As someone with cancer, I am quite happy for both of those multi-million pound organisations to pay appropriate rent for their offices.

Macmillan: income for last financial year £245m

Cancer Research UK: income for last financial year £735m

(Her name is Catherine.)

I had no idea! As someone who had it and came out the other side! My love and support for you ! ❤️

noonames · 28/06/2026 23:38

Nice that the engagement ring was front and centre in the photo on Ben Nevis, presumably because of Diana’s long relationship with the Royal Marsden.

ShamedBySiri · 28/06/2026 23:39

Brilliant achievement. I've donated and dedicated the donation to her, I hope the Royal Marsden sees those donations rolling in. Lovely to see her looking so happy and healthy.

I do wonder why people who despise the Royal Family so much come onto this board.

Genuinely baffling. Confused

I think they come because it's an outlet for their spite and poison. AIBU gets criticised for nastiness, but I've never seen anything there that equals the unpleasantness from some on this thread. Are they this vile in real life? I imagine they keep it well hidden.

JustAnotherWhinger · 28/06/2026 20:33

She did them all in the 24 hours it says.

on another forum some folks are criticising the fact she was driven between the three peaks, but I can’t imagine anyone actually doing the peaks and safely doing all the driving!

People are generally driven between the three peaks if they’re on an organised trip.

Windsandstars · 28/06/2026 23:34

I have had cancer, and like most people in that position, I returned to a full work schedule once in remission. If there is enough energy for the Three Peaks Challenge, there is enough energy for a full professional workload. Returning to work is a standard part of recovery, go back to reality.

Oh dear! Is jealousy always an issue for you?

Jesus christ. Are you this awful in real life, or is spite your private hobby?

durdledoris · 28/06/2026 23:44

Windsandstars · 28/06/2026 20:14

Wow congrats Catherine! If you have energy for that, you have energy for working, right?

Would you like a saucer of milk?

I imagine it would curdle!

I’d like to do this, can someone signpost me? Where do I get 24hr support, all the equipment and training support I need please? Oh and transport to and from so my family can come? Oh and the time off work for all the training and to do it. Oh and sometime to look after DC as DH works shifts so it’s tricky.

Perplexity will plan it for you in roughly 5 seconds

@zov- compared to Anne, Edward and Charles when he was PofW, Catherine and William do very few engagements. They work very very part time for the country, with William focussing on work that makes him money, not royal duties.

The reasons given for Catherine’s limited workload has been cancer and/ or the children. The children are all in full time education now, she has more than one nanny, and now it seems her health is not just back to where it was, but she’s stronger than she was before her treatment. It’s a reasonable assumption that if she’s well enough for this, she’s well enough to work full time on royal duties. Why can’t they match the workload of Anne? Obviously they can, they just don’t want to. Which is pretty rubbish, unless you are a fan of getting rid of the royal family and being a republic, because William is the best argument against “they work so hard for us”.

It is perfectly reasonable to point out it’s pretty crass that a couple who earn £20-24m a year are asking other people to donate money to a cause they care about, but haven’t announced a donation themselves. Particularly when our economy is in the state it is at the moment.

but on a personal level, that’s bloody tough to do, it’s impressive.

Everything in this post is wrong or false.

That's a privileged position to be in.

Some months after my 1 year clear scan, I'm not yet able to work - due in no small part to the effects of the treatment I'm still on.

Without wanting to sound trite, each person's journey is different. I could not have predicted how this would have affected me.

Or Taylor Swift threads where she’s praised for donating to foodbanks and giving her tour staff huge bonuses.

There’s always someone who wants to disparage it.

Thanks @jeffgoldblum - explains why I'm wasting so much time on here at the minute!

Not2identifying · 28/06/2026 23:52

I'm really glad she's well enough to do this sort of thing and think it's likely to be really effective as a way of achieving her goal of raising awareness and funds for the charity but also showing people who have cancer that there is life afterwards even if it's different than you thought it would be.

Yes, she's rich and has more free time than most. That's inevitable in her position. She's still chosen freely to do something really positive and I'm happy for her. I donated tonight for the first time even though I've come across the Royal Marsden's good work several times before, unrelated to the royals, yet this was the story that inspired me to reach for my credit card. She's done a great job here.

Me too! Hard not to take it personally, especially when every cancer journey is different and personal 😬 , I fully expect to awaken to deleted posts, on this occasion I don’t care!

wordler · 28/06/2026 23:58

I actually find it odd how vitriolic posters get towards Kate. She doesn’t have any of the qualities normally associated with a ‘love them or hate them’ personality.

She looks like she makes an effort to get the role right - she’s happy and smiley or somber and empathetic at the appropriate times.

She seems to have good relationships with the majority of her family and married family. She has loyal friends.

In over 25 years in the public eye there have been no scandals, no serious missteps, or controversies.

I would assume that at worst you’d be bored or indifferent to her.

I’m not rich per se, however I have much free time because my son has sen and I’m technically a carer !
however that doesn’t mean I’m lazy or do nothing with my time!

LivelyGreyShark · 29/06/2026 00:04

Its not wrong to say that W&K do very little in the way of official engagements, as its recorded in the court circular. However, what they do behind the scenes, private visits, what private donations they make is something we aren't generally made aware of and that's fine. Likewise I just clicked on a youtube short of the Queen watching back old footage of her coronation and there was a comment on there saying H&M need to be 'ENDED' - the hate is unreal.

One word! Jealousy!
of course they will deny it and make comments about how they would never!
but ultimately Catherine fell in love and married the heir to the throne! , he was a pin up , the darling of those who saw him grow up and now she will be a queen!
as far as these people are concerned she doesn’t deserve such things!

sittingonabeach · 29/06/2026 00:18

@LivelyGreyShark think they do more things behind the scenes so not on the court circular. Also I am sure William has said he wants less ribbon cutting and more time spent on projects, so ultimately will end up being seen at fewer things.

Was it solo?! Who took the picture then?

FFS, do you think she did it completely alone? Mental.
