Those having a pop at Charles for being manipulated, capitulating, letting them back in, it’s a slap in the face etc etc etc - nobody knows what happened at the meeting. It could have been anything from - thank goodness you’re back my darling boy, here are the keys to Windsor Castle - to a cup of tea and small talk, putting to bed any stories about how cruel Charles is to refuse a meeting - to no we’re not paying your legal bills, we’re taking your titles off you, if you go quietly we will allow you to spin it as a mutual decision and If not, we will publicly list the reasons why you are not fit to be a royal duke. (Or - thanks for letting us know about the divorce, we will begin negotiation of the terms over the summer break.)

So let’s see whether this does spark an escalation in the Sussex shenanigans and the beginning of a return to the fold. I think it’s very unlikely. Or whether there is something more subtle going on behind the scenes.

Very good points. They didn't organise the paps and they didn't get photos. It's also proved how reasonable KC and QC are

Indianrollerbird · 10/07/2026 22:50

So the "private family occasion" is being reported on the BBC News at 10, tacked onto an item about Invictus, Harry's quasi royal "job". Oh, and then footage of William and Catherine at the polo match and "no signs of reconciliation" with them. So now it starts. W&C the bad guys, while the meeting with Charles is being called "significant" by the state broadcaster.

Didn’t take long did it?

Strawberriesandcaviar · 10/07/2026 23:00

I’m torn between

A) Charles has done well, private meeting, no photos
B) nfw should he have net them considering the outrageous statement re the judge

In a perfect world, the meeting happened, Charles bollocked them both and spelled out the consequences for continued bullshit, ie he will remove the titles

but that’s wishful thinking on my part

This does fuck me off. The BBC shouldn't be reporting any of this.

Apologies for my language, it is testament to how much it annoys me.

noonames · 10/07/2026 23:02

I just can’t see any evidence that Charles would be interested in rekindling even a personal relationship. Before today he’d seen Harry twice in 3 years, both times briefly and at Harry’s instigation. He didn’t bother to see them when he was in America, didn’t invite them to any events there, didn’t mention them when he talked about his family, never mentions them in his speech at Christmas either. Even without the enormous personal fallout from H+M’s behaviour, Charles knows that any real royal adjacency for these two would be a huge risk, Harry getting mocked for his GCSE debate club style political speeches, slapping random arses and humping women, lying in court, accusing a high court judge of corruption, giving women drugs as a test, Meghan using vulnerable people - children! - to sell clothes. What is there for the RF to gain? They are all (except Andrew) much more popular than the Sussexes. W+C are doing great stuff and getting good press for it. The Wales children are growing up fast. The Sussexes on the other hand are global laughing stocks, widely despised and the last thing the monarchy needs right now when it is already precarious because of Andrew. Charles’s job is to protect the institution and protect the heir. Which means not letting this couple - who send gift boxes to their supporters who attack the PoW online remember - anywhere near them. Plus I bet Camilla loathes them 😂

Catherine did look absolutely beautiful in the footage, though, so that's something 😂

ABitFab · 10/07/2026 23:07

A meeting to cut his titles would be the only conversation I hope he has. And telling them to stop being idiots.

ABitFab · 10/07/2026 23:08

Yes catherine and William looked very cute and such a pretty dress 👗

“Sure Harry, I’ll pay your legal bills but I want to meet my grandkids first and then any
money you do get comes with
ironclad rules or you’ll lose every penny.” Or there abouts.

Choux · 10/07/2026 23:21

Noodledog · 10/07/2026 21:46

Whatever Charles's motivation for the meeting, he's shown H and M he can be manipulated. I'll be amazed if the drama doesn't ramp up again in December - but the emotional manipulation will now be raised massively "Archie and Lili loved meeting their grandpa so much, they'll be so sad not to see him at Christmas blah blah"

As another PP said, they've got their foot in the door now, and they'll make damn sure it never shuts again. They've run out of options so they need the RF.

You are assuming the meeting went well. It might have been cordial but formal with the focus firmly on the kids. Camilla entertained her grand kids a lot at Ray Mill so can help keep everything focused on the kids and small talk for an hour or two.

The private meeting and no photos being released is a statement. If any photo is ever seen or the meeting discussed by HAM then KC will know they can’t be trusted. Although if the meeting isn’t seen then it really limits the usefulness of it from a grifting perspective. Next time they need some royal adjacency HAM could save the carbon footprint and just leak that they had had another invisible private visit with the king.

TheHatTrick · 10/07/2026 23:31

@Choux What you describe is exactly how I expect it went down.

I think (hope) Meghan might have been a surprised about how different things feel being in an audience with the King and Queen.

Charles was not yet officially King last time she saw him. I suspect this kind of direct interaction with just the four adults was exceedingly rare, too.

jeffgoldblum · 10/07/2026 23:35

Indianrollerbird · 10/07/2026 20:22

I disagree that BP have played this well. Accommodation at Buckingham Palace should never have been offered in the first place, resulting in the ensuing farce where they had to both withdraw the offer and break their "never explain" mantra. They have had to break it again with this visit, explaining its private nature in order to get ahead of what? Harry blabbing? He did that at their last private visit and in any number of private encounters with his family, why is this any different? I doubt this will be kept secret by the Sussexes. And I believe after a week of atrocious behaviour from Harry - his attack on Mr Justice Nicklin and revelations that he's a creepy creep around women and drugs - this is a royal adjacent reward that certainly is un-earned and unwarranted.

Edited

Good points!!

ShamedBySiri · 10/07/2026 23:36

Remember when the late Queen pointedly had photos of Charles and of the Wales family on her desk when she did her Christmas speech, (probably 2020?) and H&M were apparently outraged to be so publicly omitted? Charles could do a bit of reverse trolling by having a photo of them all, with smiling children face forward, on his desk for his next Christmas speech. Thus being the person who reveals the children's faces.
Imagine the meltdown that would provoke! 😆😂

BruFord · 10/07/2026 23:39

I also need a bite of the hat, because I didn't think that the children would be brought to the UK. But they have been and guess what, it all happened quietly and smoothly.

jeffgoldblum · 10/07/2026 23:39

Indianrollerbird · 10/07/2026 20:52

We'll have to agree to disagree. Harry has been proven to be a prodigious liar under oath, a vexatious litigant, has libeled a highly respected judge, and is an alleged would be date drugger. And they also had a moan about the BP accommodation, thus the "dreadful father" narrative is never very far away from this pair, and an hour's meeting is unlikely to change that. Working royals or not, they bring the RF into disrepute as family members being indulged. Looking foolish is their stock in trade. They simply don't care, because they think they are always right.

Although I remain hopeful there is another explanation ( and Charles is playing 4d chess ) , it’s very true that the optics are not good! , I find nothing in your argument that isn’t sound.

jeffgoldblum · 10/07/2026 23:40

Ferryl · 10/07/2026 21:07

I wonder when Meghan and the children arrived in UK and where they stayed. I have to admire her, I don’t quite know what to call it - brazenness maybe - in meeting up with KC.

She’s got more front than Blackpool!!

The optics are terrible. CG, Katie N and Rebecca E have spoken about the toll this bullshit court case had on their physical and mental health. Then this twat basically accused the Judge of corruption. 48 hours later, he's laughing, dry humping Alison then off to tea with KC.

jeffgoldblum · 10/07/2026 23:45

IcedPurple · 10/07/2026 22:02

Yes. I think some people just hate seeing Harry and Meghan 'rewarded' in any way and feel that Charles needs to 'punish' them at all times. But the fact is Harry is Charles' son. Nothing can change that.

Now, if we wee to see 'official' photos of the meeting on tomorrow's front pages, or if Charles were to start talking publicly about his 'darling boy' Harry again, I might think differently. But a brief meeting, away from the cameras, with the Queen casting a stern eye over all, was a power play by Charles.

Can you blame them? , I too can’t believe that time after time they do ridiculous and somewhat mendacious acts, yet no one’s calling them out! , no comeuppance seems to arrive! , nobody else gets away with this public behaviour!
I can imagine the anger! , on occasion I feel it too.

jeffgoldblum · 10/07/2026 23:49

MrsGusset · 10/07/2026 22:16

I'm undecided as to whether this visit was a Kingly masterstroke or a massive mistake. Valid arguments can be made both ways. What I am certain of :-

a) It won't be long before the Sussexes cock things up for themselves again. Because they always do.

and

b) Camilla is a very much better woman than me. Respect.

I want to highlight your post!! , I think we are all flip flopping from one side to another!!!
however I believe we are ALL correct!
it is a little from column A and a little from column B!

It will be interesting to see his demeanour tomorrow, with reference to the pp hoping Charles gave him a bollocking and a warning. Considering the massive and humiliating scale of his legal defeat and subsequent revelations from Charlotte Griffiths, and his wife's refusal to appear with him in public like he's human kryptonite, he certainly looked very chirpy and happy in Birmingham today, no doubt smug in the knowledge that he was off to see Charles in a couple of hours.

I can see why Charles might want a personal relationship with Harry , he is his son and no matter what he’s done, I can’t imagine cutting my son off !
however Charles needs to separate his father’s head from his HOS head , the two are not compatible.
