decision to change cars and drivers. The car they had been using while in Paris was driven to the front of the hotel by its driver to act as a decoy. Henri Paul went to the hotel’s garage to pick up a car from the Ritz fleet to drive Diana and Dodi back home from the rear entrance.

So no, they didn’t use the only car available. They made a last minute decision to not use the car they’d been using all day tand o take one of the many in the Ritz’s garage instead.

I've never had an issue with Camilla but I do remember the haters when they married. Even Camilla has admitted she was scared incase people boo-ed her on their wedding day.

I watched a documentary on Charles years ago.I didn’t realise how in love they were in their younger days and it was really sad that societal pressure and royal duty cost them their relationship.
I’m pleased they finally got together although I feel for Diana who was collateral damage to the monarchy.

I think Diana’s family bear some responsibility for the marriage as well. By all accounts her grandmother pretty much orchestrated it with her friend the Queen Mother and what about her father? Her brother and sisters? Why did nobody step in or find out her feelings before it went ahead? They were familiar with the royal family and she was 19 (I think) fgs, any one of them could and should have intervened.

Shand Kydd was their mother on re marriage.

Actually it makes me have a very negative view of the Queen Mother, I see her as an interfering old battleaxe. That might not be the whole picture but that's how it seems.

I'm glad Charles and Camilla were eventually able to get together and have made a good life for themselves together.

No worries, it is confusing! I think Lady Fermoy was an ambitious woman. She had married a much older man herself, as had her daughter, Frances, and her granddaughter Jane.
Quite the done thing in that family.

Completely agree, Camilla is doing a fantastic job. I think she is getting better & better looking with age, she always gets it right. I glad they found happiness in the end.

I think M will start spending more time in Cali on the pretext of the As Ever business whilst M is here, a bit of a separation I think.
