Why is Dan Wootton so obsessed and full of hatred for Harry & Meghan?

i recently listened to Spare on audible - purely because it was free and I was interested to see what he had to say. ( most of it was boring self indulgent crap imo)
predictably the algorithms have filled my YouTube with H &M stuff!

it seems there is a daily barrage of videos from DW about them, such vitriol from this man. It’s unhinged!
I mean don’t get me wrong, I’m no fan of theirs at all but Jesus he acts like they murdered his granny.
He’ll post a picture of one of them literally smiling and turn it into a massive conspiracy theory about smirking at the Queen on her deathbed or some utter nonsense

I too am very capable of using my own eyes and my own ears to make up my own mind. I don't need anyone else to do this for me.

I certainly won't be reassessing my opinion on either DW, JC or PM based on the say-so of a poster with such a narrow lens.

As @MadeInGrimsbyhas noted being stubborn is my weakness! But the main thing that really does not work on me and actually triggers the opposite reaction?

I base my opinions of people now on a bigger picture. Not just something foolish they did or said in the past.

But this is why I find Harry and Meghan so fascinating and frankly maddening. They keep doing things that I find ill-advised. I’m still pulling for them but with every instagram post and every dragon-slaying speech or letter, I lose a little hope.

I don’t follow Dan Wooten. He seems like an angry man. I thought Piers did seem pretty weird about Meghan, too. Clarkson’s comment was deplorable and otherwise I haven’t paid attention to him.

But seeing the photo of the children and Harry at Althorp with the flowers posted on social media, I felt deflated and wanted to say “Really, Meghan? Fucking really?” because it was starting to seem like they were going to protect this moment - the visit with KC and Camilla, the longed for trip to Harry’s homeland, the visit to Diana’s family home and resting place. But no! It’s all gotta be put out there for the world. It’s garish and sad to me that Meghan can’t just appreciate her life, her family, her precious children. She has to try and prove something via social media and in fact by posting she’s proving the opposite each time.

There is no end to the foolish pantomime shenanigans - best to laugh along like the rest of us otherwise you would cry or cringe at the persistently, jarring, desperate nonsense. I wonder how deflated her mother must feel watched her make a toe curling fool of herself day in day out. She has zero self awareness.

Charles Spencer said in 1998 that he deliberately chose a secure private resting place on a lake island to protect Diana from “the insane and ghoulish” - seems he has one in his own family. The global publication of this picture of a deeply personal and private family moment is disrespectful to Diana’s own siblings, her other son and grandchildren as well as to PH and her own children.

I’ve no doubt that Clarkson has been good promoting the cause of farmers but this is a thread about Meghan and Harry!

I for one can’t ignore the fact that he wrote an article so misogynistic, vile and offensive about Meghan that a record 25, 000 people complained to the Independent Press Standards Organisation whose Chairman judged Clarkson’s imagery to be "humiliating and degrading towards the duchess” forcing Clarkson and the Editor of The Sun to make a public apology.

That to me cancels out anything good he may have done in support of farmers, and the fact that he was sacked for punching a lowly runner because his supper consisted of cold food, but everyone has their own values I suppose!

I’ve just looked at Meghan’s holiday photos on her Instagram page which I assume are the ones you are referring to?

I think we must agree to differ on this because out of twelve photos of Portugal and different locations, there is literally just one that features the backs of H and the dc at Althorp, They are nowhere near Diana’s island and the figures are so tiny in the distance that you can only just about see that they are carrying flowers! I didn’t see anything remotely ghoulish (or garish) anything about their visit to KC for that matter. But I don’t look at a lot of sm so am prepared to stand corrected.

At this stage Meghan really can’t win. If she doesn’t post anything she is accused of not being there in reality and not supporting H. And she gets criticised if she does post too!

I thought it particularly interesting that it largely seemed to be the usual male figures ranting on sm about Meghan “not supporting her husband” which I interpreted as “how dare she not appear in public so we can’t criticise her gestures, smile, her hands, her dress, her figure, her every move… .”

Seeing as you reminded me that it’s a thread about H&M, I find pointing a finger very publicly at a family and accusing them of being racist, leaving it hanging over them for 3 years and then back pedalling on it, to be worse than anything JC has said or done

She’d win with me by no longer posting photos of her children and certainly by not posting photos where they appear to be going to their grandmother’s graveside.

I think Clarkson is a horrible man, and that article was vile. I don't see any positives about him at all, I don't like his politics and I don't think he should be given air time. Piers Morgan is a maverick, but it seems to be all about his ego. I read that he's a long term friend of the York family, and have seen him pictured outside a restaurant with Beatrice and Eugenie, giving them warm embraces. I've not read anything by Dan Wootton, but there are so many people with podcasts and YouTube channels now, I lose track.
Harry and Meghan are in a tricky situation because they are famous for being royal. They've also been criticised for behaviour described upthread re: all their claims.
I think it would be great if they could move on, they obviously love being royal and celebrities, but maybe they could find a productive way to use their brand. I think they use their children because they are part of said brand. It's a difficult balance.

Are you aware that Harry and Meghan had a WhatsApp group of media contacts and were actively sharing their plans in real-time for this trip? It’s a little silly to be basically live tweeting your plans for the media to report and then complain when people wonder about your absence in the places you told everyone you’d be.

I’ve never seen her defenders even acknowledge this. Yet Camilla was excoriated right here in mumsnet for attending a 200 person luncheon alongside Clarkson. Posters claimed she was hosting the event.

Wasn’t Dan Wooten one of the original reporters who was fed info from the Sussex camp? He was the one who broke the news of megxit, and then a while later when Harry was pointing the finger at Charles and Camilla for ‘leaking’ Dan disclosed he had received the info from a close Sussex source.

I guess there was a time when he was useful to them.

I know Wooten broke megxit but was not aware that they lied and said it was Charles and Camilla.

In more recent history they did the same “leak and lie” about the peace talks. So their tactics have not changed and this is what I mean about judging people based on their behavior over time rather than one or two mistakes.

So maybe when someone says “They can’t win” they mean, they can’t get away with lying like this.

I really dislike Megyn Kelly and find it impossible to listen to her because I heard the way talks about Meghan once accidentally. She’s awful.

Byline times did an ‘expose’ (2023) claiming it was someone close to Camilla and Charles who had disclosed the info in return for payment,( not unbelievable at all, to be fair), along with other ‘disclosures’ about Dans personal life. All subsequently debunked or not proven.

Of course, now since Harry’s court case, we know there was already a strong connection between Harry, the Byline Times crooks and Hacked Off and how they orchestrated campaigns against journalists.

I guess Dan must feel very embittered about the lot of them.

Looks like he blamed the palace for the leaks and not anyone specifically.
