Nobody seems to know for sure. Why should we care. Maybe he doesn't even know himself yet. He can't seem to do anything without attracting lots of press articles.

At this stage Meghan can’t buy a ticket for Wimbledon. She would have to approach the AELTC to request one (which of course they could accommodate, but we can only guess at how likely it is) or she could ask for an invitation from a sponsor who has a hospitality suite and tickets. That is how most celebrities not in the Royal Box are there. And a sponsor (Evian, Ralph Lauren etc) might be very happy to have the coverage Meghan will absolutely bring to their hospitality. We will have to wait and see.

(Although I think Meghan is more a supporter of Serena Williams than a tennis fan generally? Certainly she’s not been seen at tennis tournaments in the US since moving there)

I don’t think she’d be booed. Maybe muted applause the British way.

I think she might well be booed and thats why she isn't making any so called public appearances. I still think there's a chance she won't come.

Somebody might shout something out. I remember being on a Sheffield train platform at the same time as Nick Clegg, at the height of his unpopularity.
Someone shouted across at him from the other platform "Oi - Cleggy! Fook off to London!"

Ohpleeeease · 10/07/2026 15:29

I once saw Nick Clegg with his family at a seaside cafe in Dorset. We decided he had the look of a bloke who looked a bit like Nick Clegg.

I saw Boris Johnson in Euston back before he was PM. I actually followed him to the toilets because I wanted to call him a wanker, but it's probably for the best that I lost him in the crowd.

Sophiecunninghamsfinger · 10/07/2026 16:08

She won't be here ever.

SheinSussex · 10/07/2026 16:22

I once saw Vic Reeves walking down the street in Peak Vic Reeves and said Hi Vic and then as I passed him I realised that I don’t actually know him.

Why would you want to make a clown of yourself? He wouldn't care about your opinion. And no I definitely wasn't a fan.

Met Police were in attendance yesterday at his meeting at Chatham House.

Why did he need public protection when he had 2 private security with him and there was no more than a handful of people waiting outside...

To stop Chris Ship rimming Harry in public.

Why did they take the laugh emoji away, just why?! 😂

MrsLeonFarrell · 10/07/2026 19:16

The Mail is reporting the King and Queen hosted Harry and his family privately at Highgrove. Sounds like a very appropriate way to do it.

I feel I must apologise. My conviction that Meghan and children would not come and never planned to was wrong. The Royal family have won this one - private, no pics. Now at least we won't have accusations that KCIII is a cold and uniquely terrible father.

MouldyCandy · 10/07/2026 19:33

BBC News online reporting it too. I'm surprised it happened actually due to the shit stirring that proceeded it.

That's a good way of looking at it and probably sensible too.

Well that's me been knocked down by a feather!

Didn't think it would happen either.

Charles and Camilla met Harry and Meghan at the King's country home in Gloucestershire but sources claim it was a 'private family occasion' and no photos or further information will be officially released.

That's from the Mail.

I suppose only time will tell!

And hopefully there’s generally an acknowledgment that none of us really know what goes on behind the scenes, and a great deal of what is stated on here is speculation rather than reality. And that a lot of the noise is created by journalists wanting to make a buck!

I am not a royalist but I am glad from a human perspective that they have all met and have no idea why Highgrove wasn’t suggested before, or perhaps it was the plan all along? Who knows?

Ohpleeeease · 10/07/2026 20:01

You’re all very charitable. Those two do nothing without a motive or a pay off. KC3 plummeting in my estimation I’m afraid. He’s being played.

It might have been mooted as a meeting place but I doubt that they are all staying there.

Decacaffeinatednow · 10/07/2026 20:14

I’m very glad the grandparents and grandchildren have reunited. Hopefully that will happen more often now.

Well I think that might depend on what happens next.

He has surely met them as a father & GF?

It might mean nothing more than that.

Since this “private” meeting has been made public I can have a view, which is that Charles is up to his old scheming tricks again. I hope he’s footing the bill for their visit. It I were William, as the owner I’d have the place swept for bugs and wouldn’t set foot in it again.

And it's nice to see his grandchildren after all. The statement is also making it clear that the visit was private, in line with other BP statements about the Sussexes. Private family having a private visit so no further details. If they are wise the Sussexes will resist leaking or commenting about the visit at all.

I might once have agreed with you.

But short term wins are that the Sussexes came over, all of them, and were received by grandad, privately.

They didn't get full-on security, they weren't papped, and were and I hope will remain safe and unharmed. That old chestnut has been exploded - H can't credibly bleat about security again

They didn't get BP or pics with The King, they got to meet dad/ grandad at the private, rented family home.

They didn't get the cavalcade or the public appearances.

The "KC3 is cruel and uncaring" trope is exploded. (Now go and see Thomas has already been put out there.)

The Sugars will have their few brain cells spinning and the more thoughtful ones will feel properly betrayed.

ThecSussexes has been humiliated. By kindness.

Long term, who knows what the BP plan is. I do believe that BP have a long-term plan - chess-like, thinking many moves ahead and considering many different scenarios.

ETA - I'm inclined to trust my King and his advisors at this point.
