Sophie Chandauka said it best, "There are people in this world who behave as though they are above the law and mistreat people, and then play the victim card and use the very press they disdain to harm people who have the courage to challenge their conduct."

Great summary 👍

Basically, she's "done" with the RF because it's "one insult too many"

I couldn't open the article either so...thank you.

Just me who thinks she's privately been done with the RF and the wider UK for years and this is just the public cop-out she needed?

I also think she didn't trot over this time because (like the rest of the world) she had a strong suspicion Harold would lose and didn't want to be associated with his failure.

I don’t expect it will be long before sources close to the Sussexes report that they would consider accepting an invitation to Sandringham, if they get the best bedroom, Meghan is allowed to carve the turkey and if her main pressie is a certain sapphire ring 🙄

Please don’t talk this up. I live a stones throw. I am one of the great unwashed on Christmas morning, watching “ them” leave Church. I even tried to give Charlotte a selection box one year only for Louis to push ahead and snatch it! I’ve walked my customers dogs on the beach nearby and seen William walking ahead. It’s lovely here, unspoiled, peaceful. I don’t want stalls of jam and a ginger winger and his missus hogging the limelight 😂

Call me thick but I don't follow the Sussex strategy here.

Maines, on Sussex orders, initiates a thaw with BP and gets the buy-in of the King's people.

Between them they arrange a meeting to parlay.

The meeting is leaked to CG and photos appear in the DM.

So far, so good. Thaw being negotiated, proof that the thaw is being negotiated is now in the wide world to prepare the British public.

But then the Sussex sources blame the RF for the leak, and blow the whole thing up.

Is it really the case that H was working his way back? And M sabotaged it? That's all I can think of.

And - who was GiveMeSpanoptika?

Edited

I’ve always assumed this is their idea:

leak meeting

continue to seed stories about a thaw

UK public v excited, public opinion becomes overwhelmingly positive

pressure grows on Charles to thaw

press and public clamour to have these marvellous people who are so much better than W+C back where they belong

Charles buckles, begs them to come back and they get half in half out

or Charles buckles, begs them to come back and they loftily refuse (cf Meghan not wanting to go back to “being the face of the RF”)

or Charles holds firm and they are poor victims (cf their “PTSD” when he ignored them during the state visit / “shocked and disappointed, a slap in the face” when their wedding anniversary went unacknowledged - multiple posts asking what kind of father would do that to his own son etc etc)

Meanwhile in the real world, everyone sees straight through them, eyes roll, public opinion overwhelmingly negative, sympathy for KC3 and PPoW grows.

Pair of dimwits.

Yes, it's a very juvenile response. She's not "done" with the RF, because her entire existence and income is based on being married to Prince Harry. That's it. So I'm not sure how on earth she thinks she's going to be "done" with an institution that has given her the titles, status, wealth and privilege she enjoys currently.

Looks like shit.

Notice the front row dutifully rictus grinning while the back row look bored or are talking among themselves.

No pensioners in red uniforms for a photo opp?

I think he looks fine?!
He's definitely a better actor than his wife 😅

Harry really shouldn’t have slagged off William’s baldness .

Amazing how you might go to something like that with semi-ironed shirt and worn out looking creased jacket.

I mean did he do his own packing straight from the dirty pile?

Notice that the two rictus grinners are wearing invictus shirts!

Starryfifty · 08/07/2026 20:34

I do think and I'm not defending the despicable HAM but KC and RF had no intention of hosting them tbh. They knew about yesterday's verdict before we did and they just didn't want the hassle / stress. BP out of bounds but let's face it, there are many other Royal options. FWIW, the RF absolutely did the right thing

Maybe you're right. This was an audacious plan!

The weird thing is, they needn't have gone about it in a backhanded way. There is a good chance that if they had privately rebuilt a relationship with Charles, without any leaks, one day he would have consented to have a photo with them which could be publicly released.

He does get criticism in some quarters for the estrangement with his son. It would have been good PR for both parties.

Of course, I'm not suggesting for a minute that there could have been a change in H's status (so no return to working as a royal) and no reunion with W because he burnt that bridge. But a private relationship with his Dad which became public later was absolutely a possibility.

Recent events are a real setback for their plans if they were still angling for HIHO.

No, the BP apartment was offered, up to a deadline. It wasn't rescinded. Harry didn't respond within a reasonable time frame.
You cannot say that they had "no intention" because the rooms were made available.
His choice, his decision. He could have stayed there, it was all ready to be prepped.

I doubt if they did

But probably HAM's PR started asking about a large room for a press conference at BP to either celebrate or slag off the judiciary ... which is an impossible situation for a Head of State
