All these shenanigans do go to show that this trip was never really about reconciliation with Charles. Harry cannot possibly argue that any more - he couldn’t have made a rapprochement less likely. I guess the goal was to dangle the children as a way to put pressure on RAVEC and/or Charles to give him the security that he wants, and to facilitate a prodigal son style return, replacing the Waleses in the public’s affections, the Sussexes’ evident popularity forcing Charles to think again about half in half out. So Harry poncing about like a working royal, Meghan with lots of outfits by designers that the PoW wears, appearances at Wimbledon and Villa Park to piss off and upstage the PPoW, and always hammering home the royal connections on the insta.
Instead, he now has no royal residence, no royal adjacency, a public slap down from his father and an end to the ‘Charles is begging to see the grandchildren’ narrative, Meghan and the children probably not even coming, and he’s pissed off his pet journos so the press are finally reporting what a nobhead he is. Everyone is rolling their eyes and sniggering at his ineptness while the rest of the RF quietly (but not too quietly) get on with things. So we’ve had trooping, garter and thistle, the 3 peaks challenge (wearing Diana’s ring), those nice photos from Snowdon, mingling with the crowds at Wimbledon, William on the Kelce brothers’ podcast. All ridiculously positive in terms of PR. Harry and Meghan look like such vacuous idiots in comparison, superb work, Harry 🤦♀️
